Snow-flocked Christmas trees are having a moment this season, bringing a nostalgic, woodland-inspired feel to holiday decorating. Their frosted branches offer a softer alternative to traditional greenery, pairing beautifully with warm lighting, natural textures, and understated ornaments for a look that feels both timeless and fresh.

ALDI’s Merry Moments LED Flocked Alpine Tree, which launches online on Nov. 4, is an affordable way to embrace the trend. Priced at just $39.99 for the five-foot design, it comes pre-lit with warm white LEDs, making it easy to create a festive focal point without the expense of a larger tree.

If you are looking for something a little taller, the Costway 6 FT Pre-Lit Flocked Cedar Christmas Tree at Target is a lovely alternative, offering a similar snow-dusted look with extra height for a more substantial festive display.

‘When decorating for Christmas, it is often the smaller, considered details that make a home feel truly special. Trees with a softly frosted finish and warm lighting bring a wonderful sense of atmosphere, particularly when styled with natural materials and understated decorations,’ says Hebe Hatton, Head of Interior Design at Homes & Gardens.

At five feet tall, ALDI’s tree is ideal for a living room corner, entryway, or guest bedroom, bringing a gentle festive glow without overwhelming the space. The six-hour timer adds convenience, too, while the integrated lighting lets the snowy branches take centre stage.

How to Style a Flocked Christmas Tree for an Elevated Look

Flocked Christmas trees are wonderfully versatile. While their snow-dusted branches lend themselves naturally to a winter wonderland scheme, they can look just as elegant in a more traditional, collected Christmas interior. The key is to choose decorations that complement the frosted finish rather than compete with it.

For a look that feels elevated yet inviting, I would keep the styling relatively restrained, allowing the tree’s snowy branches and warm lighting to take centre stage. Burgundy Velvet Ribbon Bows from Amazon would introduce a beautiful softness and a rich pop of color, while the Mini Painted Glass Christmas Ornament Set from Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia at Target would add a delicate, artisanal feel. Together, they create a thoughtful balance of texture and detail without overwhelming the tree.

If you want to curate a more traditional Christmas palette, I would pair burgundy with forest green and antique gold. These deeper shades contrast beautifully with the pale branches, bringing warmth and a timeless quality to the display. Alternatively, ivory, soft gold, and natural wood would create a quieter, more organic scheme that feels particularly elegant in a neutral interior.

‘A beautiful Christmas scheme does not need to be elaborate to feel luxurious,’ says Hebe Hatton, Head of Interior Design at Homes & Gardens. ‘I would focus on texture, layering natural materials with tactile fabrics and warm metallic accents. These details add depth and richness while allowing the overall scheme to feel relaxed and cohesive.’

Finally, consider how you style the area around the base of the tree. Rather than leaving the stand exposed, the Kelly Clarkson Home Tree Collar from Wayfair offers a polished alternative to a traditional tree skirt, helping to conceal the base while creating a more finished look. Choose a tree collar that complements your wider color palette, then introduce a few carefully chosen decorative objects to complete the display.

I would style the mantelpiece nearby with the Faux Kew Garden Garland by Abigail Ahern at Crate & Barrel, whose natural, abundant greenery adds another layer of texture and brings a sense of effortless elegance to the scheme.

The result is a Christmas display that feels thoughtfully layered and personal, rather than overly coordinated.

Shop Alternative Flocked Trees

ALDI’s Merry Moments LED Flocked Alpine Tree is a lovely reminder that festive decorating does not need to be elaborate to feel special. Sometimes, a beautifully lit tree, thoughtful placement, and a few well-chosen accents are all it takes to bring a little winter woodland charm into your home. And if you’re looking for alternative designs to suit your space and budget, I’ve curated a selection of my favorite flocked Christmas trees to help you create an equally enchanting festive display.

The coziest homes always hold a quiet sense of nostalgia, and one of the best Christmas rituals is when the passed-down family treasures come out. While slow, collected decorating is one of the best ways to inject festive charm into your home, theming your Christmas decor around this year's biggest trends will also help you to create a charming festive scheme that stands out from previous celebrations.

Last year we saw the Ralph Lauren heritage aesthetic takeover, and bows felt bigger and bolder than ever before. While these iconic decorating ideas are making a welcome return this year, plenty of other new, playful themes are making their debut, too.

From rustic country ornaments inspired by traditional handcraftsmanship to the dreamlike fruit and vegetable trend that invites playfulness to the table, these six designer-approved holiday decor themes will be everywhere this festive season.

1. Whimsical

While decorating with bows was a pretty memorable Christmas trend last year, in 2026, they're making a welcome return to trees, tabletops, and mantels – and they're bigger and better than ever.

Yes, dainty velvet bows tied gracefully to a Christmas tree have a rich history, but oversized, exaggerated bows made from colorful ribbon are the playful accessories popping up in the latest Christmas collections. From Anthropologie's Willow Plaid Bow Tree Topper to the bow-shaped Benedita Cake Serve Set, these whimsical decorations invite comforting nostalgia to our homes.

'I love a full Christmas tree!' says Alice Palmer, Designer & Founder of Alice Palmer & Co. 'I like to use our Christmas tree bows, ribbons and fabric remnants to add color, pattern and texture. Fabric bows are such a lovely way to make a tree feel more personal and playful, rather than relying solely on traditional baubles. They’re also an easy way to make an impact and can be used throughout the home, from the tree to garlands draped around fireplaces.'

2. Ralph Lauren

From plaid-covered upholstery to equestrian-inspired artwork, living rooms radiated preppy Ralph Lauren nostalgia last year – and they're predicted to be embracing the heritage look once again for winter 2026.

'There’s a warmth and familiarity to the heritage look that feels especially right at Christmas,' says Shailja Vohora, Interiors With Art. 'Rich colors and layered textures create an inviting setting that feels considered and timeless. It’s also an approach that works with a home’s existing interiors, allowing festive decorations to feel like a natural extension of the space.'

