Integrating houseplants into your interiors is the simplest and most affordable way to add a sense of liveliness to your interiors.

Suki Waterhouse shared her love for indoor bonsai trees with the Perfectly Imperfect Newsletter. In September 2024, she told the team: 'When I was preggers in the last month and didn’t really feel like seeing anyone, I got obsessed with getting a bonsai tree. I found a number on Google and pulled up to a house in East Hollywood and a lady had a bunch of them locked up in her back garden. Felt super cool and mysterious. Some of them she’d had for 30 years. Fell in love with this guy and have become obsessed with pruning.' We couldn't agree more.

Tenielle Jordison, Homes & Gardens' in-house houseplant expert and News Writer, explains: 'Bonsai trees have long been loved as a houseplant, and for a good reason – these miniature trees make a charming addition to indoor plant displays and are guaranteed to be a conversation-starter among your visitors.

<p class='vanilla-image-block' data-bordeaux-image-check style='padding-top:100.00%';>Blue Pot Included

Bonsai Tree

This little bonsai tree has such a beautiful shape, similar to Suki Waterhouse's, and it is potted in a blue planter for a polished look. 'I would recommend Bonsai tree care is very particular, however,' suggests Jordison. She continues, 'You have to make sure it’s living somewhere with plenty of natural light and maintain consistent moisture levels, only watering when the top layer of soil appears paler and feels dry.'

Pruning is also paramount in this kind of plant care. Jordison recommends: 'As for shaping your bonsai tree, there’s no denying this is the most mindful part of caring for them. You can use essential pruning tools or even just sharp scissors to remove any dead branches and keep it looking neat through its growing season.'

As for integrating your bonsai with your interiors, I love the way these plants look on a console table in an entryway, or as part of your coffee table styling. It would look beautifully varied on top of a stack of books. The key to decorating with plants is balance.

If you are hoping to spruce up for home for the coming months, there's nothing better than a tiny tree. Suki Waterhouse said it first.

All eyes are on Suki Waterhouse since she's been added to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour roster as an opening act for a London show. We like to keep an eye on the singer beyond the stage, as her interiors have proven to be incredibly trend-forward and inspiring.

We recently spoke to Waterhouse's interior designer, Izzy Hamilton-Fairley of IHF Interiors, who is responsible for decorating her eclectic London flat. One of the key pieces that stood out when we chatted with her was an impossible-to-miss, cow print armchair in her living room.

'We'd find a pair of armchairs, for example, that Suki would love, the cow print ones,' Hamilton-Fairley tells us. 'Then we would put that into the scheming and we'd say, 'Ok now what do we need? What colors should we bring in?'

Although the flat was completed a couple years ago, the chairs are proof that animal print prevails. Using Hamilton-Fairley's tactic of building around a bold, statement piece ensures that it toes the line between trendy and timeless.

The look is emerging as a huge interior design trend for 2025. 'Animal print has staged a major comeback in recent years, gracing fashion runways and interior design magazines alike,' says designer Nina Lichtenstein. 'This resurgence is a testament to its enduring charm and versatility. Designers are increasingly incorporating animal print into their collections, presenting fresh interpretations that blend seamlessly with modern decor.'

A current trend that animal print taps into is the urban jungle style, which, as its name suggests, favors colors, patterns, and textures reminiscent of a leafy oasis.

'Think reds, pinks, yellows, and greens to inject fun into any space,' says Johanna Constantinou, trends expert at Tapi. 'Homes are becoming greener, and the premise of this trend is to be loud and daring. However, if you prefer a minimalist approach, you can go for alternatives such as animal wall prints.'

As far as tips for styling around animal print accessories go, experts suggest allowing the statement piece to be exactly that, and avoid clashing patterns too much.

'An animal print sofa is a bold statement piece that can anchor your living room,' Lichtenstein says. 'To style around it effectively, keep the rest of the decor relatively subdued. Opt for solid-colored rugs, curtains, and wall paint to create a harmonious backdrop that doesn't compete with the sofa.'

We can see that Waterhouse (with the help of Hamilton-Fairley) has opted for this approach by coordinating the chair's wooden arms to an wooden, open-plan bookshelf, which features small pops of color within it.

