I need to replace my 1970s Broad Acres carpet, which has a deep cut pile with a seemingly random loop running through it and the appearance it gives is surprisingly contemporary. Do you know whether there is a manufacturer who might be producing anything similar now?
Your Broad Acres carpet was made on Karaloc looms, which were unique in their day but have long since been decommissioned. It was a design of its time and, unfortunately, I can only report that nothing exactly the same is available today. Current loom technology is producing a new breed of carpets with differing pile heights, however, and a design such as Natural Perceptions Waves, with its undulating weave and tip-sheared finish in a range of neutral colours, could be described as being a second cousin to your old carpet. The carpet is made in 100 per cent wool, and is available from
Adam Carpets.
