I’ve loved Stanley Tucci ever since he starred in Julie & Julia. His effortless style and passion for good food have made him one of my favorite on-screen personalities (is anyone else watching the new Stanley Tucci cooking show on National Geographic right now?)

That said, as a cookware editor and reviewer, I always approach celebrity kitchenware with a healthy dose of skepticism. When assessing the best non-toxic cookware (which is one of the latest trends for celebs to jump on), I’ve seen many launches that prioritize design over performance. But I’ll admit – Gordon Ramsay’s HexClad pans and the Brooklyn Beckham-endorsed air fryer have recently surprised me with five-star performances. So, I set my judgment aside and gave Stanley Tucci's cookware a go.

To find out if the range is worth its salt, I put two of the collection’s star pieces – The Stanley Pan and the Dutch Oven – to the test with a few classic Italian recipes. Here's how they stacked up.

Materials & design

As soon as Stanley Tucci's cookware arrived in my kitchen, the pans looked every bit as chic and polished as Tucci himself. I'd proudly display them on my stovetop.

The Stanley Pan is crafted with at least 70% recycled aluminum – true to GreenPan's sustainability credentials. The lining is ceramic non-stick and infused with diamond particles (yes, diamond), which, apparently, help with heat conductivity and scratch resistance. GreenPan's nonstick is free of PFAS, PFOA, lead and cadmium, so will not release fumes or blister if overheated.

I tested the stainless steel piece, which has a sleek, modern look (and is currently on clearance at Williams Sonoma, with $120 off). But, the newer colorways like Amalfi Sunset and Tuscan Olive are much more covetable. They really capture the sun-drenched Italian palette, bringing that Mediterranean character to your kitchen.

Stanley Tucci's Dutch Oven, which I tried in Venetian Teal, shares the same materials as the Stanley Pan. This pot is also PFAS-free with a diamond-infused ceramic non-stick coating. Both pans come with a stainless-steel induction base, which sits flush on my induction hob – and will also be compatible if you have a gas hob.

The Dutch oven features gold-tone handles, which I think are supposed to feel polished and premium, but in reality, they feel a little cheap. When I picked up the oven, it wasn't too heavy at all, but the flat handles weren't very ergonomic, and I didn't feel confident with the grip. I usually cook with the best Dutch oven on the market, the Le Creuset, so I do have high standards; I'll talk more comparison further down the page.

Cooking performance

1. The Stanley Pan

The Stanley Pan is the star of Stanley Tucci's cookware collection. It is wide and spacious, with rounded edges, making it well-suited to tossing pasta and reducing sauces. I decided to try it with a creamy asparagus and lemon pasta.

I started by frying delicate, fresh asparagus to test heat responsiveness and the non-stick surface with minimal oil. The pan heated very quickly and the spears easily slid across the pan for even browning. The weight of the Stanley Pan was light and easy to toss, and there was plenty of space for the stems to turn golden quickly.

Then, I added chopped garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, cream, parmesan, and cooked spaghetti. The sauce reduced quickly, turning the pasta glossy and delicious. Success.

Next, I cleaned the Stanley Pan and returned it to the heat for my second test: garlicky breadcrumb chicken. I added a very thin layer of oil to the pan, before adding in my chicken fillets. They sizzled very gently, and I panicked that the heat wasn't high enough, but stuck to my guns, and after 3-4 minutes on each side, the crumbs turned golden. In fact, a few crumbs caught too much heat and became overly brown.

The chicken was juicy and tender inside, and the exterior was crispy. I was also able to pool oil in the rounded sides of the Stanley pan and baste the chicken as it cooked, which definitely helped create that crispy texture. I served the pasta and chicken together with a green salad, which went down really well with my family.

2. The Dutch Oven

To test the Dutch oven, I started with a one-pot pasta dish (actually, a Martha Stewart classic that I've been making for years). I wanted to suss out the Dutch oven's ability to create good, crispy browning on meat, then assess its ability to retain heat efficiently for a slow-simmered dish.