Small tweaks can bring a heritage feel to a living room. A leather-bound tray filled with a wintry candle is enough to elevate a coffee table, as is a simple plaid throw cushion scattered on a sofa, just make sure to incorporate a traditional color palette. 'Start with deep navy and chocolate brown, then introduce pattern and texture through jacquard fabrics, ribbons, and soft furnishings,' Shailja says.

3. Food-Themed Decor

'Food-themed and 90s decor are going to be huge this year,' says seasonal decorator Meg Ross, founder of Memphis by Meg. 'The organic, natural, and timeless aspects bring back the cozy feel of the 90s. For millennials, this calls back to our childhood, bringing fond memories and nostalgia. Think sugared berries, apples, dried orange garlands, and pears in trees and garlands! My main tree will incorporate all of these with the addition of dried hydrangeas.'

A dried orange garland drape on a Christmas mantel is a timeless example of this wintry decor trend, but for those wanting to stray from tradition, creating a story-like, surreal feel can be achieved with so-good-you-could-eat accessories like McGee & Co's Tangerine tower designed to bring whimsy to the tabletop.

'For my own home, we decided to play up on the food factor and decorated for the holidays to feel more opulent and go for a more is more style,' says Alykhan Velji of Aly Velji Designs. 'Decorating with dried oranges and fruits for the tree and wreaths, creating a luxe and layered tablescape that gave an almost Renaissance still-life feel. We love to create rich layers and textures for this holiday decor style.'

4. Kitschy Retro

Tinsel-covered bannisters and trees covered in vibrant glass baubles might sound like a walking '80s design trend, but 'kitschmas' is actually one of this year's biggest Christmas trends. A love-or-hate-it aesthetic that brings the garish, statement accessories from past holidays back on the scene, retro decorations are a light-hearted way to inject festivity into the home.

Whimsical baubles (John Derian we're looking at you) are one such example of ways to decorate your Christmas tree in homage to 'kitschmas', as are mounds of lametta tinsel. It's also about creating a playful palette, too. 'Christmas is as much about the feeling you create as the colors you choose; you don’t have to rely on red, green, and gold to make a space feel festive,' says Shailja.

'Layer these with seasonal greenery and warm lighting, adding touches of pink for an unexpected accent. The richness comes from the combination of color, texture, and light, rather than an abundance of overtly festive motifs.'

5. Rustic Country

The wicker Christmas trend invites handcrafted, characterful details into our homes. Tying into the rustic country aesthetic that makes use of past loved treasures and antique ornaments, this pared-back look embraces the best parts of country decorating. 'It’s relaxed and welcoming, and it suits almost any home, from a city flat to a farmhouse,' says Sarah Barclay, interior designer and Founder of The Dressed Tree. 'There’s a real charm to natural textures like wicker, jute and felt, and they bring a coziness that’s hard to achieve with glass baubles alone.'

'I think rustic country style will be the one to watch,' says Sarah. 'After a few years of very glossy, shop-bought-looking trees, people are craving something with more warmth and character. Handmade decorations feel personal and have a story behind them, which is really what Christmas is about.'

'Start with texture rather than color. I’d layer wicker stars and handmade felt animals with jute twine, a few pine cones and sprigs of foliage tucked deep into the branches. Keep the palette neutral, with creams, soft browns and deep greens, and add a touch of red for warmth. Warm white lights matter too, as they give that soft, firelit glow. The key is choosing pieces that work together as a collection, so it feels considered and cozy rather than cluttered.'

6. Powder Blue

Powder blue might have been a fall color trend, but it's continuing to make its mark on our interiors in the Christmas season, too. It might not be conventionally 'festive', but it's just as charming, whimsical, and timeless as any red and green color palette.

Best displayed in interior designer Shea McGee's latest Christmas collection, the powdery blue hue is scattered throughout the range, from velvet blue baubles to charming bows designed to bring whimsy to any corner.

'They bring tension, and that’s what keeps a layered space from feeling too precious or too matchy,' says designer Heather French of French & French Interiors on unexpected color palettes like blue and red. 'Our core holiday pieces never change: inherited nutcrackers, antique Christmas pyramids, handmade glass ornaments. An unexpected color story lets us present them in a new way each year. Pairing pieces with story and staying power with something a little flashier makes the whole look feel collected and alive rather than static or overly traditional or overdone.'

Few decorations conjure instant nostalgia like wicker. Familiar, wintry, and effortlessly rustic, wicker decorations are classic, year-round crafts, but in the winter months, nothing beats their lived-in coziness – providing the comfort our homes crave the most. As we continue to show love for hand-crafted, folk styles, the way we decorate for Christmas is changing, too. These handwoven pieces encourage us to give thought to the craftsmanship behind our decorations and invest in a time-worn practice that radiates the charming country style we all know and love.

The beauty of this vintage Christmas decor trend is its timelessness; wicker decorations aren't a fleeting seasonal trend that feels dated come next year; their character only becomes better with age.

Sissi Pohle and Patrick Scherzer of @tablesandfood, collect wicker baskets, decorative vessels, and ornaments year-round. Last year, they used pieces from their rattan collection to create a show-stopping, folk-inspired Christmas tree. 'Our aim is to be able to use items and objects throughout the year, not just during a specific season,' explain Sissi and Pat. 'Our large collection of rattan and wicker items is used constantly and everywhere. Last year, we even used them on the Christmas tree. From tiny dollhouse furnishings to large, imposing objects – every item has found its place on the real pine tree we bought from a farmer in a nearby village.'

'To be honest, we had no idea that it would become a trend for this year since we have been collecting wicker objects and baskets for a very long time,' Sissi and Pat continue. 'We pay close attention to the colors and condition of each object. Unusual designs, such as vases shaped with handles, are extremely rare. So it’s possible that, just like we did recently at a flea market in northern Italy, we’ll end up transporting a giant vase tucked under our arm on our old scooter. Wicker pieces are versatile and complement almost any interior design style.'

'Wicker baskets have always been, and continue to be, practical items for everyday use,' they add. 'They were traditionally used in agriculture, for example, to gather fruits and vegetables. You can recognize a high-quality basket by its materials – it should be made exclusively from natural materials and reinforced, for example, with pre-carved wood.'

