I Thought I’d Seen Every Possible Twist on the Ralph Lauren Christmas Aesthetic, but Dolly Parton’s Unique Candlescaping Defied All Expectations
Dolly accessorizes her living area with tapered candles, showing us how timeless and chic these simple pieces are for Christmas and beyond
It's been the look that has dominated the 2025 festive season: the Ralph Lauren Christmas aesthetic has come in full force with a penchant for plaid, reds and greens, and cozy, comfortable materials and accessories.
Dolly Parton is even partaking in the trend, having recently shared a snap of her living room set-up on Instagram. A Ralph Lauren Christmas signifier we couldn't help but admire is the array of candles decorating Dolly's mantel, with some even sitting in the fireplace.
An interior design trend that can extend beyond the holidays, decorating with candles is a fantastic way to create a warm, inviting living area, and we are inclined to replicate the space.

You’re probably set on full-size Christmas wreaths by now, but what about the minis? Terrain has decided every candle deserves its own halo, offering tiny beaded rings of winter sprigs and bright red berries that easily dress up a plain taper.
These unscented, tree-shaped tapers come in a set of two in a single color for a coordinated holiday look. Made from paraffin wax with a wick, they have an approximate burn time of 5 hours for the small size and 10 hours for the large.
Luxury candle brands and fashion houses have been debuting candle configurations that, in true avant-garde fashion, are designed to serve as their own base entirely – no candlesticks required. Terrain has followed suit. Style it solo, or add a few pins across the surface for a little glitz.
The classic brass candlestick provides a perfect base for rustic, natural accents like preserved moss, fresh stems, or tiny botanicals. You could also use it to showcase small treasures or jewelry on a dresser or vanity, letting your personal style take center stage.
Crafted from metal with a brass finish, their geometric design adds a touch of modern elegance to any space, from holiday decor to everyday styling long after December. Known also as Herrnhut stars, they’re made to be durable and eye-catching.
Forget the fairy lights. Plow & Hearth’s faux candles clip directly to the branches, bringing an elegant, candlelit glow – minus the fire hazard. They’re remote-controlled, buildable, and far chicer than a string of LEDs.
According to design experts, the candles are a major aspect of the traditional-inspired Ralph Lauren aesthetic.
'This season sees a revival of heritage styling, drawing from rich countryside influences and the classic Ralph Lauren aesthetic,' Josh Branigan, a furniture and home interiors expert at uhomeware retailer Cuckooland, explains. 'The focus is on deep, comforting tones such as hunter green and burgundy, paired with aged brass, crystal glassware, and sleek, understated ornaments.'
He continues, 'To bring this trend in, pair dark tartans with elegant glassware, vintage brass candlesticks, and simple greenery. The aim is to create a cosy yet sophisticated setting that feels both traditional and refreshed. Embrace the nostalgic side of the look with layered textures, soft lighting, and treasured vintage finds to achieve that elevated, fireside mood.'
To get the look, try experimenting with candles of different shapes and sizes, like these tree-style taper candles, and pair them with metallic accessories, like these brass candlestick holders, for maximum impact. If this look is Dolly-approved, who can argue?