I started by searing pancetta without any oil. Where a poorly designed pan might cause sticking, uneven browning, or burnt spots, the Stanley Tucci cookware's ceramic surface allowed the pancetta to brown and release easily. I then added chopped garlic and walnuts, which toasted nicely.

After this, there was a nice bit of fond on the bottom of the pan, which I deglazed with white wine, before adding sliced red onions. These simmered down well, becoming caramelized and soft without burning or sticking.

Finally, I added the volume with handfuls of curly kale and cooked mafalda pasta. The pan allowed plenty of room to combine the ingredients.

I wanted to serve straight to the table, since Stanley Tucci's Dutch Oven was so pretty and presentable, but unfortunately, the handles were incredibly hot to touch. I struggled to get the pan off the induction stove, even when wearing oven mitts, as I found the handles tricky to hold and grip.

Cleaning & maintenance

The ceramic non-stick on Stanley Tucci's cookware is a dream to clean; you just need a soft sponge and warm, soapy water. Even after I cooked the breaded chicken and pancetta, there was very little food residue stuck to the pan, and it rinsed away easily. Great news for me, as I'm usually pretty tired after cooking and ready to relax.

However, you do need to be careful with the types of cleaning tools (and cooking tools, for that matter) that you use on ceramic coatings. Abrasive wire sponges and metal spoons will scratch the surface and can destroy the non-stick effect. You also need to be a bit careful about stacking your pans on top of each other – my pan came with a pan protector for storage that reduces scratching and damage to the lining.

I found that the glass lids and steel exterior on my Stanley Pan ended up a bit cloudy with some water spots, so I followed some Homes & Gardens cleaning tips and ended up soaking them in vinegar and polishing them quite a bit to keep the set looking smart. I think the matte, colourful options might have been a better choice for lower maintenance.

How does Stanley Tucci's cookware compare to other brands?

I've tested many of the best non-stick cookware brands, including HexClad, Made In, Our Place, Hestan and more. Stanley Tucci's cookware collab with GreenPan is up there with my favorites for its attractive design and thoughtful non-toxic materials.

I was a big fan of the Stanley Pan; it is versatile and practical, allowing you to cook a variety of recipes, from tossed pasta dishes to fried meats and slow-cooked curries. I think it is a practical design for everyday home cooks, and it saves you from having to buy lots of different pieces. The non-stick is effective and easy to cook on, and it hasn't shown any sign of degradation after 3 months of use on my weekly pasta dishes.

However, I'm not totally sold on the Stanley Tucci Dutch Oven; I much prefer cooking with my Signature Le Creuset Dutch oven. Although Le Creuset isn't 100% non-stick, you really can't beat the sear and heat retention you get with cast iron. I also think it is much more solid and long-lasting. I found the Tucci Dutch oven to be a little cheap in places, and the handles aren't practically designed. I've also noticed some chipping around the ages of the lid after some time of use.

A Le Creuset oven of similar capacity works out at around $100 more, and as a cook, I'd spend that extra money for a durable piece every time.

Should you buy Stanley Tucci's cookware?

If you’re a fan of Stanley Tucci’s cooking show, there’s a lot to love here. The Stanley Tucci x GreenPan line blends style, sustainability, versatility, and performance in a way that feels genuinely thoughtful.

He won't be replacing my heritage cast iron Dutch oven (sorry, Stanley), but the spacious, well-designed frying pan has become my go-to for pasta dishes and sauces. I just wish I had it in one of the chic, retro colorways inspired by Italian sports cars – then it would never leave my stovetop.

How I test frying pans

The best cookware has to check all the boxes: versatility, manageable weight, brilliant cooking performance and ease of cleaning. At Homes & Gardens, we also look for the best non-toxic cookware, too.

I use each pan for a month to see how it fares over time. I've owned many pots and pans that have been great out of the box, but after prolonged use, they start to stick and destroy my ingredients. There's nothing worse than this, especially when you've forked out your hard-earned cash and need to buy a replacement.

When I'm testing, I'm looking for a pan that can handle everything: from frying an egg to searing a steak with a perfect crust. It should feel balanced in your hand – not so heavy it’s hard to lift, but substantial enough to retain heat evenly for consistent cooking.