Shop the Suki Waterhouse Edit

Want to recreate the look?
Multi-hyphenate Suki Waterhouse is known for her wide-ranging artistic interests, from her start in fashion design to her work as an actor in Daisy Jones & the Six, in which she showed off her musical chops. It makes sense, then, that her home reflects her creative life and unique style. In fact, we spoke to the designer behind the eclectic Notting Hill apartment to find out how it all came together.

'She wanted someone to just come in and decorate it and add some character, add to the comfort levels,' says Izzy Hamilton-Fairley, London-based designer and owner of IHF Interiors. 'Suki was so fun to work for because she has amazing style anyway. I don't think she really knew what she wanted or what she was expecting, but she was great because she's so open to adding color and texture.'

Though the apartment was designed during the pandemic, the space feels as fresh and exciting today as it did upon completion. With a mix of vintage and modern furnishings, colorful accents, and plenty of patterns, the home evokes a sophisticated version of dopamine decor before it was even known as such.

Hamilton-Fairley explains that when she took on the job, the apartment was 'livable but not decorated.' She says that to kick off the design process, they looked to the ground for inspiration.

'The main living area, which is open plan living-dining-kitchen, she had this rug that I absolutely love. It's a delightful blend of unexpected hues and textures around every corner.

'I absolutely love that look when people walk into a room and they think none of this should work together, but it all does,' Hamilton-Fairley explains. 'It's bold prints and different scales and different portions and different colors, but actually, when it all goes together, it just works.'

She also built around found items, for example, some cow-print armchairs that Waterhouse discovered.

Hamilton-Fairley says that both her and Waterhouse delighted in the hunt for vintage and antique pieces, with a mix of online and in-person shopping.

'We did a lot [of sourcing] from Vinterior and 1stDibs,' she says. 'I think you have to know roughly the type of thing you want, and then you can search for it because otherwise it's literally a bottomless pit.' We're taking these tips to our favorite antique emporium and shopping the Waterhouse way.

When we think of a relaxing retreat, we typically imagine a trip to a luxury spa, with all the amenities in place for a self-care weekend. However, we believe that a spa-like atmosphere can be curated within our own homes; in fact, there's even a name for the growing trend.

'Spathrooms' have taken over the world of interiors, with many choosing to replicate the blissful sensation of being at a spa in their homes with some strategic design. While stocking a favorite face mask or body lotion is a great starting point, there are some accessible spa bathroom ideas that can transform a space.

Take Suki Waterhouse's bathroom. The singer and actor's London flat features gold fixtures and a wood-rimmed, white tub (crucially) surrounded by plants, combining a luxe sensibility with a touch of nature. The blend is reminiscent of a bespoke spa, yet it only requires a few key elements to achieve serene results.

A post shared by IHF Interiors Ltd (@ihfinteriors)

A photo posted by on

The first place to start when creating a spa-like bathroom is materials.

'Using natural materials like wood and stone is a great way to make any space feel pure and peaceful,' says Anne Haimes, design director and founder of Anne Haimes Interiors. 'Organic textures and colors are often used in spas to calm you and simulate a natural environment.'

As we can see in Waterhouse's bathroom, sturdy wood is highly complementary against soft rugs and lush plants. Haimes says that implementing a diverse assortment of materials helps soften a bathroom, and allows it to feel less clinical and more inviting.

'Hard-wearing porcelain works well for both walls and floors, and this can be used with a stone or wood effect tile,' she states. 'You may choose large tiles with minimal joins to add a flowing spacious feel to the bathroom.'

She continues, 'You can decorate with natural materials such as placing a marble bowl of pebbles by the sink or a woven basket of towels by the bath. These ornaments combined with a serene background will help create your earthy, zen-inducing zone.'

Greenery is a naturally calming presence, so it makes sense that plants are an essential in any spathroom. But which house plants reduce stress?

'Plants add color and life to any room and are particularly apt for a spathroom since they have been proven to relieve stress,' Haimes says. 'They also improve air quality by releasing oxygen and reducing the amount of dust in the air. Pick plants that can tolerate warm, humid conditions with low light – bamboo, golden pothos and snake plants are great choices.'

As far as care goes, 'You will need to water these plants, so use pots with gravel at the bottom for drainage and check on the water levels. Aloe Vera, Peace Lily and Ivy are some other aesthetic plants that are fairly low maintenance and will liven up your spathroom.'