Reminiscent of fallen branches, these collectible vintage holiday decorations bring a natural, organic feel to Christmas trees, mantels, and tabletops, blending perfectly with fresh foliage, dried orange garlands, and winter berries.

'I think they add that lovely natural texture and couple with Christmas glitz, it’s a match made in heaven!', says Jessica Daines. 'I think they lend themselves to so many different interior styles from contemporary to traditional. They are so easy to style and look good anywhere!'

In Jessica's living room (pictured above), a free-flowing rattan pendant brings gentle illumination to the room, whilst a wicker sleigh sits in the corner. Filled with vibrant ornaments, it transforms a plain wooden console into a considered, well-styled vignette that exudes festive charm.

Wicker decorations bring an effortlessly lived-in feel to interiors, no matter the season. However, come Christmas, their artisanal craftsmanship and wintry feel blend beautifully into homes, bringing with them the familiarity and comfort of past Christmases and those still to come.

Holiday decorating will look a bit different for me this year – in more ways than one. Having just moved to a new apartment, I’ve decided to restart my collection of Christmas decor. Instead of the hand-me-down decorations I've mostly inherited, I want pieces of my own, starting with a tree.

I’ve already decided that an artificial Christmas tree will be best for my small living room (the less mess, the better), and I’d prefer something mini – this way, it won’t overwhelm my already tight space. I’ve looked at loads of traditional options – realistic-looking mini-trees, slim fir styles, even planter-bound trees with pinecone branches – but ultimately, I decided on something a little different than my usual evergreen: a White Potted Tree from Anthropologie.

In the past, I’ve gravitated towards traditional Christmas trees – full-bodied firs in cozy shades of dark green. This white tree from Anthropologie is the antithesis of that – it’s short, sparse, and most notably, white. And it's so on trend for 2026.

A modern take on Scandi-inspired holiday decor, this tree is minimal and quietly chic. Leave it bare or adorned with a simple string of white lights, and it'll look like it belongs in the depths of a snow-covered Nordic forest – bringing a peaceful, winter wonderland charm into your living room.

On the other hand, this tree can be the blank canvas for your boldest holiday ideas – all thanks to its white branches. Style it with multi-colored twinkle lights, vibrant baubles in varying sizes, and a whimsical bow on top, and watch it become the playful accent that excites your home during the holiday season.

Clearly, versatility is a major selling point for this tiny tree, but it's not the only reason I'm buying it for my home. Practically speaking, this model is a perfect alternative to traditional trees because of its small size. It can tuck comfortably into a corner – staying out of the way but remaining noticeable and impactful.

For small spaces, like mine, it's an unbeatable option. But even for larger homes, this tree can become a useful holiday decor feature. Rather than making it the main focus of a living room, I'd style it in less conventional areas of the home – a staircase landing, a hallway, even a reading nook. Its snowy look will radiate seasonal charm anywhere you need it.

There are lots of benefits to mini Christmas trees. Not only are they great for spaces in which full-size trees can’t fit, but they’re also good for spreading holiday cheer in less obvious parts of your home. Aside from Anthropologie’s White Potted Tree, find a few more options below that are just as chic.

When I was a child, going to my grandmother’s house around Christmastime felt like taking a trip to the North Pole. She was a holiday decorator to her core, so every single inch of her home was filled with some sort of Christmas decor – from the lit reindeer on the front porch to the holiday-scented candles in her bathroom.

My favorite feature, however, was always the Christmas village she had on display in her cozy living room. Lined up on the console table behind her couch, this village had everything – a schoolhouse, a bakery, a florist; the list goes on and on. Six-year-old me spent hours gazing at it, imagining that little people lived there, and they too were preparing for Christmas Day.

Ever since, I have wanted to recreate my grandmother's Christmas village. Lennox is, of course, known for its beautiful ceramic Christmas houses, and this year Pottery Barn and Target have versions too. For some lovely, affordable options, I have also just spied that ALDI has released the sweetest, nostalgic, classically holiday-inspired Hotel Village House.

Everything about its design reminds me of the houses my grandmother had in her collection – from its snowy roof to its white-tipped trees and even the charming bows adorning its facade. Plus, it lights up from the inside – mimicking the warm and inviting holiday scene I remember so fondly from childhood.

It's decorations like this that make the holiday season feel so magical – helping you rediscover the childlike wonder you had as a kid. I can already picture this little hotel in my living room – sitting on my Christmas mantel, radiating nostalgic charm and glowing with warm, ambient light.

If you're just starting your Christmas village collection like me, consider this the perfect first piece. Its classic Christmas color scheme allows it to stand on its own or in a small holiday vignette.

However, if you're looking to grow your village collection, this ceramic hotel is the perfect next purchase. After all, where will all the imaginary vacationers stay while they're visiting your Christmas village? You just need a hotel.

Aside from this charming ceramic hotel, ALDI's Christmas collection has more whimsical buildings. All for just $12.99, these ceramic buildings can help you expand your Christmas village into an entire holiday empire – right in your own home.

ALDI's Hotel Village House is a reminder that Christmas decorating doesn't need to be trend-driven or overcomplicated. Sometimes, the best holiday features are the ones that are nothing more than nostalgic – making you experience the childlike joy of the Christmas season once again. ALDI's Gingerbread Christmas Decorations have the same effect, so after completing your Christmas village, consider making another one out of gingerbread-inspired ceramic, too.

Although red and green will always be the most iconic Christmas colors, a refreshing new hue has found its way into this year’s holiday palette – the soft, soothing, and seasonally-inspired shade of baby blue.

Like an icy complement to the usual holiday shades, baby blue adds a fresh layer of visual interest to traditional Christmas decor ideas. This color trend is a natural fit for coastal-inspired Christmas displays, which is why there’s no shortage of it in Serena and Lily’s holiday collection. But removed from the coastal context, these powdery blues feel like a new classic for Christmas that can reimagine even the most traditional holiday schemes with cool, understated elegance.

