Over the last five years, I've seen hundreds – if not thousands – of celebrity kitchens, all of which exhibit a quality that makes them feel unique and personal to their owners. 'It's a particularly good choice to pair with neutrals because, as a color that's so commonly found in nature, it can blend seamlessly into a scheme whilst still providing intrigue.'

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's 'more is more' Christmas tree makes a case for bold and colorful Christmas decor, while Christie Brinkley has filled her branches with playful, retro-inspired lights and ornaments. Though this post isn't from this year, Teigen and Legend's arrangement takes things a step further (and I can't wait to see if they follow suit for 2024).

Rather than compiling the lights, colors, and ornaments together in their tree, they've brought their maximalist focal point to the floor – reminding us that there is more to Christmas tree decoration than the tree itself. We also need to consider the space around the branches because, as they demonstrate, this can be the most impactful area of all. It's changed how I think about my tree decor this year because this space is important – whether you're a maximalist or not.

Dead spaces in our homes are full of untapped potential. These underutilized corners and oddly shaped alcoves present the perfect opportunity to integrate a piece of art and completely transform our interiors. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend demonstrate this concept with a stunning design beneath their stairs.

The couple's Beverly Hills residence is home to the 'Lily Pad Tree' sculpture by Nacho Carbonell. Its position beneath their curved staircase simultaneously highlights the beauty of the stairs' organic shape and brings a natural warmth to an otherwise empty space. As an artist who designs furniture-like sculptures, Carbonell's works are always in conversation with their surroundings. Homes & Gardens interviewed the artist at the opening for his 'Escaping Forward' exhibition at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery to understand how he views this intersection and how it works in Legend and Teigen's home.

For instance, the way the couple has decorated with art makes both the house and the work look more complete. This interaction between interiors and art is part of Carbonell's creation process. He states: 'Everything is in conversation with something else within the context and with the people that live with it. So, an artwork does not exist if it does not interact with you or with the context. That interaction is always on my mind when I'm designing.'

While it's easy to assume the Lily Pad Tree work was made specifically for this dead space based on the perfection of the design, Carbonell doesn't believe that the interior design comes before the work, or vice versa. Instead, they mutually inform one another in a flow of gut feeling. He states: 'The interior design is always kind of a vague idea, but I let the process guide me to the final piece. So l I might start with a very clear idea and I might end up with the opposite. At the beginning of my career, I tried to create lights and I failed for about five years. Every time I tried to create a light, it became a chair.'

Furthermore, Carbonell believes that his sculpture found its perfect home in Teigen and Legend's cozy corner. 'The piece has been created and somehow it found the right context to exist in,' he tells Homes & Gardens. 'The dialogue between the stairs, the open places, the light, everything fits. It's kind of like the perfect marriage. You never know who is the person that you are gonna cross in your life that you're gonna have this special narrative or this special connection with. Pieces and interiors, they happen to be the same as finding your soul mate.' Together, artwork and interior both make one another more beautiful.

When you are choosing art for your home, Carbonell advises following your bliss, and not letting dogmas about design or art coming first get in the way. He states: 'It's never a linear process. It's like when you create and it's like, which comes first a sketch or the final piece? I've had both cases. So it depends. Sometimes you own things that you love so much that you make the context around that piece and sometimes the context is asking you, because you love that context so much, that corner, that window that you look for something that really matches. Again, it's all about the conversation between the object and the place.'

In a video posted to the Cravings Instagram page, we can see the silicone baking trays in action, with five different ways to use them on display. Sure, they can be placed in the oven (up to 450 degrees), but as we can see in the clip, they can also be frozen, reheated in the microwave, stacked in the fridge, and used as serving.

The trays come in different sizes, but all feature the same ridged edges, deep profile, and beige colorway, making them incredibly versatile in both their usage and appearance.

