'So, why is paisley making a significant comeback, especially on sofas? There's an increasing trend toward nostalgic revivalism in the interior design space,' she notes. 'People are growing tired of the stark, minimalist setups and craving more warmth, detail, and character. With its centuries-old allure and rich historical background, paisley offers precisely that.'

Aside from its nostalgic qualities, Keely adds that a paisley print exhibits a 'sense of elegance and complexity that's hard to match,' especially when featured on a substantial piece of furniture. 'Sofas are often the centerpiece of a room, and paisley turns them into a focal point that's both an artwork and a functional piece.'

She is certainly not alone in this trend forecast. 'A predicted trend for 2026: paisley is making a significant comeback, notably on sofas,' adds New York-based designer Artem Kropovinsky. He explains that this rise is driven by the growing popularity of bohemian and eclectic styles that embrace bold patterns, which feel particularly vibrant during the sunny summer months. 'Paisley brings a luxurious and sophisticated flair to spaces,' he says.

When selecting a paisley sofa, Artem recommends choosing a size that complements the room's existing aesthetics. For instance, you might opt for a smaller piece to introduce pattern accents into neutral spaces, or go large to create a striking focal point. Sadly, however, unlike Taylor's sofa, there's no cat included.

As the foremost expert in the field, obviously, decorating with dried flowers is central to her vision. She states: 'If they press flowers, they could decorate the table with the pressed flowers that they've worked so hard on.'

She continues, 'That's what I do with my tablescapes, and I use my own pressed flowers to make a flat lay on top of the tablecloth. It's so simple and natural, and it's a way of decorating your table that's very personal. I love the idea of a person who works so hard on pressing their flowers and displaying their hard work for people to see what they've made.'

This personalization is central to what Tricia loves about pressed flowers, and the naturalness of it is what makes her floral room decor unique.

She explains: 'It looks a little bit more imperfect and wild and kind of weird and interesting because pressed flowers are not always perfect, or they show something that is kind of unique, like the inside of a flower that we might not normally see, because I cut the flowers in half. I think it's a little bit more scientific and sexy, and it's more interesting. If you study what I'm doing, it looks very different than what a person would draw.'

Taylor Swift is expanding her famous 'High Watch' waterfront home in Westerly's Watch Hill neighborhood, according to building permits and zoning certificates.

The historic estate, known as a subject in her song The Last Great American Dynasty, has served as Swift's home since 2013. However, she has started renovation work following the end of her Era's tour (in which she became a certified billionaire). The mansion, perched on over 5 acres of gardens, with a pool and private 700-foot stretch beach, is already a jewel in Taylor Swift's property portfolio – but it's expected to get even better.

As per a building permit issued by the town of Westerly last month, contractors plan to construct a 400-square-foot expansion extension that will include a new bedroom and bathrooms. Her existing kitchen is also set to be upgraded as part of the renovation work, the Providence Journal says. The labor and materials for the renovation are expected to cost around $1.7 million, the permit suggests.

Reportedly, some fans have spotted the beginning stages of construction, including a crane and wood framing off the side of the house.

High Watch home, also known locally as the Harkness House, has stood as a landmark since its construction between 1929 and 1930 for the Snowden family, owners of an oil company, who named it Holiday House. In 1948, businessman William Harkness (who had spent the prior summer with his family in the house) bought the property for himself and his wife, Rebekah, for $80,000.

Rebekah is characterized by Swift in The Last Great American Dynasty – referencing how she filled the pool with champagne and gambled with Spanish artist Salvador Dalí. Rebekah also added a temporary ballet stage on the grounds before facing objections from neighbors and the state Supreme Court.

Interest in the property has inevitably increased further following Taylor Swift's ownership. From 2013 to 2016, she received press coverage for hosting her annual American Independence Day parties on the estate, in which celebrities, including Gigi Hadid and the Haim sisters, visited the decorated estate. The parties were not held from 2017 to 2022 but resumed in 2023, with Selena Gomez in attendance.

Last Independence Day, Swift was in Amsterdam performing on her Era's Tour, but she still spent time in Holiday House in August. She was seen with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes, and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, on the terrace.

Taylor Swift, arguably the most influential woman on the planet, doesn't just follow trends; she creates them. It is no surprise, then, that, following footage of her practicing crafts at home, we're officially enjoying an Arts and Crafts revival. 