This season, many of our favorite brands featured sweet shades of pale blues in their holiday collections, and McGee & Co.’s range was one of the first to catch our attention. Designer Shea McGee incorporated the color in the form of flowing bows, ribbons, and even painted ornaments – each acting as a tasteful accent to her heritage-inspired holiday range. Baby blue has also been spotted in Crate & Barrel's holiday collection in the form of a whimsical Bell Garland, Frontgate has added this pale hue among the red and greens with its Chalet Stocking and for Lulu and Georgia's new collection, pale blue comes in the form of a luxurious smoky-toned velvet tree skirt.

Though much cooler than the holiday shades we’re used to, this color doesn’t feel out of place. Instead, it provides the perfect contrast – a light and airy alternative to soften the heaviness that can sometimes overwhelm holiday displays. It doesn’t need to be the main color of your Christmas arrangement either; just add a few pops of it here and there and watch as it gives the scene an entirely new feeling.

This soft and charming shade is proof that having a blue Christmas isn’t necessarily a sad thing (we're looking at you, Elvis). Shop our assortment of stylish baby blue Christmas decor below.

Wouldn’t it be nice to relive your childhood memories of Christmas? The handmade decorations hung on the tree, the mismatched stockings mounted by the fire, the humble simplicity of it all. Well, with GreenRow’s newly released Christmas collection, you can bring those nostalgic holiday memories back to life.

This collection is sentimental to its core – complete with all sorts of nostalgia-inducing Christmas decor ideas that’ll help you rediscover the childlike wonder of the holiday season itself. Think patchwork-patterned stockings, handwoven rattan trees, hand-painted plates, and even paper mache ornaments – all details that give this collection a strong sense of playfully homemade holiday charm.

Instead of the traditional Christmas color scheme of red and green, this collection expands the palette to include shades of pink, purple, blue, and yellow – a whimsical contrast of colors that might not scream Christmas, but when paired together, feel so right for this time of the year. And although the collection is grounded in a timeless, heritage-inspired aesthetic, there are a few trend-driven touches, too – bows being one of them. From the leftover fabric bow ornaments to the large Starry Patchwork Bow, this seasonal touch brings softness and warmth to any corner of the home.

With all of its handmade-inspired details – from the Floral Candle Clip Ornament and the Remnant Fabric Beaded Garland to the Floral Gingham Patchwork Stocking – this collection truly feels like stepping into a holiday memory. It’s welcoming, warm, and full of festive spirit – destined to make your home feel like the coziest house this holiday season.

When I moved into my New York City apartment back in the heat of summer, holiday decorating was the last thing on my mind. At the time, the more pressing matter was cramming my entire life into a studio.

Now that Christmas is just around the corner, however, I'm beginning to wonder how to bring the holiday spirit into my apartment when I have hardly any space to spare. Easy holiday decor ideas like festive pillows, scented candles, and seasonal tabletop trinkets make a slight difference, but they only go so far. I need a Christmas tree to make my space come to life – the only issue is I have absolutely nowhere to put it.

I thought about getting a small fake tree, but even that would look out of place considering every corner is already occupied and every tabletop is already filled. I even considered getting tiny tree-shaped trinkets for my dresser, but as someone who loves decorating for Christmas, I knew that wouldn't cut it. Then I found the winner: IKEA's VINTERFINT Wall Decoration.

IKEA's VINTERFINT Wall Decoration refashions the traditional Christmas tree into a sleek, Scandinavian-inspired wall decor idea for the holiday season. For those with small living rooms, it's the perfect alternative to a bulky, space-consuming tree. By mounting to the wall, this pine-crafted version saves floor space and doubles as an artful wall decoration – bringing a little seasonal spirit to a spot that would otherwise be left bare. Not only that, but it's so much more affordable than a standard Christmas tree at only $25.

Just like an accordion wall rack, this tree-shaped decoration can be stretched out to your desired width – from a slim, 1.5' tree to a wide 3.5' tree. And just like a standard Christmas tree, it can be decorated with any ornaments of your choosing.

Although it might not look like the Christmas trees I'm used to, IKEA's VINTERFINT Wall Decoration will signal the holiday season with the same timeless charm as a real Douglas fir, and it'll spare me the stress of trying to fit an actual tree in my tiny apartment.

Although IKEA's VINTERFINT Wall Decoration is, first and foremost, a Christmas decoration, its use isn't limited to just that. Because of the several protruding pegs attached to its frame, it can be used as a wall storage idea anywhere around the home, any time of year.

Out of the several 5-star reviews that this piece receives, one reviewer raved about its versatility: 'Whether used as an Advent calendar holder, a place for keepsakes, cards, keychains, a scarf and hat rack, a bathroom towel hook, or a belt and necklace holder… this thing is just super hands-on. Whether on the wall or on the door… it’s great,' they remark.

IKEA's top-rated VINTERFINT Wall Decoration is so much more than just a clever alternative to the Christmas tree. It's a space-saving holiday decorating idea, an adornment to beautify blank walls, and a makeshift storage idea for those with tight homes – for just $25. I have a feeling this won't stay in stock for very long, so get one for your home while you still can.

Traditional Thanksgiving tablescapes tend to follow a familiar formula: an autumnal tablecloth sets the scene, special-occasion dinnerware takes centre stage, and seasonal gourds and garlands complete the look. It's a timeless approach, but one that can feel a little predictable – particularly when the same styling ideas appear on tables year after year.

That's what makes Anthropologie's Thanksgiving tableware feel so refreshing this season. With pastoral scenes on plates, farm animal-inspired accessories and a distinctive palette of blues, greens and browns, the collection offers a more imaginative take on traditional Thanksgiving table decor ideas. Rather than leaning into an overly rustic aesthetic, it embraces a romantic, whimsical style that feels both nostalgic and delightfully unexpected.

The effect is almost like stepping into a bucolic fantasy – a Rococo painting brought to life, complete with pastoral charm and an idyllic, storybook quality. The Judarn Dinner Plates capture this beautifully, with artfully detailed rims adorned with botanical and bird motifs. Natural wooden accents, including the Laguoile Flatware Set and the Wood Cheese Board, bring warmth and texture to the table, while playful finishing touches – from animal-shaped candle holders to decorative cheese knives – add a distinctly provincial charm.