I like to test notoriously sticky or delicate recipes, including tofu and sticky cheese like halloumi or paneer. I assess how these work in the pan and the mess they leave afterwards, because no one wants to scrub endlessly after dinner.

Also, I should mention: I trained at a professional cookery school. I'm now a food writer, product tester, and recipe editor, and I've worked with some of the world's leading recipe companies, from Mindful Chef to Deliciously Ella. So, I do have exacting standards when it comes to cookware.

Patio season welcomes a chance to invest in an outdoor living space, and as such, some stunning furnishings that will stand the test of time.

I've been thinking about outdoor furniture in terms of color first, and I think I've landed on my top pick for this year (and beyond) with a little help from Stanley Tucci: gray.

'Gray isn’t a one-note color,' Nina explains. 'From pale dove gray to dark charcoal, mixing various shades can add depth to your outdoor space. Consider lighter gray cushions on darker gray furniture frames, or vice versa, to create a visually engaging monochromatic look.'

Gray is not only versatile, but it also gives an outdoor space a calm yet elevated feel. If you're looking for a new color scheme to incorporate into your backyard, I'd bet my money on this shade to make waves this year.

By now you will already have your Christmas tree up, and if so, it will be beautifully decorated in the latest festive trend (velvet ribbons tied into dainty bows), or the most exquisite color scheme (beautiful burgundy or gold-flecked taupe). But if you don't care much about casual Christmas decor trends, you might have opted for something less picture-perfect.

The actor-turned-chef has become somewhat of an internet sensation for his quick cooking tips and tricks. This time, it was a recent video showcasing how Tucci cleans his chopping block with a knife that caught our eye, and I couldn't wait to put it to the test.

Taking cleaning tips from Tucci to restore my cutting board to near new, I grabbed my old chopping board, knife, and a bottle of olive oil and got to work – and the results seriously surprised me.

I tried Stanley Tucci's unusual method for cleaning a chopping board

I use wooden chopping boards daily in the kitchen, washing them thoroughly after use, but I'm still often left wondering just how clean they really are. Enter: Stanley Tucci's Monday morning ritual.

Posted alongside the caption of 'What else would I be doing on a Monday morning?' Tucci explains, 'I'm scraping down the chopping block, because it gets kind of gross, so I do that and then oil it.' As bizarre as it might appear, this method works by smoothing the board, and removing any bacteria from the top layer of wood, leaving it clean and sanitary. As I've been looking for ways to care for my wooden cutting board, I decided to give his simple, two-step process a go.

You will need:

• A wooden chopping board/ block
• An old knife: I used one that was already blunt, but you can always re-sharpen knives using a sharpener, such as the 4-in-1 Knife Sharpener available at Amazon.
• A bottle of affordable olive oil: such as the Great Value Classic Olive Oil available at Walmart.
• Kitchen roll: such as the Scott Choose-a-Sheet Paper Towels available at Walmart.

Step 1. Scrape

I began by washing my cutting board and leaving it to dry, using dish soap and warm water. I recommend the Fairy Original Liquid available at Amazon, before wiping down with a cotton tea towel, such as the top-rated Coyuchi Organic Waffle Kitchen Towel available at Anthropologie, before leaving to completely dry on a rack.

Then, armed with my knife, I began scraping away at the top layer of my chopping board and was surprised at how easily the wood peeled away thinly.

Granted, the board I was cleaning was a lot smaller than Tucci's, but it worked in just the same way. I continued scraping until the board was an even color, before tipping the shavings into the trash.

Step 2. Oil

Next, it was time to oil my board, which is important when cleaning and caring for cutting boards as it prevents the wood from drying out and becoming porous to bacteria. So, forgetting to do so is a mistake to avoid when cleaning kitchenware.

I used a paper towel to do this, and simply poured the oil on, before spreading it in an even layer. This made the board look shiny and restored, and I was instantly impressed with the results. I then left it to dry overnight, and it was ready for use in the morning.

My verdict?

Stanley Tucci's method does really work, but it is time-consuming. I think I will incorporate it into my weekly achievable cleaning routine, to have my boards looking good as new, but I will stick to regular washing for daily use.