Swift, who recently released her Tortured Poets Department album, paid homage to its first track, Fortnight, by sharing a YouTube Short made from a collection of moments taken over the space of two weeks. In the footage, she offers glimpses inside her home, starting with her patterned tiled kitchen (complete with a quaint copper kettle), and cat bathing on the ornate rug on the wooden floor of her living space. Most notably, though, Swift is seen tapping into the Arts and Crafts revival trend in two separate instances: the first via floral fabric on her sewing machine and the second at her dining room table, where she is seen hand-sewing butterfly shapes. 

Though it is unclear exactly what Swift is designing, her actions tap into a growing demand for personal, homemade goods (whether they're fashion or decor pieces) – all of which are designed to look unique and stand the test of time. 

As mentioned, the Arts and Crafts revival spans across varying industries – but its ideology remains the same. These homemade pieces are often made using locally found natural materials that reflect customs and traditions instead of ever-changing fashion movements. While it is labeled as a 'design trend', the revival is far from fleeting. These pieces are well-made with love, and, in terms of furniture, they're designed to be decorative and functional for many seasons ahead. 

Following the release of Swift's 'fortnight' recap, we can inevitably expect to see this trend surge – but what does this mean for our home? Valerie Ott, a trend forecaster from JOANN’s Editorial Director and Crafted Content team says '2024 is the year of unique crafting opportunities' – starting with candle painting.

'If you are looking to add a personal touch to your candles or create a unique, customized gift, painting candles is a fun activity that allows you to express your creative side and transform plain candles into eye-catching pieces of art,' Ott says.

Sewing and crochet are also on the rise, which is particularly good news for those looking to follow Swift's lead. For a fashionable starting point, Ott recommends experimenting with Granny Square-patterned crochet tiles. 

'In our opinion, Granny Square patterned crochet tiles are both enjoyable to DIY and serve as the perfect way to incorporate a trend in your home décor. This one isn't going away,' she says. 'Also, the coquette trend has people tying light pink bows on everything, but we've seen stacking bows and oversized bows, too. People can crochet or sew their own bows, or even just buy ribbon and tie them on.'

There's no disputing – Taylor Swift is the name on everyone’s lips. With the drop of her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, the music megastar has reached an untouchable level of stardom. However, despite her unrivaled glamor on stage, Swift’s interior design tastes remain as grounded as ever.

This is best embodied in the design at one of her favorite recording locations, the Hudson-Valley-based Long Pond Studios. The beautiful studio, owned by Swift’s long-time collaborator Arron Dessner of The National, follows a modern rustic design style. It serves as the backdrop for Swift’s documentary, Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions. In the film, which Swift released on Disney+ in 2020, she documents the artistic process of recording her eighth studio album alongside her producers Dessner and Jack Antonoff.

In addition to being the site of musical history, the Long Pond Studios are also an architectural wonder. Built by Erlend Neuman, the A-Frame barn conversion was created with creativity in mind. Their site describes the structure as, ‘an exacting combination of performance control and spatial cohesion.’ In addition to state-of-the-art acoustics and recording equipment, the building is deeply connected to the natural surroundings of the pond ecosystem and biodiversity in the NY forest.

If Taylor’s Folklore album was a space, it would be the Long Pond Studios. The barn is ultra-cozy, stylish, and warmly rustic. Experts say the feeling in the space is in large part due to the strong use of wood. Jennifer Ebert, color expert and digital editor at Homes & Gardens, states: ‘The wood ceiling, wood walls, and large windows flooding the space with light give the studio a grounding feeling that is perfect for preparing for creative expression.’

‘The blue and gray furniture matches perfectly with the rustic color scheme in the music room,' Ebert adds. 

'The cool palette gives the natural wood a more contemporary feel, contributing to the rustic modern design scheme in the studio. In addition to the large windows, this detail makes the space feel much more bright and airy than a typical rustic scheme.’

It is suitable for showing elegant dinner crockery as well as unusual culinary implements.

Jennifer Ebert, digital editor at Homes & Gardens says, 'Behind Taylor Swift, the open shelving gives us a view of Jack's beautiful copper pots and stylish splatterware dishes. These dishes make the kitchen feel warm and homey.'

Furthermore, experts say that open shelves will become a kitchen trend going forward. Artem told H&G, 'Kitchen open shelving will continue increasing its popularity in 2024. The concept falls in line with the modern trend towards personalized, functional spaces.'

If anybody is ahead of an emerging trend, it is Taylor Swift. Of course, this year's most talked-about figure has already shown her influence will prevail long into 2024 – in ways far beyond the music industry.  

The singer-songwriter may be currently embarking on her international Era's tour, but designers are most interested in her California home – or, more specifically, her living room, which plays host to a statement paisley sofa. 

