For Rauscher, the use of other natural materials helps to promote a serene environment: 'By bringing in elements found in nature: wood tones, natural stone, real wool, and linen upholstery along with warm neutral colors on the walls, the space that is created is one that is as serene as taking a long walk in the woods on a crisp fall day.'

Shown in the background are floor-to-ceiling kitchen storage cabinets, wrapping around two of the walls. The wood is light in color and slightly warm-toned, designed very minimally with no obvious handles or other features on the door fronts.

The cabinets nod to Japanese-inspired design, taking reference from the country’s calming style carried out by using natural materials and clean lines. Friends actress Courteney Cox is well known for portraying Monica Geller – a self-proclaimed cleaning lover – who is famed for keeping her Manhattan flat meticulously organized. But how does the actress compare to her fictional counterpart in reality? A recent glimpse inside her home suggests the two are certainly not dissimilar. 

'I have a lot of books. This causes me so much anxiety,' Courteney shared in a video (below). The actress, who was sorting out her books alongside her friend, recommends organizing a bookshelf by size by size and color – '[Starting] with the big ones and color co-ordinating them.' 

'What was supposed to be an hour has been the whole day. We didn't put it in order of subjects; we did it in order of size and color,' Courteney adds before showcasing the fruits of her work. 

The question of whether you should coordinate colors and sizes is entirely personal – and it's still possible to restore order to your bookshelf if you opt to store them in terms of their category (or you simply arrange them to prioritize your favorites). However, Interiors Therapy expert Suzanne Roynon says that we can all learn a lot from Courteney Cox's book storage ideas. 

'Books are created to be read – and to do that – it's important to be able to see them and access them easily,' Suzanne says. 1. Organize with a friend

Whether you're organizing your home – whether it be a bookshelf or any other space  – Suzanne recommends following the actress's lead and inviting a friend to simplify the process (and help it feel enjoyable).  

'It's so much easier to get organized and sort your life out if you have help from someone who has no emotional attachment to your stuff,' Suzanne explains. 'They can get on with the practicalities and keep you on track, which avoids sinking into overwhelm.' 

2. Review each item individually

'By reviewing her books one by one, Courteney quickly made decisions on those she wanted to keep and which could be passed on for others to enjoy,' Suzanne says. She urges against keeping any book you have no intention of reading again unless there is a genuine, justifiable reason for doing so – or you are happy to see it on your shelf. 

3. Think about the visual appeal

'Using the cleared bookshelves Courteney already had available in the room, the books were arranged in color and size order, so they are both accessible for her to read and beautiful to look at,' Suzanne says. 'The actress chose to color coordinate, while others might decide to display books by size or genre. Whichever method you prefer, make it visually rewarding.'  

As the expert suggests, decorating with books – in a way that is both attractive and enticing – is more likely to draw an individual to revisit an old favorite, or even pick up something new. We've got a lot to thank Monica, or rather, Courteney for. 

Courteney Cox is selling her condo on the 25th floor of Hollywood's Sierra Towers for $4.5 million. The Friends star is one of the countless celebrities who have called the retro structure their home, including actresses Lily Collins and Emma Watson, and songwriter Robert Sherman.

The 1960s skyscraper, which is counted as one of the world's best homes due to its iconic status, was also recently home to Sandra Bullock, who listed her condo in December last year. Records acquired by Dirt suggest Courteney sold her apartment in an off-market deal to her next-door neighbor – similar to when she sold another one of her two adjoining units in Sierra Towers.

In July 2020, the actress sold one of her apartments to LA socialite Angelique Soave for $2.9 million. This time, however, Angelique secured the second unit for $4.5 million, entirely taking over Courteney Cox's space in the building.

Almost as well known for her stylish homes as for her acting, little is known about Courteney's decorating ideas for the condo. However, it's likely that it is similar to that of her amazing Malibu home, which is largely decorated in naturals and neutrals. Her kitchen (seen in the video below) is often featured on her social posts and opens into a living space with comfortable couches.

There is much to learn about Sierra Towers and its residents, however. 

Angelique Soave, who was raised in Michigan, has spent approximately $11.8 million acquiring half of the 25th floor in recent years. She now owns three units – the two from Courteney and a final space from English actress Joan Collins who lived in the building. 

Courteney Cox, who also starred in the Scream film franchise, never publicly offered the condo for sale, so insight into her apartment is sparse. However, Dirt reported that local tax records show the northeast-facing corner unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. A living room and kitchen also make up 1,725 square feet of living space in the heart of Hollywood.

Admired for its contemporary façade, Sierra Towers occupies a prime Sunset Strip location, and its history as a home for Hollywood royalty means that it is still sought-after among the most prestigious actors and socialites. Current residents include Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and comedian Adam Sandler.

The building, designed by architect Jack A. Charney, has a gym and outdoor swimming pool for its residents. Most units also boast a terrace with an outdoor seating area – that is (almost certainly) the talking point of any house party.