The model and singer enlisted the assistance of H&G favorite Jake Arnold to design a kitchen that we've swooned over many times since its reveal in 2021. We've already taken a moment for its marble slab backsplash and quietly luxurious mixed-metals – however, its banquette seating combines style and functinality in a way that's hard to rival.

'We take kitchens seriously, and functionality is the number one consideration in all of our projects,' comments Jake Arnold. 'Here, we really considered the entertainment factor of the kitchen and how our clients cook, eat, and hang out all in the same place. As Arnold explains, instead of looking into the food preparation area, Teigen's seating faces outwards to her backyard – meaning family members and guests can enjoy feeling as though they're separate from the kitchen despite being in the heart of the action. The space may pre-date 2024, but its still set the precedent for kitchen trends this year. Paul Jenkinson, the founder and managing director of LochAnna Kitchens, explains that the rise in interest is unsurprising when we consider banquette seating's benefits.

The rapid pace of modern living, alongside the fact that separate dining rooms have become far less commonplace, has put an even bigger emphasis on the importance of carving out a space for quality family time. This has led to a rise in the popularity of communal or banquette seating within the kitchen,' he notes.

'The practicality of social seating transforms the kitchen into a space that encourages all members of the household to dine together, fostering a sense of family time, and has the added benefit of creating extra storage space,' Jenkinson adds.

'For example, a kitchen island with banquette seating can maximize functionality with hidden storage, such as lift-up seats or built-in drawers, offering both comfort and a hidden place to store kitchen essentials.'

'The key to ensuring your rattan furniture has real staying power is to consider moving it and placing it in a forgotten nook or different space within your home with complimentary textiles and contrasting colors. For example, if you have a neutral rattan dresser that you are starting to tire of, why not add a gold or black edging to give it a fresh appeal?' Bland says.

'If you bought into the oversized rattan statement chair and it has started to look dated and is unused, it could be taken outdoors in the summer months to create a stunning reading area in a shady spot in your garden or on the patio. Simply drape with throws and place upon a modern outdoor rug.'

As interest in home decor soars, we can't wait to see who else joins the ranks of celebrities killing it in the world of design.

Last year was the era of earthy-hued cabinets and unusually shaped islands, but this 2024, our backsplash is taking center stage.

The aptly-named 'slab backsplash' (involving a single, continuous piece of material to cover the space behind our countertops) is leading the revolution, but in some cases, some of our favorite celebrity kitchens experimented with the aesthetic long before it was a certified trend. Zendaya, Jennifer Aniston, and Chrissy Teigen, we're looking at you.

The latter space, designed by Jake Arnold, is one of the most impressive examples we've seen to date – spanning not only the space above her countertops – but the entirety of her back wall. And, if the scale of this kitchen backsplash isn't impressive enough, its veined marble aesthetic adds further luxury and drama to the space.

Teigen's large, marble piece is a statement twist on the conventional splashback, but we can still incorporate drama in our kitchens without needing to invest in such luxury. Decorating with marble will always be among the most powerful ways to elevate our spaces, but as Devin Shaffer, the lead designer at Decorilla explains, it's possible to follow suit with less expensive materials.

Plus, while changing our backsplash will always be something of an investment, the practicality and style of this feature make it worth the change in the end.

'Slab backsplashes are such a practical way of form and function. Their original job was to protect walls from splashes and steam from cooking but they inevitably became a great way of adding a touch of decor and style to kitchens. I personally love them, I think they are decorative and functional at the same time. So it’s not like you’re buying an extra piece of furniture or decoration. Something else has to be on the wall either way, so might as well make it your own,' Shaffer comments.

While Teigen's space is far from compact, Shaffer explains that this kitchen trend is particularly beneficial to small spaces.

'Clients find it hard to incorporate different materials and mix and match due to the size constraint. That’s when I come in and more often than not, suggest slab backsplashes,' he notes. 'There are different materials, colors, styles, and shapes that you can play with. And that’s the fun thing about them, you can get creative with them and see them as this new touch that will be added to your kitchen.'

