However, in high-use areas such as countertops or sinks, sealed finishes are a better choice, preventing unwanted discolouration and ensuring long-term durability,' Charlie advises.

'Vertical style is now infiltrating the door itself, with highly structured door fronts that are designed with deep vertical grooves placing new emphasis on the furniture itself while, at the same time, helping modern kitchen interiors to move away from the standard slab door and accentuate full height cabinets,' he comments.

Molly Chandler, a designer at Willis & Stone, agrees. As Longoria demonstrates, she recommends choosing vertical storage in the form of tall cabinets or shelves that reach right up to the ceiling – making use of room that we never realized we had before. Further to this, she suggests maximizing storage further with clever racks or hooks [such as these from Amazon] behind our kitchen cabinet doors.

'You may also want to consider pull-out pantry shelves or racks between cabinets or next to appliances to maximize storage for spices and other pantry items,' she adds.

Making the most of our kitchen storage begins with the cabinets, but it's not possible without the right accessories. As Chandler explains, wall hooks are a versatile choice, but we also love these essentials, available below.

'In smaller kitchens, it's advisable to design tall or wall cabinetry to reach maximum height, as this not only optimizes vertical storage space but also creates the illusion of taller ceilings, contributing to a greater sense of spaciousness,' Chandler adds. This trend can benefit every kitchen, and if it's good enough for Longoria, it's good enough for us.

Hybrid styles like the organic luxe look have grown increasingly popular since the beginning of 2024. Looks that combine two or more interior design themes are appealing because they defy the accelerated trend cycle necessitating every look fit into a niche; these looks allow design just to be. While some house-hunters will love them, others might be put off by the time and expense of repainting; this might result in lower (or even no) offers,' she says. 'Lighter colors are much more straightforward to paint over.'

'It's important not to go too neutral and minimal though: the aim of home staging is to make a property appeal to a wider range of buyers – so it needs to be eye-catching,' Lee adds.

'On average, it only takes a few minutes – sometimes seconds – for people to decide whether a property is the one. That's why it's crucial to make a great impression in the hallway, the first room they usually see.'

Natural wood furniture, like Eva's table and chairs, enhances the peaceful ambiance within a home. It's worth noting, though, that any natural materials will have a similar impact, so the choice is limitless. 

'Wood, bamboo, and natural stone are ideal and sustainable choices for incorporating solid, rustic, and smooth surfaces into each room,' Catharina says. 'Add softer textures using plant fibers and natural fabrics amongst other eco-friendly materials. Think velvety cashmere blankets, light cotton lampshades, fluffy wool rugs, woven jute baskets, seagrass placemats, reed baskets, and cork pinboards.'

When we incorporate sustainable styles into our homes, we can also do so knowing that we are doing something beneficial for the planet.

'Wood is also one of the most sustainable materials. Living trees absorb carbon dioxide and are also able to be replanted again and again,' Catharina explains. 'More specifically, hardwood tree varieties – such as ash, chestnut, or oak – produce high-density and, consequently, extremely durable wood, an ideal material to use for larger surfaces and objects, such as flooring, wardrobes, and shelves. The long lifespan and low maintenance nature of hardwood make it well-worth the investment.'

In this outdoor environment, the pool is not meant to be the main visual feature. In its narrowness, it's more of a beautiful accessory that enhances the overall feel of the space.'

Brad says: 'From a design perspective, having any elongated feature in a space can manipulate your sense of size and proportion. Based on the shadows being cast, it's fair to say that the home is probably parallel to the pool. If I had to guess, I would say that this lap-swimming pool is probably between 50 - 60 feet long.

He continues, 'What this means is, when you look or step outside, you're going to feel as though the space is very wide. Even though the central stucco feature wall is probably at least 72" x 144" in size, the giant privacy hedges dwarf all of it. This all provides the viewer with a strong sense of grandeur, which is extremely appropriate for someone as accomplished as Ms. Longoria.'