Despite designers predicting paisley prints will front sofa trends in the year ahead, patterns like the one seen on Taylor's cream piece have a history rooted in 2000-year-old Indo-European cultures. The design itself originated near Kashmir in the 11th century but became more prevalent in the West in the 1800s following imports of post-Mughal Empire versions of the design from India. 

Since the 19th century, paisley has enjoyed many revivals, including in the '60s, when psychedelic era musicians brought groovy prints to the front of our homes. However, fueled by Taylor's influence, this pattern is forecast to enjoy another era topping design trends. Here's what experts think.

'Paisley is one of those fascinating patterns that has managed to transcend time and space, constantly reinventing itself in the most fashionable ways. The print is set to shine, particularly on living room sofas, in 2024,' says Home Stratosphere's design expert, Keely Smith.

'So, why is paisley making a significant comeback, especially on sofas? There's an increasing trend toward nostalgic revivalism in the interior design space,' she says. 'People are growing tired of the stark, minimalist setups and craving more warmth, detail, and character. With its centuries-old allure and rich historical background, paisley offers precisely that.'

Nostalgic qualities aside, Keely adds that a paisley print exhibits a 'sense of elegance and complexity that's hard to match,' especially when it comes to a sofa.  

'Sofas are often the centerpiece of a room, and paisley turns them into a focal point that's both an artwork and a functional piece.' And she's not alone in her trend forecast. 

'A predicted trend for 2024: paisley is making a significant comeback of paisley, notably on sofas,' adds New York-based designer Artem Kropovinsky. He adds that the rise is attributed to the growing popularity of bohemian and eclectic styles that embrace bold patterns. 'Paisley brings a luxurious and sophisticated flair to spaces,' he says.

When choosing a paisley sofa, Artem recommends choosing a size that complements our room's aesthetics, for example, choosing small for pattern accents in neutral rooms and large for a striking focal point. For the ultimate Taylor-inspired starting point (that will look good in every sized space), we're investing in this intricately patterned cushion below.

Few figures hold quite the same power as Taylor Swift, the musician and cultural force of the 21st century, who influences our everyday habits without even trying. But is she about to impact our sleeping habits, too? Sleep experts say she should be. 

According to those in the know, a dark-hued bedroom, much like Taylor's, is the perfect environment for encouraging a restful sleep – primarily due to its impact on the production of melatonin, which is the hormone responsible for regulating our sleep-wake cycles.

In her dark bedroom palette, Taylor experiments with moody gray paint, gold-brown curtains, and purple-brown luxury bedding – sounds like an odd mix but just see how perfectly it works. And all of these dark and moody hues apparently create a sleep-inducing space. Sleep expert Martin Seeley explains why we should, as always, follow Taylor's lead and try out these dramatic shades in our bedrooms. 

'The use of darker and more ominous tones in your bedroom's design can improve your sleep quality, firstly because of their impact on your bedroom's light control,' Martin says. 

'External light is more effectively blocked by darker furnishings. This is essential for creating a bedroom that's better for sleep – particularly if you live in a city with streetlights or early morning sunlight streaming into your room. Light disturbances can disrupt circadian rhythm and prevent profound sleep.' This is where the impact of melatonin comes into play. 

As mentioned, bright or artificial light can inhibit the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for regulating sleep-wake cycles. However, when we introduce darker tones – whether through bedroom paint, furnishings, or bedding – we are creating a more melatonin-friendly environment. 'This makes it easier to fall asleep and remain asleep.'

Similarly, these dark colors have their benefits in color psychology teaching – creating a space that is therapeutic and consequently beneficial when it comes to drifting into a deeper sleep. 

'Darker hues have a tendency to elicit feelings of intimacy and relaxation. They help reduce tension and anxiety, two common causes of sleep disturbances, by creating a warm and inviting atmosphere,' Martin says. 

'Specifically, brown is associated with stability and security. Brown bedding and curtains can subconsciously signal to the brain that the sleeping environment is secure and reassuring, thereby improving the overall quality of sleep.'

However, in all its dark tones, there is no denying that Taylor's bedroom has a sun-lit brightness amongst the moody undertones. Naturally, the footage comes from the daytime, when her room is illuminated by sunlight – but the singer has also incorporated softer elements through a chunky knitted throw and a large bedroom mirror that reflects the light around her room. And, of course, we should look to do the same.

'Despite the fact that darker tones offer these benefits, it is essential to achieve a balance,' explains Martin. 'Consider combining darker tones with lighter accents to maintain a harmonious and calming sleeping environment.'

In 2019, Taylor Swift proclaimed, 'I'd never walk Cornelia Street again,' but her lyrics may soon be a reality. 