However, whatever the size of our kitchen – and whatever material we chose – we can rest easy that this feature is refreshingly low maintence. 'They're just easy and simple to clean. Low-maintenance stuff is what we’re all looking for nowadays. We have busy schedules, a fast-paced life, and there’s nothing better than just investing your time wisely,' Shaffer says.

We don't need to renovate our kitchen to bring Teigen's style into our home. These pieces from her new collection will look good on every countertop.

Chrissy Teigen is known for her honest and raw posts on social media, but this past week, she really stirred the pot when she dropped her Cravings By Chrissy 'Nudes' collection.

Not one to shy away from innuendo, the model, cookbook author, and TV personality launched the latest installment of her popular homeware line via a cryptic, blurred-out image with the text: 'Nudes are coming.'

It turns out that the nudes in question include a range of neutral pots, non-stick frying pans, and other kitchen essentials (whose purposes are multi-faceted).

'We've been working on this for over a year now,' Teigen explained in a video. 'I wanted something that would look beautiful in everybody's kitchen. I wanted everything in this collection to be dual-function. I wanted to clean up all the clutter that might be in your home and is definitely in mine.'

The collection features the Perfect Pan(aka an ultra-lightweight Dutch oven with a multi-purpose strainer/steamer/oil splatter guard inside) alongside the Better Baker Set, which comes with four oven-safe silicone trays and a larger, non-stick baking tray. Lastly, the collection comprises Chrissy's Cut & Serve Board, a double-sided surface that allows for chopping on one side and displaying on the other.

All products come in a versatile beige shade; the pan and baking set feature gold decals, while the board comes in a terrazzo print, 'which totally makes you feel like you're in Italy,' according to Teigen.

Cravings by Chrissy Teigen launched at Target back in 2019, but since then has expanded to her online shop, which features everything from beloved homewares to baking mixes.

'I love, love, love to problem-solve and create things (whether recipes or products) that make life easier, tastier, cozier, and a little more chill,' Teigen states on her website. 'The marble accent wall here is stunning,' sustainably focused interior designer Greg Roth. 'A highly activated, heavily-veined marble like this provides a great contrast to the neutral tones of the space’s main furnishing elements and finishes.'

Furthermore, the experts say the look is especially suited to a neutral living room, like Chrissy Teigen's, where it has several design benefits. Greg says, 'In this room, full of natural textures and materials – and a direct visual connection to the outdoors, via the expansive windows – the marble slab wall does a few important things.'

He continues, 'Not only does the use of marble provide a gorgeous decorative accent, but by adding to the variety of natural materiality in the space, it highlights a reverence for the natural world and the tremendous breadth and beauty of Mother Nature's awe-inspiring resources!'

Furthermore, due to its classic nature, this look is slated to become a popular interior design trend in 2024. While gold is certainly synonymous with 70s opulence, gold is versatile within modern-leaning homes – especially if your goal is refinement.

'Tapestries often help to bring the outside world in, with landscape scenes of dense foliage and earthy colors. We often like to hang tapestries near or opposite windows to create an extension of the outdoor within a room,' the designer adds.

As mentioned, Chrissy's home epitomizes modernity, but that hasn't stopped her from experimenting with this antique quirk. So, while tapestries will always have a rightful place in the most traditional of settings, we shouldn't be afraid to follow Chrissy's lead and experiment in a more contemporary setting. 

'Antique tapestries are full of history and storytelling executed with the highest craftsmanship. Make a statement by juxtaposing a thickly woven tapestry in a light contemporary setting,' Camilla agrees. 'This has an incredible impact and will highlight its charm and beauty.'

'Plus they work with a range of palettes,  from vivid blues to moody grays,' says Lucy Clark, found and creative director of Studio Clark + Co. Amongst all the chatter and buzz about 'quiet luxury' and decorating with beige, there is another subtle yet alluring color that is slowly easing into our color consciousness – ochre.