The result is a Thanksgiving table that feels collected, characterful and a little more enchanting than the usual autumnal arrangement.

Rather than feeling overly themed, this decor offers a way to create a tablescape that feels fresh, uplifting and a little different from the usual Thanksgiving fare. The light, nature-inspired palette plays a big part, with blues, greens and browns taking the place of the auburns and burnt oranges traditionally associated with the holiday. These versatile shades also mean the dinnerware can be enjoyed well beyond Thanksgiving, bringing the same welcoming, storybook charm to your table throughout the year.

If your usual Thanksgiving setup is starting to feel a little tired, consider giving it a romantic, pastoral twist with Anthropologie's pastoral-inspired accessories. From characterful dinnerware to whimsical finishing touches, these are the pieces to help you create an idyllic tablescape of your own.

A traditional Christmas tree will always have its place, but this year, we're seeing a growing interest in alternative designs that take a more sculptural, minimalist approach to festive decorating. From pared-back metal frames to smaller tabletop trees, these designs offer a fresh way to bring Christmas into every corner of the home. I'm always inspired by Joanna Gaines' ability to make interiors feel warm and welcoming without overcomplicating them, and this understated design is a lovely example.

Priced at $34.99, the 24-inch Metal Christmas Tree Ornament Display from her Hearth & Hand with Magnolia collection at Target swaps evergreen branches for a simple gold-tone metal frame. Its open silhouette puts the focus on the ornaments themselves, while the warm metallic finish adds a subtle festive shimmer. It's an elegant choice for anyone who wants their Christmas decorating to feel a little more considered.

Personally, I'd be tempted to use it in the kitchen. It's a space that's often overlooked when decorating for Christmas, despite being at the heart of so much festive activity. Placed on a kitchen island, countertop or open shelf, this little tree would add seasonal charm without taking up too much space.

I'd decorate it with a mix of understated and playful pieces, including Target's Hinged Organic Glass Christmas Tree Ornament Bauble and Anthropologie's Jeweled Food Glass Ornament. I love the idea of pairing the delicate glass bauble with the colourful, jewel-like food decoration for a display that feels a little unexpected, but still considered. Finished with natural wood, simple ceramics and a few sprigs of evergreen, it would be a lovely way to bring a touch of Christmas into the kitchen.

The key to styling an alternative tree like this is to embrace its simplicity. 'Alternative Christmas trees are a wonderful way to make festive decorating feel more personal,' says Hebe Hatton, Head of Interior Design at Homes & Gardens. 'Rather than trying to recreate a traditional tree on a smaller scale, embrace the design for what it is. Choose ornaments that complement its shape and materials, and don't feel you need to fill every space. Sometimes, a simpler display makes each decoration feel that little bit more special.'

That's exactly how I'd approach this design. A handful of carefully chosen decorations will let the frame shine, whether you opt for delicate glass baubles, vintage finds or sentimental ornaments collected over the years. Soft whites, muted greens and gold would create a cohesive palette, while mismatched decorations could bring a more playful, personal feel.

At around two feet tall, this tree would work just as well on a hallway console or dining-room sideboard, bringing a festive touch to spaces where a full-size tree might feel excessive. It's also a lovely way to give favourite ornaments a new lease of life, without investing in an entirely new collection.

Joanna Gaines' minimalist design captures what makes this alternative-tree trend so appealing: Christmas decorating doesn't have to revolve around a traditional evergreen to feel special. If you're looking for more inspiration, I've rounded up my favorite alternative Christmas tree ideas to help you embrace a different kind of festive decorating this year.

Christmas might be a winter holiday, but according to Serena and Lily, it doesn't have to look like one – the brand's newly released holiday collection is just as light and coastal as you would expect.

Instead of the typically dark Christmas colors of red and green, this collection lightens things up with soft greens and ocean-inspired blues – the latter being an unexpected color trend that we're loving for the holiday season. And that's just the start. Other coastal decor elements find their way into this drop, too, including rattan (woven into these chic tabletop trees) and Capiz shell (used to make this lustrous hurricane candle holder), making this collection look like it belongs in a seaside home decked out for the holiday season.

As a classically coastal take on Christmas, this collection refashions traditional holiday decorating ideas through a fresh yet desirable design perspective. Even just a few of these pieces can make your home feel layered with seasonal charm – blending the inviting nature of the holidays with the light effervescence of coastal design. Not only that, but the collection ties in some of our favorite decorating trends as well, with pieces like the fringe-lined tree collar, the raffia tassel pack, and the bow-adorned napkin rings acting as design-driven accoutrements for this Christmas-meets-coastal holiday drop.

When it comes to decorating for Christmas, there's no such thing as doing too much. At least according to Lulu and Georgia, whose newly released holiday collection – aptly titled 'The More, The Merrier' – encourages a maximalist take on decking the home for the holiday season.

Brimming with chic garlands, patterned pillows, and other festive accoutrements, this collection reimagines traditional Christmas decor into stylized seasonal accessories that'll make your home look holiday-inspired and trend-driven. It presents a refreshed take on the Christmas color palette, with shades of burgundy, sage, mustard yellow, and brown complementing the classic red and green. Plus, a plethora of patterned accessories like the Talcott Striped Stocking and the Royce Floral Tree Skirt bring character, liveliness, and layered charm to the scene.

Taking center stage in this holiday range is the bow decor trend. Lulu and Georgia's holiday drop has them in all forms – from the tiny Seaton Beaded Bow Ornament or the base of the Ribbon Candlestick to the nearly 5' tall Decorative Bow that commands attention with its substantial presence. These tastefully tied-up touches can bring visual interest and festive energy anywhere around the home, which is exactly why they come back year after year.

Lulu and Georgia's Christmas drop is the key to creating a holiday home that feels richly layered, tastefully trend-informed, and full of character. If it's any indication as to what design trends will define this year's Christmas season, then we should expect bows to bask in their never-ending popularity, holiday color schemes to take on a more refreshed look, and the decorating mood to skew luxuriously maximalist.