As Tucci says, 'I'm going to take a picture of it later and post it,' about his board, I'm not sure mine was quite Instagram-worthy, but it's clean, and most importantly hygienic.

Can you put wooden chopping boards in the dishwasher?

As tempting as it might be, wooden chopping boards cannot be put in a dishwasher. This will cause them to crack, warp, and eventually break, and these cracks become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria, particularly when using them to slice raw meat.

To avoid any dishwasher mistakes, always hand wash wooden boards, spoons, and serveware.

How do you disinfect a chopping board naturally?

Tucci's method is natural, but if your board requires more sanitization, you can use a spray bottle filled with white vinegar to clean it. This will neutralize odors and naturally disinfect it, and you can also rub it with half a lemon to further clean it.

Yet again, Stanley Tucci nails it. His home bar is the 'bar' all must rise to meet as the trend becomes more popular.

Stanley Tucci may be best known for his roles in film and TV, but most recently, he's established himself as a force in the culinary world. Naturally, this means we're going to take note of his appliances, starting with his air fryer.  

Of course, Stanley has one of the best air fryers on the market, the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer, but he's not the only figure to put its ability to the test. Alex, H&G's appliance reviewer, rated four and a half stars after a stint in the test kitchen – but what is it a safe investment?

As Stanley demonstrates, the appliance makes an excellent creamy pasta bake, but it's not the only Italian dish that will impress. 'I really liked the pizza function. It made a genuine difference when heating up a store-bought pizza, and tasted far better than if I'd just heated it up in an oven,' Alex comments.

'The air fryer function is great, if not the best we've ever tested, and made good bacon and roasted vegetables. It also did a pretty good job toasting six slices of bread from frozen.'

If there's a time to invest, it's right now. Stanley's air fryer is discounted for a short time, so we wouldn't recommend waiting to look before investing. 

So why didn't this appliance get all five stars? 'My big criticism of it is the magnetic door. It’s meant to help you pull the rack out of the oven, but I found that if you used the nonstick pizza dish, it was easy for it to stick to the door when you pulled it out thanks to the strong magnets,' Alex says.

'In terms of speed, it’s almost too good. Like most air fryers, it’s very fast to cook food, so there’s a bit of a learning curve to figuring out when your food will be ready.'

If it's good enough for Stanley (and, of course, Alex), we're willing to give this smart cooker a try. We can only hope our bake looks as delectable as the one from Stanley's now Instagram-famous London kitchen.

While not all of us are lucky enough to be invited to Stanley Tucci's house for a weekend feast, Robert Downy Jr. is – and he gave us a fascinating glimpse into the inner workings of the actor-turned-chef's kitchen. More specifically, his second kitchen. 

Although we have been impressed by the sheer scale of Stanley Tucci's modern kitchen before, Oppenheimer actor RDJ offered another glimpse into a previously unseen area of the space. What we thought to be a pantry actually seems to be a utility kitchen, something that is definitely needed when hosting 12-star-studded dinner guests. 

These back kitchen additions are not exclusive to celebrity hosts, however, and designers have seen a sudden and drastic increase in interest in these utilitarian work spaces – and for good reason. 

Giving an in-depth overview of the actor's kitchen, from his extensive Le Creuset pan collection to overflowing yet organized cookbooks, to bright kitchen decor, Robert Downey Jr. seemed to hide in the Tucci's side kitchen, giving us our first glimpse into the madness behind the method, so to speak. 

Deceptively hidden away using the same paint color as Tucci's kitchen cabinets, the side kitchen is more than just your regular pantry, offering additional cooking and prep space to allow any chef to be a little messier away from the eyes of important guests, points out Mike Serafino, owner and designer at Heartwood Kitchens. 

'One of its uses is often for appliances, from small ones like stand mixers, microwaves, and toasters as we see in Stanley Tucci's space, to full-sized wall ovens and secondary refrigeration (beverage fridges and drawers),' Mike explains.

'Utility kitchens are great for overflow storage and to take “pressure” off the main kitchen. We’re in a minimalist phase in some ways – with people looking for things to get rid of for a minimalist kitchen and wanting open, clean, uncluttered counters. Side kitchens as an alternative to traditional utility rooms are a great way to achieve this.'

