I Never Thought a Pink Sofa Could Feel Sophisticated – Until Anne Hathaway’s Muted Rose Seating Completely Proved Me Wrong
Anne Hathaway's pink sofa is a Parisian masterpiece – and it shows that pink hues will never go out of style
I hate to say it, but when it comes to sofa choices, I've been known to question the popularity of pink. Bold shades like navy and emerald feel like a powerful statement, while soft neutrals are timeless – but I've never known quite what to make of sofa color trends like powder pink or dusty rose. That is, until I spotted Anne Hathaway's Parisian-inspired living room, and it all made perfect sense.
Pink is the secret to a space that feels contemporary and yet classic – especially when that space, created by Gramercy Design, takes cues from Parisian design. Anne's pink sofa once sat within a neo-Georgian Manhattan apartment (which the actress owned until 2020), but it might as well claim a spot in a sprawling atelier in the French capital.
Paired with a sleek leather armchair and a glass-topped coffee table, the sofa becomes the focal point of a stunning, mid-century modern scheme. (Anne's exact sofa is courtesy of the late designer Vladimir Kagan, but you can get the look with this East Urban Home upholstered sofa from Wayfair.)

Anne proves that a pink sofa really is a worthy investment, and I've got my eye on this curved beauty from Wayfair. The flowing, organic shape and refined pink hue will bring Parisian elegance to any space.
For a more budget-friendly (and compact) alternative to Anne's couch, try this coral pink loveseat. I love the textured finish and the chunkier shape; while it's ideal for smaller spaces, this piece will still make a big impact.
If you don't fancy splurging on a new sofa, you can still channel Anne's style with a bolster cushion like this one. It incorporates pink hues and gentle curves, as well as adding some luxurious textures to your living room.
Even in a living room like Anne's, which boasts crisp white walls and soaring ceilings, pink can feel like a daring choice. I'm never sure whether dusty pink upholstery is slipping out of style, and I've always wondered how to keep pink seating feeling fresh.
Yet in Anne's apartment, the pink sofa strikes an expert balance between sophistication and surprise. It certainly makes a statement, but it still acts as a soft neutral, perfectly complementing the rest of the room.
Tying in with smaller details like the wall molding and marble fireplace, it really brings the Parisian look to life – and cements this refined and yet low-slung style as a definite sofa trend for 2026.
For all its buzzy popularity, however, pink doesn't just play into trends; according to designers, it holds a much more timeless appeal.

'When it’s handled this subtly, pink brings warmth without making a room feel trendy,' explains Amy Kunst, Principal Interior Designer at Designed Curated Interiors.
'It gives the eye somewhere to land while still keeping the palette calm. The color of Anne's sofa is muted and dusty, which allows it to sit comfortably alongside the white walls, plaster ceiling, and stone fireplace without competing with them.'
Then, of course, there's the elegantly curved shape of the couch. To me, it offers a contemporary twist on the traditional chaise longue, further enhancing the Parisian feel of the room while inviting a sense of comfort and effortless style. I never thought I'd say it, but I've been totally won over by this rose-hued sofa – and I finally understand why designers return to pink shades again and again.