Finally, for those who want to splurge, consider investing in a tub that will lend to a spa-quality experience.

'Having the right bath is essential, as it gives you the ideal spot to relax surrounded by bubbles,' Haimes explains. 'Use a bath rack to keep your book or cup of tea nearby for ultimate self-care. Swap out your old shower head for a high-pressure one with adjustable settings, or even a deluxe rainfall shower head that will look stunning in your new bathroom. Little changes also go a long way, like putting body wash and shampoo in amber-glass containers or using high-end candles and oil diffusers.'

<p class='vanilla-image-block' data-bordeaux-image-check style='padding-top:100.00%';>

Jasmine Candle

<p class='vanilla-image-block' data-bordeaux-image-check style='padding-top:100.00%';>

Terracotta embossed planter

<p class='vanilla-image-block' data-bordeaux-image-check style='padding-top:100.00%';>

Frontgate Bath Towels

Creating a spa experience at home doesn't have to entail a full bathroom renovation. We also love these accessories (above) that are sure to bring a spathroom feeling to any sized home.

If there were to be a color that morphs into a neutral come springtime, it would be nature's very own green. Reminiscent of fresh grass and leafy plants, green can be seen around the home all year round, but it takes on a whole new meaning in a time of growth and rebirth.

Daisy Jones & The Six star Suki Waterhouse and Twilight's Robert Pattinson have utilized a deep shade in their kitchen, and they have not shied away from covering all surfaces.
The only thing better than a bathroom that nails a timeless design feature is one that masters three. Enter – the luxurious marble space in Suki Waterhouse and Robert Pattinson's abode, which exemplifies three categories in the bathroom design world: materials, colors, and finishes.

Suki recently took to Instagram to demonstrate her admiration for a sweet-scented laundry product (that she uses to clean her Dior dress, naturally), but we admit, we were somewhat distracted by her marble-draped backdrop. The actress's spa bathroom plays with this luxurious material in excess – a look that hasn't gone unnoticed by experts – but, as mentioned, it's not the only feature worth talking about.

Alongside the couple's choice of materials, experts say that their earthy color palette and muted gold finishes are just as likely to stand the test of time. So, while these features are no quick investment, they're almost sure to impress through the centuries.

A post shared by Suki Waterhouse (@sukiwaterhouse)

A photo posted by on

According to Rikki Fothergill, the style expert at the luxury bathroom specialist, the Big Bathroom Shop, earthy hues, marble, and gold hardware are among the features that will age the most beautifully – just as they have already done for so many years already.

To future-proof our bathroom, Rikki recommends choosing 'premium materials such as marble,' along with natural stones that 'exude a sense of luxury' through their textures, durability, and chic appearance.' They will create a great base for your bathroom design,' she says.

However, it is not only the marble but also the color of this material that's expected to age well. Rikki says we should opt for a neutral color scheme, led by earthy tones – that tap into the eternally popular quiet luxury aesthetic.

'These colors create a serene and grounded ambiance, contributing to the quiet luxury aesthetic. Whether this is achieved through paint or tiling, experiment with color-blocking these muted tones to create more dimension in a bigger space,' Rikki notes.

It seems only fitting, therefore, that Robert and Suki conclude their space with classic gold fixtures and finishes – the third feature that, Rikki says, is a safe investment for the years ahead.

'Going for a timeless look should still be personal to your taste. If your home fits into a more traditional, cottage-inspired look, French-style fixtures will carry you through years of stylish use. Alternatively, if you're someone with a more contemporary style, sleek gold or bronze fixtures will blend in seamlessly with the rest of your home decor,' she says.

Of course, we couldn't also help but look into the laundry product Suki uses to ensure her dress is clean and perfectly scented. The wash comes from The Laundress, and if it's good enough for Suki's designer dress, than how can we disagree?

'I was given this dress from Christian Dior, and they never asked for it back, so I guess it’s mine now. Instead of sending it out to the laundrette, I decided to hand wash it because it makes me feel like a prairie girl in the ‘50s. Also, it’s the best way to be super gentle with the fabric, especially when I’m using The Laundress’ Delicate Wash,' Suki says.
When it comes to creating memorable and unique spaces, color is our friend. However, for those of us who are not as used to using brighter shades, incorporating bold hues can feel intimidating. Another oft-successful but frequently-feared design choice is mixing different design styles in one room. Suki Waterhouse's bedroom shows that we need not be afraid of color nor mixed styles.

