The designer's intention was not just to make a functional piece of furniture but also to demonstrate how it is possible to make normal things very special. The frame of Mummy is a bent beech-wood chair that has been covered in polyurethane foam and wrapped in polyester ribbon. Available in 12 different colours, including the vibrant pink below, this refreshing design looks set to become not just a classic but a talking point for some time to come.

Peter Traag was born in Tegelen in The Netherlands in 1979, and studied 3D design in Arnhem and design products at the Royal College of Art in London, where he now lives and works. Since graduating from the RCA in 2003, he has worked for the Mike Smith Studio, which makes artists' installations, as well as on his own design projects such as this.
