Peter MacCann studied Furniture and Product Design at the Institute of Technology in Dublin, followed by a master's degree at Buckingham Chilterns University College in High Wycombe, which he completed in 1999. After running his own studio in London designing for such big names as Habitat and Heal's, he has moved back to Ireland and set up his own brand Made*
in partnership with John Walsh. The Tie pendant light for Innermost has concentric panels that seem to float in the air, circling the light source like planetary rings.

The idea is simple: two metal cylinders of roll-formed aluminium, one inside the other. However, in execution it appears more complex, consisting of sections that seem to have been cut away to form a shape that alters dramatically as you move around it. One version has an all-white high-gloss finish, while another with outer parts in black gloss is more dramatic and makes a bold statement. Intriguingly, it isn't possible to see from below how the cylinders are fixed together; there is a steel plate at the top of the fitting attached to its glass diffuser, which covers two E27 satin nickel-plated bulb holders. They each take a fluorescent compact bulb in 5, 10 or 15 watts. The maximum equivalent tungsten wattage is a hefty 150 watts, which suits the fitting's generous dimensions of H32xdiam50cm – perfect for a hallway. The Tie pendant comes with its own satin-nickel-plated ceiling fitting to replace an existing rose, and a smart clear flex.