Her bedroom constitutes an approachable and understated version of eclectic style. Dark, natural hardwood floors, white walls, and white bedding form the grounding base of her stylish bedroom decor. Fun details like a crystal chandelier, farmhouse patterned headboard, tiffany-style lamp, and modern red velvet armchair incorporate pops of Suki's personality. It's the kind of space that shows that our nervousness around color and pattern is unwarranted.

A post shared by Suki Waterhouse (@sukiwaterhouse)

A photo posted by on

Interior designers love Suki Waterhouse's understated approach to colorful bedroom design. First, they say the 'base' of neutrals helps to give the brighter colors in the room a relaxed feel. Artem Kropovinsky, NYC-based interior designer and founder of Arsight, says: 'The room is made calm by the use of the off-white color scheme, which serves as a background for other pieces. The floor is made of dark wood with a rough texture that gives it a natural feel and depth.'

Jennifer Ebert, digital editor and color expert at Homes & Gardens adds: 'If you are new to color, you can't go wrong with using a white base. It helps to break up bright shades in the room, keeping them from looking overwhelming. It also helps other details to feel more casual, helping to keep your space cozy and liveable.'

Designers also say that Suki has done an excellent job making her bohemian bedroom look interesting. Artem states, 'A dark red armchair adds some personality to the room and brings it to life. Florally patterned upholstery combining white, muted green, and brown introduces nature into the space without overwhelming it.'

He continues, 'The broad mix of styles ranging from rustic rough floors to contemporary looking armchair creates dynamic and interesting space. Despite all these elements, there is a sense of balance and coherence in the presence of a neutral base color tying together different components. It is an interior design aimed at creating an inviting personal climate focused on comfort and self-expression.'

Shop the Suki Waterhouse Edit:

<p class='vanilla-image-block' data-bordeaux-image-check style='padding-top:100.00%';>

Tiffany Lamp

This stained glass lamp in the style of Tiffany's is timeless and classic.
Actor Robert Pattinson and model Suki Waterhouse have purchased a late 1930s Spanish Colonial Revival-style home in the stylish Hollywood Hills for $5.3 million. The Batman and Twilight star and London-born model Suki are not the first celebrities to call the historic property their home, however.

The house, in a gated community in central Los Angeles, California, was previously renovated by designer Jeff Lewis who documented the renovation process on Bravo's Flipping Out, in which he (and his team) transforms million-dollar properties into new homes. Shortly after, in 2014, Gossip Girl's creator Stephanie Savage purchased the estate before selling it to Grammy-winning musician Beck (known for his song Loser) and his former wife, actress Marissa Ribisi.

Following Beck and Marissa Ribisi's divorce in 2021, Marissa sold the historic Hollywood estate (which qualifies as one of the world's best homes) to Robert and Suki for $2.2 million more than the former couple had paid in 2018, Dirt reports.

A post shared by Dirt (@dirtdotcom)

A photo posted by on

According to property details acquired by Dirt, the 3-bedroom home is 'admirably private,' hidden behind a large hedge wall and locked gates. Beyond the Spanish Colonial façade, inside, the decorating ideas are equally as majestic – seen primarily through the pièce de résistance of the home – the living room.

The space in question (seen in the 3rd image on the photo carousel above) boasts a host of architectural assets, including a brick fireplace and vaulted, wood-beamed ceiling. In terms of its color ideas, the living room has a contrastable white and brown palette – seen through its paint and dark-hued hardwood floors that flow into the dining room, family room, and adjacent kitchen.

The kitchen's color scheme is notably darker and cocooning, showcasing rich dark wood cabinetry and a tiled backsplash juxtaposing against the marble countertops.

Two ensuite bedrooms and a more extensive primary suite sit on the same level – the latter of which has a quaint window seat with views of the estate. There is also a plunge pool surrounded by lush greenery (that adds interest while maintaining privacy).

Where is the home of Robert Pattinson?

Alongside his new Hollywood Hills home, Robert Pattinson reportedly owns another smaller house in the same Los Angeles neighborhood. On the other side of the Atlantic, The UK native and Suki (also from London) rent a flat in West London, but the exact location and many details about its interiors remain unknown.