A small kitchen off to the side can also be helpful if you have help with preparing for a party, adds Madison Popper, interior designer and founder of Chill Casa. 'As an additional cooking space, if you’re having help during a party, everything can be prepped in the utility kitchen without distracting the guests.'

Such modern utility room ideas can be executed in two ways, Madison says. 

'The two designs I have seen with a utility kitchen are either an open room connected to the kitchen with an archway or the new creative way is to hide it behind a false cabinet door in your kitchen as Tucci has in his. It’s like a secret room you have to find. The kitchen is always the most used room in the house so just like the more the merrier, the bigger amount of kitchen space, the better.'

When planning a utility kitchen, it is also important to ask how it relates to the main kitchen from a location and storage standpoint to make it truly functional, reminds Mike Serafino, kitchen designer. The room needs to flow easily from the main cook space so it is not difficult to get to and offer additional kitchen storage to make the extensive addition worth the effort.

'We often take bigger risks in these spaces to add decorative pops like powerful tile and/or wallpaper, cool doors like antiques, and pocket French ones,' Mike adds. 'The utility matters first, but it’s easy to make a real statement with a side kitchen.'

Tucci seems to have played his utility kitchen relatively safe, carrying the kitchen paint color through and focussing on expansive storage, but there is some interesting framed art above the door for a pop of personality.

Although becoming more popular in kitchen remodels nowadays, Mike Serafino, kitchen designer, warns that they may not be for everyone: 

'This kind of addition is best for multi-cook families, especially if baking is a larger part of their cooking plans and families with kids that are starting to prepare their own meals, warming leftovers, making breakfasts like toast and cereal.

'They may also appeal to anyone that entertains many times a year with lots of guests. A second sink and dishwasher have a huge impact on the efficiency of throwing a great party! These spaces can hide the mess from the main kitchen and control flow through and around the main kitchen.'

If we're to take Italian cooking cues from anyone, it's Stanley Tucci. Despite being best associated with the silver screen, the actor has established himself as quite the force in the culinary world – much to the delight of his followers, who enjoy frequent glimpses inside his London kitchen. 

We'd be lying if we said we hadn't already penned a love letter to Stanley's backdrop – from the color on this cabinets (it's Farrow & Balls' Down Pipe, FYI) to his open-shelving that houses a collection of Le Creuset's Dutch Ovens. It seems, however, that this iconic cookware is not the only French-designed piece taking up space in his kitchen.

Think of Stanley Tucci, and thoughts of his kitchen are sure to follow. The actor turned his gray-blue kitchen into something of a social-media staple – often seen in his backdrop as he shares recipes with the world. However, with summer upon us, it was only a matter of time before Stanley went al-fresco – and that day finally arrived. 

The Academy Award nominee (known for The Devil Wears Prada and CNN's The Searching For Italy) shared footage from his urban backyard – where style and practicality work harmoniously. 

Notable features include the lush privacy planting that effectively screens the yard and a wooden dining table with ample room for entertaining. However, if we were to pick a focal point, it would be Stanely's outdoor kitchen – a practical (but beautiful space) fronting garden trends this 2023. 

So, Stanley Tucci has an outdoor kitchen, and we inevitably want one too – but as Mor Krisher, head of design at Caesarstone, explains, we are not alone in our craving for this feature. 'The outdoor kitchen market is growing rapidly, and we have seen an increasing desire for year-round garden entertaining,' he says. 

The kitchen is visible (in its entirety) in the backdrop below – complete with light gray stone countertops and a wooden backsplash that complement the yard's wooden fencing. 

Naturally, Stanley's chosen materials have their aesthetic appeal, but as Mor explains, they were chosen with practicality and durability in mind – and we should do the same. 

'Don't make the mistake of choosing the wrong material. Natural stone, such as marble, is highly susceptible to staining, especially in a high-traffic, exposed area such as your outdoor kitchen,' he comments. 'Plus, to avoid substantial staining further, you would have to seal your natural stone surfaces at least annually.'

