Yellow bedroom

This buttery yellow and ivory wallpaper, with its subtle, almost naive, design, creates a soft, ethereal feel in this room. A similar colour combination appears on the printed linen that has been used to upholster the bed. Dividing the height of the room with panelling in ivory maintains the clean, elegant feel. The look is enhanced by a simple window treatment consisting of a deep, softly draped pelmet over plain off-white unlined curtains. Touches of the pale yellow on the bedside table and bedcover complete the scheme.

How to make it work
• Tongue and groove panelling breaks up the pattern and brings in a smart architectural element.
• Wool carpeting is luxurious under bare feet in a bedroom.
• A generously shaped pelmet with inverted pleats at the corners adds a formal touch.
• The contemporary upholstered bed lets air pass under it, which introduces a fresher feel.