A highly-pigmented yellow, ochre will add depth to a neutral scheme and drama to a darker one. It is time to invite this earthy amber in, just as celebrity interior designer Jake Arnold has done in John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's Beverly Hills property.

With the rise of Gen Z yellow as a color of choice for statement accessories and oh-so-now soft furnishings, it was only a matter of time before we turned out attention to using a variant of this most vibrant of hues to decorate our homes, alongside popular beige, sand, and taupe colors.

Mood-lifting and warm, ochre brings energy, confidence, and optimism to an otherwise predominantly beige space. ‘To decorate with yellow or ochre, you need to think of it as the “neutral” in the scheme; as a foil to set off other colors, not to overpower everything else,' says Susan Deliss, textile designer and interior decorator. 'Avoid anything that says canary or banana and go for something that sets off the architecture or warms up a cooler space.’

In a conversation with Architectural Digest, Jake Arnold admits that 'his clients spurred him to expand his aesthetic lexicon into somewhat unfamiliar territory.' The use of ochre fulfills their vision, while also playing into Arnold's more familiar design sensibilities.

‘Ochre is a great accent color for those that are less bold – use it as piping, fringing on cushions and through your pictures.' says Emma Deterding, founder, of Kelling Designs. A pop of ochre will always cheer up any scheme.’

There's no denying that lavender is among the most therapeutic of tones, as Chrissy reminds us above – but she's not exclusive in her appreciation for the hue. Trend forecasters Coloro and WGSN famously labeled Digital Lavender as their color of the year for 2023, meaning Chrissy's latest release is right on time – but why is lavender reigning supreme right now? 

According to Coloro and WGSN, lavender, and many shades of purple, represent wellness and digital escapism – emphasizing the importance of 'recuperative rituals' that are a priority for many who want to protect their mental well-being. 

'Digital Lavender will connect to this focus on wellbeing, offering a sense of stability and balance,' they say. 'Research suggests that colors with a shorter wavelength, such as Digital Lavender, evoke calmness and serenity.'

Model and actress Chrissy Teigen gave us a view of her porch deck and we are already itching to redo ours.

The Sports Illustrated personality showed off the outside of her home, featuring perfectly put-together design, giving us lots of deck ideas. She adds ‘clean lines, organic shapes, and natural materials such as teak wood and stone play a significant role in defining this aesthetic.’ As for the colors most commonly associated with this aesthetic, Lauren says ‘neutral color palettes are often used as a canvas, while pops of vibrant hues like mustard yellow or teal may be added as accents.’ This philosophy is strongly embodied in Chrissy’s space, which features bold leafy plants and organic shapes alongside sleek modern lines.

Far from being built for looks alone, experts say that a mid-century modern deck can have several benefits. Lauren Brantley says ‘first and foremost, it creates a timeless and sophisticated outdoor space that appeals to a wide range of tastes. The emphasis on functionality ensures that the porch/deck is not only visually appealing but also practical for various activities, from relaxation to outdoor entertaining.’ Interior designer Nicolas Kaiko adds, stating that midcentury modern exterior design ‘creates a seamless flow between your indoor and outdoor spaces. This can make your home feel larger and more integrated with its surroundings.’ This seamless flow makes the space perfect for the warmer months when the deck becomes an extension of the home interiors. Chrissy and her husband John Legend likely take full advantage of the entertaining possibilities of this space.

Mid=century modern outdoor spaces can also be beneficial for your mental health. Lauren says ‘the use of natural materials and a strong connection with nature fosters a sense of tranquility and well-being, making the space a perfect retreat for homeowners and their guests.’ The feeling of being surrounded by plants creates a relaxing summer feel that Chrissy embodies in her multi-colored bikini and white sarong.

