Since graduating from Central St Martins College of Art and Design three years ago, Rachel Kelly has devoted her time to creating striking, decorative wallpaper schemes that allow customers to play a key role in how they look. Kelly's background wallpaper designs are decorated by end-users with adhesive patterns that create additional depth and which can also be used to decorate windows and furniture. Her designs have been used in a variety of domestic and commercial spaces including BBC TV Centre, as well as retail chains such as Top Shop in Manchester and branches of Oasis. In addition, her work has been exhibited at the Design Museum and the Crafts Council. Judges admired the lateral thought that had been put into the design – and how a traditional decorating medium has been re-invented in a fresh new way.