If you’ve been saving Christmas decorating ideas lately, you may have noticed one festive detail appearing everywhere: the bow. For Christmas 2026, it’s getting bigger, bolder and much more of a statement, moving from a pretty finishing touch to a decoration in its own right.

Bows have been building momentum as a Christmas trend for the past few years, but this season the proportions are changing. Oversized bows are taking centre stage, adding softness and a sense of occasion to even the simplest Christmas schemes.

The look also taps into our enduring love of nostalgic Christmas decorating ideas. A large bow at the top of a tree has all the familiarity of a Christmas from years gone by, but supersizing it gives the traditional detail a fresher, more fashion-forward feel. It’s a balance we’re seeing across festive collections this year, too, with Anthropologie’s 2026 Christmas collection leaning heavily into nostalgic motifs and traditional references, but with a distinctly modern finish.

One Bow Can Be Enough

The good news is that you don't need to commit to a tree covered in bows to embrace the trend. In fact, one oversized bow Christmas tree topper can have far more impact than lots of smaller ones.

Positioned at the very top of the tree, a large bow immediately draws the eye upwards and can make a relatively simple tree feel much more considered. This works particularly well if you've kept the rest of your decorations pared back, allowing the bow to become the focal point rather than competing with a busy collection of ornaments.

Anthropologie’s Willow Plaid Bow Tree Topper is a particularly good example of the look. Its oversized proportions and traditional plaid pattern tap into the nostalgic side of seasonal decorating, while its scale gives it a distinctly modern feel.

Think Beyond the Tree

The oversized-bow Christmas tree topper trend doesn't have to stop at the tree, either. A generous ribbon bow can bring the same effect to a mantel, front door, or wreath, creating a thread of festive decoration throughout your home.

On a Christmas mantel, try one large bow positioned at one end rather than scattering several smaller ones across the display. On a front door, a substantial bow can turn even a simple wreath into a statement decoration.

And if your Christmas tree is already heavily decorated, adding a bow to a wreath instead can be an easy way to introduce the trend without making the room feel overly busy.

The key is restraint: one or two oversized bows will make more impact than a scattering of smaller ones. Choose a ribbon that complements your scheme, from nostalgic plaid and velvet to sleek satin or grosgrain. Sometimes, one beautifully oversized detail is all it takes to give a familiar Christmas look a fresh, modern feel.

On October 31st, when the neighborhood is filled with costume-clad trick-or-treaters collecting candy, it won't matter how spooky the inside of your home looks. Instead, it's all about your porch Halloween decor.

As the first thing you notice from the street, the porch sets the tone of your home. And during Halloween, the porch's busiest day for socializing and sharing treats, it becomes a blank canvas for Halloween decor – signaling to the neighborhood that you're participating in the spooky holiday.

If you prefer an eerie aesthetic, stage Pottery Barn's Terracotta Tombstone on your steps and Amazon's Black Leaf Garland around your doorframe. For a nostalgic Halloween look, opt for these purple string light bats from Home Depot and this jack-o-lantern porch sign from Michaels. And time-consuming holiday setups are for you, simply hang Shea McGee's Morticia Wreath from your door and rest Joss & Main's Bat Doormat at your feet. Sometimes, just a few key pieces of outdoor Halloween decor on your porch can go a long way.

We all know that houses with exciting porch Halloween decor get the most love on Halloween night. If your porch is in need of some frightfully festive adornments ahead of October 31st, then shop our favorite picks below.

There’s something about gingerbread Christmas decor that instantly makes a home feel a little more magical. I’ve just bought Pottery Barn’s Handcrafted Gingerbread Tree for my table, and it’s completely convinced me to lean into the sweet, nostalgic trend this year. If you’re looking for a more affordable option, Amazon’s Gingerbread Christmas Tree Centerpiece is a great alternative – and just as charming.

With its playful details and old-fashioned charm, it’s the kind of decoration that makes you want to turn your home into a little Christmas wonderland. Gingerbread Christmas decorating ideas have been having a major moment, but the tradition behind it is anything but new.

Gingerbread has been part of North American holiday culture for more than 200 years, while gingerbread houses became closely associated with Christmas after the tradition was brought to America by German immigrants. Now, that nostalgic look is popping up everywhere from Christmas trees and mantels to tables and shelves – and I can completely see why.

That’s why I was so excited to spot ALDI’s Merry Moments Gingerbread Tree decoration, which launches on Wednesday 7 October. At just $9.99, it’s an easy and affordable way to bring some of that gingerbread magic to your Christmas tree, and its whimsical design has exactly the nostalgic appeal I’m looking for this year.

What makes ALDI’s collection particularly fun is that the gingerbread theme doesn’t have to stop at one decoration. There are several coordinating pieces, making it easy to build a charming little festive scene throughout your home without everything feeling too matchy-matchy. It’s the kind of collection that makes you want to keep adding just one more piece.

What I love most about gingerbread decor is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Christmas decorating can sometimes become all about achieving the perfect color palette or creating the most sophisticated-looking tree, but gingerbread pieces bring back some of the fun. They feel cheerful, cozy, and wonderfully nostalgic, almost like stepping into a Christmas bakery.

I’d happily mix ALDI’s gingerbread decoration into a tree filled with classic red-and-green baubles, warm white lights, ribbons, and wooden ornaments. The warm, traditional colors work beautifully with pieces you may already own.

And I love that the trend works beyond the tree, too. My new gingerbread centerpiece is going straight onto my Christmas table, while smaller gingerbread-inspired pieces could easily be styled on a Christmas mantel, shelf, console table, or kitchen counter. Even adding just one or two can give a room that cozy, whimsical feel.

The gingerbread decor trend feels current without feeling like a fleeting Christmas theme. It taps into the nostalgia we already associate with the holiday season while giving us a playful way to make our homes feel even more festive.

ALDI’s gingerbread pieces are exactly the kind of Christmas decor I can imagine bringing out year after year. Because when it comes to Christmas, a little nostalgia, a little sweetness, and a lot of gingerbread never really go out of style.