Model and television personality Chrissy Teigen has shared highly anticipated insight into her warm-minimalist California home, where she lives with singer-songwriter husband John Legend and three children. The much-adorned couple enlisted the help of interior designer Jake Arnold, who had previously worked with the couple respectively on various workspace projects, to help realize their vision of creating a family home that doesn’t shy away from showcasing their fun personalities.

Teigen, who is also the founder of Cravings, a recipe website dedicated to her passion for food and cooking, posted an Instagram carousel of photos of the home shot by photographer Yoshihiro Makino, and we’ve been obsessing over them ever since.  

We were immediately wowed by the images; the whole home has been considerately and carefully designed, resulting in a beautiful space that strikes a harmonious balance between being elegant and grown up, yet homely and unique to the family of five. 

Talking to Architectural Digest about the couple’s original ambitions for the home, John Legend explains: ‘We were attracted to this place because of its lightness and airiness. We love how open it feels, and how it’s so connected to the outdoors. We wanted to create something magical, especially for the kids.’

Teigen is renowned for her commitment to warm minimalism, a trend that takes a softer approach to minimalist design, so it’s no surprise that she has carried forth this trend into the new home. 

But there was one element in particular that stood out to us when intently admiring the photos, and that is the integration of one key trend this season: curved interior design.

The first image of the dining room on Teigen’s post introduces us to the curved furniture theme of the home, displaying a statement sculptural travertine dining table and rounded velvet chairs in a deep saffron color.

The theme continues seamlessly across the rest of the rooms shown, from the built-in matching saffron velvet sofa to the warm-toned marble breakfast bar, each piece rejects harsh rectangular shapes and instead presents shapely forms to please the eye. Smaller furnishings in the home commit to the trend too, such as the rounded bathroom mirror and pendant lights in various designs across the rooms. 

Interior export Melissa Read, creative director at Studio Burtwood weighs in on the design of the home: 'Moving away from ultra-modern and clean-lined aesthetics, curved furniture, accessories, and lighting instantly create a soothing ambiance. Curves have always been associated with calm, thanks to their biophilic properties.'

'In Chrissy Teigen's home, bespoke curved pieces are layered with hand-painted wallcoverings, soft textures, and an earthy color palette to create a harmonious space. This theme runs through into the architecture, highlighted by the curved walls.'

While sticking to one trend throughout an entire home can be limiting and result in a lack of interest, the curved furniture in the family home has been carefully styled in such a way that every room has its own unique feel, thanks to the experimentation with color and texture.

The trend stands out as a success by effortlessly tying together every room in the home and ensuring a feeling of familiarity is established, whilst the high-quality craft of the furniture elevates the space. As a modern building that naturally presents lots of rectangular edges, this is an incredibly clever way of offsetting any harsh lines to create an incredibly welcoming space.

We recently toured the vibrant Malibu property (following news that Ken will host a sleepover for two guests this July) – but just when we thought we'd seen all – Chrissy Teigen visited the DreamHouse. 

Following news that Chrissy welcomed her fourth child via surrogate, the model traveled to Malibu with her husband, singer John Legend, and her children, who were free to spend the night on the property. And, while there where she recreated (arguably) the most iconic scene from the movie.

If you've seen the trailer (or better yet, the movie), you will likely remember when the camera shows a close-up of Barbie's feet, walking in high heels, before she effortlessly removes them and stands on her tiptoes. They’re instantly recognizable to anyone who has ever played with the iconic doll. For Chrissy, however, the result (seen below) is slightly more reminiscent of reality. 

Alongside this, Chrissy and John are pictured poolside, posing next to the pink-painted exterior and in the rollerskating studio dressed with neon lights and tinsel. On the fifth slide, the model also showed a glimpse inside Ken's Barbiecore-inspired bedroom – complete with pink-painted walls and carpet dressed with a cow-printed rug. 

