In a past issue you featured a wallpaper with small birds perched on branches of blossom. Can you suggest fabrics with a similar type of pattern for Roman blinds in my sitting room with duck-egg blue walls and a taupe carpet.

One of the prettiest bird and blossom fabrics I have found is Chinoiserie F1186-01 in Cherry (above right), which has blue birds and taupe leaves with cherries and pink and red flowers, from Designers Guild, 020 7893 7400,
designersguild.com. The fabric is cotton, 137cm wide and costs £39m. To stay with pink blossom, no birds though, you might consider Charlize in Mist (above left). This is a fine silk, so you will need to interline blinds. It is 21cm wide and priced at £39.20m from Robert Allen, 020 7352 0931,
robertallendesign.com. Another very pretty blossom fabric is Maia 201 in Ivory/Blue, silk mix, 135cm wide, £26m, from Sanderson, 01895 830044,
sanderson-uk.com. If you would prefer to stay with a blue/neutral palette, you might like the dramatic chocolate, taupe and blue weave, Katsura F1391-03 in Cocoa, cotton mix, 147cm wide, which costs £68m from Designers Guild, as before. Or, consider Cranes by Florence Broadhurst in H20 Storm or H36 Tan Union (above centre), cotton, 142cm wide, £58m, from Borderline, 020 7823 3567,
borderlinefabrics.com.