Gingerbread-inspired decor is a charming way to bring a playful, nostalgic touch to your home this festive season, and I’ve rounded up my favorite styles to help you nail the look this Christmas.

If you love a nostalgic Christmas, we’ve curated a selection of our favorite childhood-inspired decorations and timeless festive finds in our Amazon Storefront.

As the queen of all things vintage-inspired, Joanna Gaines knows a thing or two about creating home decor that imbues nostalgia – pieces that sing with character, charming style, and rich heritage appeal. Her newly released holiday collection at Target is no different.

Like taking a step back in time to Christmases past, this collection is packed with classic holiday decor ideas that'll make you feel like a child again. A traditional color palette of red and green sets the scene of this near-200-piece drop, while certain trend-driven details give this collection its modern heirloom appeal.

Brass accents, for example, are everywhere – from the frame of the Perpetual Advent Calendar and the bases of the Clip-On Candle Ornaments to the tracks and cars of the Brass Train Set. With an enchanting sheen, these metallic touches can give your home a warm glow throughout the holiday season.

If the brass accents provide the shine, then it's the collection's wood elements that keep it grounded. As another major player in this holiday range, wood details like the Wooden Tree Collar, the Wooden Bead Garland, and the Wood Base Lit Candle radiate rustic elegance. Together, they form a vintage-inspired collection with modern appeal, designed to make your home look as inviting as a childhood Christmas memory brought back to life.

I love to decorate for Halloween; however, I have never been much of a fan of the overly kitschy look that most spooky season decor gives off. I like to stick with the classics – a collection of real pumpkins and gourds piled up on my porch and dotted along my mantel.

I do encounter the same issue each year, though. While my outside Halloween decor display sees me through from mid-September to Thanksgiving, the pumpkins in the house always start to look a bit sad come October. And I am not about to switch to plastic. Instead, this year, I'm opting for faux variations that look as timeless as real pumpkins but are as long-lasting as plastic ones. Enter: ALDI's Burnt Orange Paper Pumpkins.

Despite their simplicity, these paper pumpkins can do so much for a Halloween display. For starters, their burnt orange color is divine – a refined and elegant contrast to the glaring orange shade that most faux pumpkins take. Plus, their paper materiality, honeycomb texture, and height difference can give a fall vignette such visual interest. They'll bring some refreshing, rustic charm and a hint of crafty, DIY flair to your Halloween scene without even trying.

Since they're so affordable (just $7 for a set of two), you can get several packs to style around your home. And after the holiday is over, they're easy to fold back up for off-season storage. Consider them the key to a low-effort but high-impact Halloween display.

I plan on getting a few of ALDI's Burnt Orange Paper Pumpkins for my home. I'll put some on my Halloween tablescape, one on my entryway credenza, and a couple more on my living room coffee table. These versatile holiday decorations will make every room feel on-theme for Halloween without ever looking too kitschy.

ALDI's Burnt Orange Paper Pumpkins aren't the only chic Halloween decorations I've bought for the holiday. Below, find a few more accessories that I'm using to give my home an elevated look this spooky season.

I'm convinced that Aldi's Burnt Orange Paper Pumpkins are the perfect alternatives to tacky plastic pumpkins – if not for their DIY appeal and rustic aesthetic, then definitely for their affordability and versatility.

But if you're looking for something a little less crafty, check out our collection of wicker Halloween decor, instead. This trend makes Halloween look chicer than ever before.

Have you ever wanted to take a step inside the whimsical world of Lone Fox? I know I have. It’s the brainchild of designer Drew Michael Scott – a brand and creative platform centered around vintage inspiration, character-rich details, and a charming, old-meets-new aesthetic. And now, it’s coming to West Elm.

This fall, Drew and West Elm have teamed up to unveil a collection of Lone Fox-inspired home decor – from dinnerware and throw pillows to Christmas decorations and cozy bedding. According to Drew, it's a collection that's meant to live with you through fall, winter, the holiday season, and well after.

Although it's not Drew's first collaborative endeavor – his rug drops with Joon Loloi are always a hit – this collection is still a special one, given the fact that Drew started his career in design working at West Elm years ago. Call it a full-circle moment; this collection brings everything we love and admire about the Lone Fox world that Drew has tirelessly built right into the heart of our homes, just in time for cozy season.

Take one look at the collection, and you can see the Lone Fox influence as clear as day. For those unfamiliar, think of Drew's aesthetic as an eclectic mix of old-world influences and modern design trends. It’s characterized by warm color palettes, aged metallic finishes, soft textiles, and of course, DIY details – all of which come through in this collection.

‘I really wanted to hone in on the ‘Lone Fox’ look, but I still wanted to make it really fun,’ Drew tells Homes & Gardens.

The collection's visual palette is what pulls you in at first glance. It's so warm, so inviting, and so Lone Fox. Shades of green, brown, and maroon are tastefully complemented with metallic tones that give this collection that seasonally elevated flair.

'I tend to use a lot of warm tones, but I like to mix in a fun cool tone every now and then,' Drew tells me. 'We stuck to more moody colors here, but then we also brought in the element of mixed metals like iron and brass to add another layer to the collection's palette.'

While the earth-toned color scheme grounds this collection, a playful sense of whimsy comes through, too. According to Drew, we can see this in pieces like the Faux Bois Centerpiece and the Woodland Fireplace Screen – each designed to look like they've been plucked straight from the forest, despite being made from ceramic and iron, respectively. These character-rich pieces feel classically Lone Fox, topped with a hint of whimsical flair.

And true to Drew's roots as a DIY-er, the collection has an underlying custom-made feeling to it. 'We really wanted each piece to have a sense of it being handmade,' Drew tells me. Like the beaded ornaments, the intricately stitched stockings, and even the embroidered pillows, everything was created with the utmost intention. 'There are lots of little details that went into every single product that really made them stand out,' Drew continues.

