Insider look: Giada De Laurentiis’s exact summer hosting formula – from luxe linens to her Italian-inspired citrus centerpiece
In an exclusive interview, Giada shared that all her entertaining is informed by Italian heritage and celebratory moments

Summer is the ultimate time for dining al fresco with friends and loved ones, and thus, we are always on the lookout for hosting inspiration. A consistent source of wisdom is none other than Giada De Laurentiis, who recently partnered with Peroni on their new Italian Beer Ice treat.
'Partnering with Peroni felt like such a natural fit for me,' she tells Homes & Gardens in an exclusive interview. 'We both share a love for Italian heritage, quality ingredients, and celebrating the little pleasures in life.'
We couldn't help but wonder what else Giada does to entertain in the summer successfully, so we asked the chef and TV personality for her top tips.
First and foremost, creating a perfect tablescape is critical when hosting in the summer; it sets the ambiance and tells a story with colors, materials, and accessories. This includes an unexpected centerpiece in the form of Peroni and lemons.
'For summer entertaining, I love a table that feels relaxed and full of Italian flair—linen, woven textures, and simple white plates with pops of citrus, herbs, and flowers,' she tells us.
'Peroni is always part of my setup – it’s crisp, stylish, and so refreshing. I like to serve it in a chilled bucket with lemon slices – it’s the perfect festive touch for a summer gathering.'

'When summer rolls around, I like to lighten everything up, both indoors and outdoors. I swap in breezy linens, lots of natural textures, and of course, fresh greenery to make the space feel more airy and relaxed,' she explains. 'Outside, I keep it simple with comfy seating, some lights, and big bowls of citrus or fresh herbs for a little pop of color and scent.'
When it comes to dos and don'ts, she suggests sticking with familiar favorites, cooking-wise, as well as opting for simplicity.
'Try to plan a menu that you’re already comfortable with (avoid trying something new) so that you’re not stressed out or stuck in the kitchen,' she tells us. 'I always say, if you’re having fun, your guests will too! A big “don’t” for me is overcomplicating things. You don’t need to make a five-course meal or stress over little details.'
We're following Giada De Laurentiis’s for the rest of summer, starting with her handy and surprisingly chic ice bucket tip.
