This stunning transparent glass radiator was created by Daniel Alexander, who was also shortlisted for this year's Young Designer Award. Daniel is a recent graduate from Central St Martin's College of Art & Design, and his talent was spotted by Bisque when he won its award at the New Designers' Exhibition in 2006. Since then, they've been working together to develop his prototype radiator into a retail product. Although it is made of glass, this electric radiator has a traditional, old-fashioned shape that harks back to yesterday's cast-iron designs. What makes it extra special is the interior: instead of chunky wiring, the screen-printed electric circuit has a delicate pattern that is reminiscent of embroidery. The judges commented: “This is a wonderful reworking of a traditional idea. Daniel has created a contemporary piece of art that also performs highly efficiently as a domestic heater.”