Cosentino's architectural and design expert, Andres Alonso, mirrors the importance of choosing a material that will endure the elements over time. 

'When designing an outdoor kitchen, the use of durable materials that will not be damaged by the elements is imperative,' he adds. 'Surfaces that last whilst maintaining their integrity and beauty is essential.' He recommends ensuring your stone has a high resistance to sudden temperature changes and high UV protection – especially if residing in sunnier climates.

Stanley Tucci knows precisely how to shape both our culinary habits and design choices in the kitchen – but now the Academy Award nominee has shown off his living room in an Instagram post. And it's as timelessly stylish as Stanley himself.

The actor, known for The Devil Wears Prada and, most recently, Searching for Italy, shared a long-awaited look inside the living space while unboxing Tropea onions (very on brand, for Stanley, of course). The backdrop confirms exactly what we thought we knew about the actor: it is chic, slightly playful, and timeless. And it makes a case for decorating with gray – with a contemporary twist. 

The space exhibits a distinct monochromatic color palette – from the dark gray sofa to the striped wallpaper in a similar hue. The actor has interrupted the primarily gray scheme with pockets of cream and white – most notably seen through his statement light, table, throw, and pillow.

The seemingly eternal power of white and gray has recently fallen under scrutiny from some experts, who say that the latter, in particular, is falling out of favor. However, Stanley Tucci's living room is a reminder that, when used correctly, these hues have a permanent place in the list of this year's color trends – and designers agree.

'Gray and white will always be in fashion. It is all how you present the gray and white that matters. I have clients that love the neutral feeling of a gray and/or white palette – and when done well it can look amazing,'  says California-based designer, Jen Dallas.

With that said, however, Jen warns that some gray-and-white spaces can look cold without incorporating warmer textures and more colorful accessories. In Stanley's case, this is through his soft furnishings (such as the throw) and his vast collection of books dotted around the room. We've picked out our favorite finds, below.

'You just have to pay attention to the other parts and pieces placed in the room using these colors – so the space won't feel too cold,' Jen says. 

'When I design with all white or gray, I pay special attention to textures, Whether it be a leather sofa the wood coffee table, or the texture of a linen drapery. These additions help give the neutral room character without taking away from the monochromatic feel.'

If anybody can keep white and gray alive, it's Stanley Tucci, and we confess, he's making a very convincing case.

As an already iconic shade – it is hard to categorize a hue such as Down Pipe as one that sits among 'color trends'. However, the way in which Stanley uses this shade is on trend, according to those in the know. 

Kitchen designer Tom Howley notes that gray shades continue to remain popular, following a notably sharp rise in recent years. 

‘Once upon a time, most kitchens were either painted white or were finished in natural wood. Now, kitchens are integral to the interior design of our homes, often influencing the style story in the rest of the property,' Tom says.

'Kitchens are evolving as large, multifunctional spaces where the whole family gathers to eat, socialize and relax. Our design tastes influence the whole space, and as we are becoming bolder with our choices, dark kitchen designs are now taking center stage.’  

Experimenting with this kitchen trend doesn't mean we need to overpower our space with deep tones. Instead, we can follow Stanley's lead and play with dark gray-blue pockets on our cabinetry while keeping the rest of our room neutral.

It seems Stanley's kitchen is a trove of Farrow & Ball and Le Creuset favorites, and honestly, we expected nothing less.

In the footage, he is seen mixing leeks, shallots, garlic, olive oil, and a little bit of butter and salt. He combines mussels in the Oyster-colored Dutch oven with white wine before steaming with the lid on. He then chives and parsley – and more olive oil – for extra seasoning. 

While the Oyster Dutch oven is the star of the footage, titled 'Saturday night dinner' eagle-eyed viewers will spot two more Cerise Le Creuset Dutch ovens on the open shelving behind the actor. Plus, in the footage below, Stanley showcases a large selection of Le Creuset merchandise, including seven dishes in various sizes and colors.

His efforts did not go unnoticed by the French cookware brand, which shared that his food 'looks incredible' before thanking The Devil Wears Prada star for cooking with them.