'Welcome to my Kendom,' Ken says on the Airbnb listing. 'While Barbie is away, she has handed over the keys [...] and my room could be yours for the night. I've added a few touches to bring some much-needed Kenergy to the newly renovated and iconic Malibu DreamHouse.' Alongside the added cow print, we can see Ken's influence in the backyard (on slide 6), where he has interrupted Barbie's all-pink outdoor furniture with blue-hued pieces.

'Placed perfectly above the beach with panoramic views, this life-size toy pink mansion is a dream come true,' the listing says. And if Chrissy's photos are anything to go by, we'd be sure to agree.

Now, more than ever, we seek comfort in our homes, so it is pleasing to see model and author Chrissy Teigen has not only adopted this timeless and elegant interior design trend into her home.

Chrissy Teigen has always been open to sharing her life with her millions of social followers – and showing off her incredible home in the process but it is her love for warm minimalism that has caught our design eye.

'There’s a definite move towards warm minimalism, with deeper hues and rich, neutral tones – I’m seeing lots of beige, honey, ochre, taupe, and gold used to create cozy, inviting spaces that are still elegant and serene in their simplicity. It’s about building a sense of cohesion, so no piece of furniture or color is over-dominating the space,' says Becca Casey, designer and founder of Becca Interiors.

If you want to recreate the aesthetic at home, then combine colors inspired by the 'golden hour' – the period the color of the sky turns from red to orange. Think luminous sunset shades and earthy terracottas and ochres that are perfect partners and versatile, too, as they can be sophisticated and seductive or fabulously fresh.

'Using a natural palette, like the one above, is all about adding depth and contrast in different layers and textures,' says Jane Landino, creative head of the studio at Taylor Howes. 'To make a warm minimalist color palette feel designed and considered it’s important to mix and match patterns, albeit neutral ones, and occasional accents of color. Just because something is beige doesn’t mean it has to be plain.'

Another great way to decorate with neutrals is to use varying tones from the same color palette to create flow and dynamism. In her home, Chrissy keeps things interesting with subtle hints of gold. A daring color, but one that chimes beautifully with both the warm minimalism and quiet luxury aesthetic. 

Used for small touches or in lavish amounts, gold is a color that blends wonderfully with almost any other, whether in sleek, modernist schemes or those with a distinctly eclectic flavor.

Scouting and sharing the chicest celebrity homes is basically in my job description –and recently, I've noted an increasing number of individuals opt for striking kitchen islands – all of which demand attention – while (most importantly) serving as an entertaining and family dining spot. 

In many ways, using an island as the focal point in a kitchen is nothing new – after all, they are often the most prominent features in the space. However, these celebrities have taken the island one step further by not only making a statement – but creating a functional dining space in the process. 

Despite their differences, all these islands share a shared balance of style and functionality, and I'm taking design notes.

1. Serena Williams' geometric island

It is hard to rival Serena Williams' kitchen island when making a statement with a contemporary flair. The geometric island, designed by the tennis star's sister (who is equally renowned for her sports skills), experiments with contrasting materials –marrying dark wood with sleek white marble – in a distinct rectangular shape. 

Serena's island is arguably the most unconventional of the five featured – but despite its uniqueness, this piece doubles as a dining table, meaning it serves as a place to eat while injecting immediate excitement into the room's design.

2. Chrissy Teigen luxe family dining island

Model Chrissy Teigen enlisted celebrated designer Jake Arnold to decorate her Los Angeles home, so of course, we shouldn't be surprised that it has a place in this round-up. 

Chrissy Teigen's kitchen is beautiful, but we'd say her dining-friendly island is the stand-out feature in this luxe marble space. In the post above, she sits alongside the designer atop the island in question – complete with discreet bar stools that offer a place to eat, drink and socialize. 

It's an almost-unexpected place to enjoy breakfast or host a pared-back dinner party – and is a subtle reminder of a kitchen island's many functions. 

3. Simone Biles' curved kitchen island

Gymnast Simone Biles does not often share images of her home, but when she does, she focuses on the most functional room of all – and her focal point curved island is equally as practical. 