What's best about this collection – aside from its inviting nature, its thoughtful design details, and heritage-inspired aesthetic – is that it's not season-specific. Sure, there are stockings, ornaments, and garland strands that will be perfect for Christmas decorating, but it was Drew's intention for the collection to transcend seasonal constraints.

'I really wanted to make a collection that could transition through the fall and the holiday season, but then also be able to live in your home year-round,' he tells me. It helps that the collection has such a grounding palette of earth tones and warm metallic accents. Plus, there's nothing overly holiday-themed either. It's more like a wonderful, winter woodland-inspired aesthetic – which feels so right for this cozy time of year.

Another reason why this collection is so desirable is that it can easily blend with everything you already own. 'I want [the collection] to mix and match with what you have,' Drew continues. He tells me that he sees it complementing your preexisting fall and winter decor, or, becoming the new base upon which you add more decorative elements.

Drew Michael Scott has a way of infusing everything he makes with such character, warmth, and charm. And his debut collection at West Elm is no different. It feels like stepping into the pages of a nostalgic storybook – complete with charming visuals, woodland details, and an old-world aesthetic. Drew's thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and consideration is apparent in every piece, and it makes for a collection that feels of heirloom quality.

Whether you need some inspiring fall finds, more Christmas decor, or accent pieces to warm up your home this winter, the Lone Fox and West Elm collection is sure to have the character-rich picks you're looking for. Shop our favorites below.

We always approach the 'core' trends with slight caution on Homes & Gardens. These fun but fleeting trends tend to have a lot of buzz when they first appear, but can fizzle out within weeks. However, the most recent 'core' trend has our attention. Not only because it sounds so tempting, but because the premise behind this trend has roots in a more timeless aesthetic.

Burrowcore is the most recent fall trend to take over social media. More of a mindset than just an interior design trend, it embraces the cozier, comforting side of decorating. It's whimsical and comforting, and exactly how you want your home to feel at this time of year.

'Burrowcore is all about creating a home you can sink into,' explains interior designer Michelle Gage. 'It’s cozy, layered, and a little cocoon-like; a space that makes you want to stay awhile. The key is surrounding yourself with pieces that feel as good as they look. We’re craving comfort at home more than ever, and Burrowcore takes that feeling of ‘I just want to stay in’ and turns it into a design aesthetic. It’s about creating little pockets of comfort that make everyday life feel calmer – a cozy reading corner, an extra-soft throw, warm lighting or nature-inspired accents.'

'Burrowcore represents a desire for spaces that bring comfort, peace, calm, and harmony to the home,' says Lauren Covino-Smith, Designer and Principal of Styled Ivy Interiors. 'This interior movement, all about “cocooning,” includes layers and textures that feel as soothing as curling up to the fire with a great read and a favorite throw blanket.'

'For me personally, it replicates all the feel-good elements of home,' continues Lauren, 'the soft glow of candlelight, a hot cappuccino, deep enveloping seating, textured throw pillows, dimly lit accent light fixtures (2700K bulb temperature only, please!), and an oversized chenille blanket big enough to wrap up in and still have some left to share with my two black labs. Colors should feel moody and earthy without being overly formal – moss, olive, tobacco, rust, and burgundy work wonders for that intimate feeling.'

'To me, the home must always be a sanctuary,' says designer Gisela Graham, 'a private space to slow down, unplug, and find absolute peace as the nights draw in. 'Burrowcore' is the perfect antidote to our hectic daily lives, but you don't need to buy a brand-new sofa to achieve it. You can easily create that inviting, cocoon-like feeling through clever layering.'

'Try piling up oversized, deeply textured cushions in brushed cotton or heavy bouclé to add immediate physical softness. Drape a chunky wool throw over the arm of your favorite chair, and switch out light summery scents for the grounding, flickering warmth of amber, spice, or woodsmoke candles. It is all about creating little pockets of comfort that make you feel instantly safe, warm, and entirely content the moment you step through the door.'

'When we are creating cozy spaces, we often either color-drench the room or incorporate generous doses of a dark, earthy color,' says Allison Smith of Gem & Clay Interiors. 'We always incorporate plenty of softness, in the form of throw blankets and fabric window treatments, as these are the touches that not only make the space feel complete, but they subtly address the very human need for safety and comfort.'

'In cozy rooms like this, layered, dimmable lighting is very important to be able to control the ambience at different times of day,' adds Allison. 'And wherever possible, every cozy room needs either a window seat, or at least a cozy place to sit by the window. As the seasons change, it is so nice to be able to watch the world outside while being safe, warm and comfortable inside.'

'To us, burrowcore is less of a trend and more of something our human souls need, and in such a technology-inundated life, now, more than ever, we need to feel like we have a safe, warm place to perch, to feel grounded, and to reflect.'

The 'Burrowcore' Edit

Burrow into the comfort of an armchair, bed, or reading nook this fall with these stylish picks designed to make your home feel its coziest.

'"Burrowcore” may be a new label, but it gives a name to something timeless,' explains interior designer Rebecca Midden. 'We have a physiological and psychological need to feel held by a room. At a moment when work, media, and public life pass continuously through our screens and into our homes, it makes sense that people are looking for interiors that restore a meaningful threshold between themselves and the outside world.'

Is there a pattern that feels more synonymous with fall than plaid? Year after year, this pattern trend finds its way back into the design scene right as the weather dips below 60 degrees. We see it in fashion (think printed flannel shirts, tartan jackets, and plaid-lined boots), but the pattern has just as much appeal in the world of interior design, offering that same cozy, effortless feel as your well-worn, comes-out-year-after-year plaid shirt.

This year, plenty of our favorite brands have featured plaid decor in their fall launches. Pottery Barn's Heritage Autumn collection utilizes traditional fall color schemes to make plaid the star of the show, with pieces like the Penelope Chair, the Cedrick Pillow, and the Woodrow Dinnerware Set. For 2026, GreenRow and Anthropologie have given plaid a colorfully refreshed look with the purple plaid pillow cover and the maroon and light blue trinket tray.

If you are looking to make those small seasonal switches in your home and slowly start making it feel cozier, introducing a touch of plaid will always work.
