Have you always wanted to try your hand at design? Or perhaps you've been searching for a particular rug to finish off a room scheme but can't find what you had in mind? Now's your chance to turn your ideas into a reality and create your own rug in a colour and style of your choice by entering our competition.

The winner will have their design produced in wool or wool and silk for their own home. Plus, the rug will feature in the Wool Classics Hand-knotted Rug Collection, Spring/Summer 2009.

Wool Classics has been synonymous with luxury contemporary carpets since the company was founded over ten years ago. All its rugs are custom-made to order, and virtually any curve, line and colour tone can be translated into the finished product by the expert in-house design team. Different fibre and pile combinations can also be incorporated to create a unique finish.

To enter send your name, address, postcode and daytime telephone number along with your design, following the guidelines below:

• Your finished rug should be 2x3m in size.

• Entries should be submitted to scale as either hand-drawn or computer-generated designs.

• You are allowed a maximum of six individual colours.

• You can include details regarding pile, whether loop or cut (therefore giving the effect of two different shades of the same colour). and fibre content. A minimum wool content of 50 per cent and maximum silk content of 50 per cent applies.

The winning entry will be chosen after 30 December 2008 by our judging panel: Homes & Gardens editor Deborah Barker, sales and design director of Wool Classics Matthew Wailes, and internationally acclaimed interior designer Kelly Hoppen.

Terms and Conditions
The judges' decision is final. All entrants must submit a drawing of their design as per the guidelines above. The winner must agree to their rug being photographed for the magazine, and the winner must agree to publicity. The winning design will become the property of Wool Classics and will be copyrighted as such. Entries cannot be returned. Entry instructions form part of the rules. Proof of posting will not be taken as proof of delivery, and entries must be received no later than 30 December 2008. The prize is as stated. The prize must be accepted as offered: there will be no cash alternative. The competition is open to readers aged 18 and over and who are residents in the UK, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland, other than employees (and their families) of IPC Media, the reproduction house and printer of Homes & Gardens. Winners will be notified by 31 January 2009 by telephone and post. Homes & Gardens, published by IPC Media Ltd (IPC), will collect your personal information to process your entry.