Of course, we'd expect the Olympic medalist to have a designated dining area somewhere in her Texas home – but like Chrissy and Serena – she's also allowing her island to serve this purpose.

Model Chrissy Teigen may be accustomed to a fashionable Los Angeles lifestyle, but that doesn't make her immune to everyday chores – including organizing her fridge. 

'My brain is always in cleaning mode, but organizing is something I'm not good at,' she says. And we can sympathize. Sometimes, tapping into our inner Marie Kondo can be tricky, and organizing a refrigerator is a chore that is easy to put off until it reaches a critical state. However, with the right advice, the process doesn't need to be so tedious. 

Enter professional organizer Krystal Guinn, who visited Chrissy's office to demonstrate her 'four-part refrigerator philosophy' – designed to create a seamless, aesthetic space in (you guessed it) four simple steps.

Organizing a kitchen begins with a fridge that will stay tidier for longer. Here are the steps followed by Chrissy Teigen.

1. Grouping

To start, Chrissy and Krystal empty the fridge completely – ensuring it is easy to refill the space correctly. ‘We’re going to think about grouping. It’s the first and most essential tip,' Krystal says in the footage. 

Grouping is precisely what the term suggests – keeping like items with like items and focusing on themes and patterns. The expert also recommends storing dairy together, placing condiments in their 'own zone', and creating a designated beverage shelf.

2. Compartmentalizing

Compartmentalizing involves utilizing refrigerator accessories to group items, keeping them clean and organized – using things like lazy Susans (such as this one from Amazon) or acrylic bins, such as the one below. 

The expert recommends removing any goods from larger boxes or unnecessary packaging and placing them in containers. 'This tip will help us stay in the system,' she says.

3. Visibility

'[Visibility] is so important because it's what will help us eliminate waste. So, for example, when something is pushed back too far, it gets lost, and then the next thing we know, it's expired, and we can't use it anymore,' Krystal says. 

Clear containers, much like the ones above, are great for visibility (especially when it comes to leftovers. However, to improve our storage further, she recommends placing taller items in the back – and shorter items at the front.

This refrigerator organizing philosophy was designed with practicality in mind – but there is no denying that these tips will lead to a simultaneously good-looking fridge. ‘It’s essentially keeping in mind the flow of your fridge and the aesthetic appeal,' Krystal says. 

To conclude, she recommends stacking beverages by size – and decanting beverages 'for an extra clean aesthetic'.

Few homes have the power to set trends quite like John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's. Together with designer Jake Arnold, the Los Angeles-based power couple curated an enviable sanctuary that is no stranger to our Instagram saved-post list. 

Most recently, we're swooning over their living room floor centerpiece – consisting of wooden vases that contain bundles of dried flowers, ornamental grasses, ferns, and pampas. And sure enough, we predict this 'floor forest', as we're calling it, will reset floral trends in 2023.

Long-term admirers of Chrissy's decor may already know that the model is no stranger to styling dried grass after she debuted a pampas Christmas tree last year. Her new flower arrangements, however, bring this fashionable plant firmly into springtime – while making a textured statement in the process. 

When gathered together, the collection of pampas-filled vases is sizeable – creating a distinction between Chrissy and John's dining and lounging spaces. The textured vases and ornamental glasses also bring interest to an otherwise empty space – creating a talking point with a purpose. 

Inevitably, her 'floor forest' is likely to be replicated in homes far beyond the west coast – and the good news is that it's easier than it looks. 

Beverly Hills-based designer Victoria Holly recommends starting by picking up pampas from Etsy – her favorite place to source ornamental grass. 'There are so many wonderful shops on there that specialize in all types of pampas grass, between different sizes as well as colors,' Victoria says.

Pampas grass may be notorious for dropping hair – so you would be forgiven for entering a 'floor forest' with caution. However, Victoria says that it's easy to maintain pampas and prevent any shredding with a tool that you've probably got in your bathroom cabinet. 