The townhouse that inspired her song Cornelia Street is now on the market to buy for $17,995,000 – or rent at $45,000 per month – around six years after the singer last passed on the keys. 

Taylor Swift rented the home from the former owner, Soho House executive David Aldea, for a few months between 2016-2017 – while her $50 million TriBeCa loft underwent renovations. Though not as expensive as her original property, 23 Cornelia Street classifies as one of the world's best homes in its own right, dating back to 1870. 

Since its humble beginning, built to store horse-drawn carriages, the home has had a million-dollar upgrade – attracting the elite of the music and interiors industry. 

After becoming a part of Taylor Swift's property portfolio, Soho House's David Aldea sold the home to an Italian investor for $11.5 million in 2019 (according to city records) before it served as a showroom for the Italian furniture company Zanotta. Today, however, this four-bedroomed property is ready to serve as a home once again.

Exhibiting beamed ceilings, blond parquet Russian Ipe wood floors, and a marble wood-burning fireplace – it's easy to understand the appeal behind the living room. But even with its architectural features aside, this property has much to offer. 

To the front of the home, we will find a bedroom or home office – offering views across Cornelia Street. The property also has an indoor lap pool and a garage – both of which are rarities for New York City.

Most recently, Taylor's fans have noticed a similarity between the stained-glass window seen in her Grammy award-winning music video, All Too Well: The Short Film, and one in the Lively-Reynolds household. Screened at the Tribeca and Toronto International Film Festivals – and with over 85 million views on YouTube to date – the film has gained Taylor international recognition as a director (yet another skill for her résumé). However, fans might not have known that they were likely, and unsuspectingly, looking around Blake and Ryan Reynolds' family home while they were watching it.

Though Blake and Taylor are yet to confirm the rumor, fans have put forward a convincing argument – stemming from the window seen from the 47th second of the film below. The distinct stained pane features a motif that resembles the one Blake later posted on her Instagram account.

Actress Blake, best known for her roles in Gossip Girl and The Age of Adaline, shared snapshots from her pregnancy – including a photo (the 9th one in the carousel, below) of her and her actor husband Ryan Reynolds. Though this post came several months later, the landing looks identical to the one in the video. 

Located in the rural Pound Ridge neighborhood of New York State, Blake and Ryan's home has an unmistakable country-style aesthetic (both in terms of interiors and the exterior). We already took a moment to admire its gray-painted façade and the back porch that also experiments with darker hues. The inside follows a similar rustic style, exactly like the one in the All Too Well film. 

The film refers to 'An Upstate Escape' – conveniently similar to the location of the couple's property. Even more conveniently, however, Blake and Taylor Swift are known to be good friends (as the 7th photo in the same carousel already indicated).

Taylor Swift fans may also know that Blake and Ryan's daughter, James Reynolds, is the voice at the start of the song Gorgeous (in which she announces the name). And, Taylor references all three of the couple's children: James, Inez, and Betty, in her 2020 album Folklore.

In the footage, Taylor shows viewers around her $25 million home – offering a glimpse at her personality-filled decorating ideas. These include the music room, and her kitchen, where she keeps a VMA (MTV Video Music Award) next to her coffee maker. In her living space, the candle sits on a table next to her rust-hued armchair, where she has added a striped cushion and a cream-colored throw.

Byredo's Tree House may be Taylor Swift's favorite candle, but she also reportedly enjoys Le Labo's Santal 26 – a luxury candle that was spotted in her London home during the first secret-session listening party of her Lover album. 

Attendee Nadianiffi shared a Reddit post that revealed the singer had the candles dotted 'everywhere' around her mansion which is reportedly in Primrose Hill, North London.

The mansion that served as the setting for Taylor Swift’s Blank Space video has just sold for $8.25 million. 

The Long Island estate, named Winfield Hall, was built in 1915 for Frank Winfield Woolworth – the esteemed dive & dime store retailer. The property spans over 16-acres and consists of a 17,000-square-foot carriage house and the main 32,098-square-foot mansion – one of the world’s best homes. 

Situated in Glen Cove on Oyster Bay, this coastal haven sits amid a prestigious coastal postcode that was referred to as the Gold Coast of Nassau County in the roaring 1920s. However, while its natural surroundings are something to behold, its interiors are equally as majestic. It is only right, therefore, that Taylor Swift chose the property for her music video eight years ago. 

Blank Space is a single from Taylor Swift’s fifth studio album 1989 (2014). Her chart-topping songs Shake It Off, and Bad Blood also feature on the same synth-pop-style record. To date, Taylor has sold over 200 million records worldwide and is certified as one of the best-selling musicians of all time.
