Second-hand home and furniture shopping is a double win: you're guaranteed a unique piece, and you're also making a sustainable purchase. Jennifer Aniston is a big proponent of the trend, in case you needed more incentive to hunt for gems online.

The proof? Her home's designer, Stephen Shadley, shared on Instagram that Jennifer's pool table – a rich, oak piece with a blue top – is from the ever-popular second-hand shopping hub, eBay.

Design experts say that secondhand purchases make smart investment pieces due to their durable materials (specifically with items like pool tables).

'We’ve noticed a growing number of homeowners pairing vintage finds with high-quality finishing touches, and it makes perfect sense,' says Home Improvement Expert, David Gray from Corston Architectural Detail. 'It’s less about showroom perfection and more about uniqueness, provenance, and feel-good choices.'

He continues, 'Always choose design with longevity in mind. This aligns naturally with secondhand furniture. Solid brass switches, knobs, and handles help add polish to a worn wood cabinet or bring cohesion to a mix of eras. You don’t need to buy everything new to make a home feel elevated. One smart upgrade, like swapping old sockets or door handles with something timeless, can pull a whole look together.'

He also emphasizes that mixing old with new, like Jennifer has done with her chic bar space alongside the vintage table, is a tactic that transcends trends.

'There’s also a functional element,' he says. 'Vintage pieces often outlast modern MDF alternatives, and when homeowners blend them with durable fixtures, they’re creating spaces that are both stylish and built to last. It’s an exciting shift, not just in how homes look, but in how we value and care for the things inside them.'

To recreate the look, naturally, scroll through eBay for a vintage, wood pool table. This one from the '90s is a fantastic pick and is fairly reasonable for $1,200. Alternatively, if your home already has quite a few vintage statement pieces, this budget-friendly option from Amazon is a great option.