'Given its fluffy nature, pampas grass is prone to shedding. We keep the little fluff at bay the same way we keep loose hair strands in line – hairspray! Just spritz some hairspray on your grasses, and it will help the fibers stay in place.'

To say Chrissy Teigen's entire home is a designer's paradise would be no exaggeration – and a glimpse of her sofa confirms this theory further. 

Curated by H&G favorite designer Jake Arnold, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's Los Angeles home is always on our radar, so a look inside their open-plan living room isn't unexpected. But while this space offers much to be noted – it is the couple's curved bouclé sofa that demands the most attention. 

The piece in question (seen below) taps into two of the biggest sofa trends of the moment due to its shape (curved) and upholstery material (bouclé). It is, therefore, unsurprising that it's approved by top designers, including HGTV host Breegan Jane. 

'I think the kidney bean shape and organic edges are really big, and I’m here for it,' Breegan says in an exclusive interview with H&G. 

'I [am] seeing softer and rounded shapes in our home design, and I really like it. It's less of a harsh edge – and it's nicer to the eye. It also lends itself to more organic shapes we see in nature – there's no hard right corner on the beach or in the mountains; everything is kind of flowing into the next. I see that a lot, all over,' Breegan says. 

This emerging interior design trend is particularly noticeable in sofa design (just like Chrissy's), but Breegan explains that curved tables and side tables will simultaneously dominate decorating ideas in the coming months.  

'It's a nice nod to a stone or a pebble you might pick up on your walk around the block. Nature is one of our biggest teachers, and so I like what that does to your mind subconsciously; it doesn't have so much of a harsh start and an end.'

Chrissy's sofa is in vogue in terms of its shape – but as we hinted – this piece taps into two trends – and the second is its material. 

Deriving from the French word (meaning 'curled' or 'ringed'), bouclé refers to both a yarn made from a series of looped fibers or the fabric that comes from it. In this case, it is the latter. 

Bouclé is the material of the moment, but its distinct texture and ability to add depth and interest (without the fuss of a pattern) mean this fabric is certainly no fad. Instead, David Harris, the design director at Andrew Martin, explains that the bouclé-effect is so strong it's fringing beyond interiors into the fashion industry. 

'People think of bouclé as a heritage fabric for interiors, but it’s becoming even more prevalent in fashion now,' David says. 'There’s lots of different bouclé’s, soft, tactile, crushed – all sorts of bouclé' – so there is lots of variety to find the combination that works best for your space.

This metallic wall makes an unrivaled statement amid their open-plan living space – and it's a design feature that's not for the faint of heart. However, if you're tempted by Chrissy Teigen's paint ideas – you may be happy to know that this hue has approval from those in the design industry – so you can paint with more confidence. 

While gold may seem like a somewhat unconventional color idea – the paint experts at Benjamin Moore suggest that this hue has a firm place amid spring and summer trends this 2023 – and of course, with the model's approval, we're inclined to agree. 

'From soft, pale sunshine to zingy lime-tinted yellow, 'golden tones' is all about bringing the warmth of summer into your home [at all times of the year],' the experts say. They say that the color is particularly beautiful when paired when teamed with white or black – or other golds – for a beautiful luxe aesthetic that will, of course, come with celebrity approval. 

'This look can be anything from anything from quiet and gentle to striking and memorable,' they say. 'The choice is yours.'

Gold knows how to make a statement – so learning how to style this hue (as effortlessly as Chrissy's) can feel complicated. Or at least, it can, without the right advice. Ashley Banbury, the senior color designer for Krylon, recommends pairing the color with rich green tones that bring another sense of the natural world to this sunshine hue. 

'Many of us find great comfort in the natural world,' he says. You should pair these organic hues with colors 'like gold, sandstone, and copper, which give a textural nod to nature' and make your space feel grounded – while completing the golden hues – and golden hue to make the statement it deserves.
