At a glance, I thought this architecturally-inspired chair would be way out of my budget – it's miraculously under $330 (and designed by Kelly Clarkson)
Striking and sculptural, this chair seems like a collector’s item, until you see its price tag – it's hiding deep on Wayfair now

After over four years working here at Homes & Gardens, I didn't think any accent chair could impress me enough to stop me in my scrolling tracks, but Kelly Clarkson's Steven Chenille Barrel Chair just did precisely that.
When it caught my attention, I forgot, for a brief moment, that I was browsing Wayfair.
Its architecturally-inspired design (with wraparound armrests and a suspended seat) and chic terracotta colorway mean it feels like a sculptural designer piece that could easily sell for ten times its price tag. Unbelievably, however, it's currently on sale for under $330 – but don't blame me if it sells out before you finish reading.
If you want an accent chair that's sculptural enough to feel like a work of art, you won't find one at a lower price tag than this one.
If you're looking to make an instant statement, this chair is hard to rival. Its frame, crafted from a blend of solid and engineered wood, is fully upholstered in soft, boucle-inspired chenille that enhances its smooth, curved silhouette, ensuring it feels like a real work of art. Plus, the fabric is stain-resistant to handle everyday spills with ease, meaning it's as functional as it is beautiful.
Investing in a dramatic accent chair is one thing, but knowing where to position it (to enhance its full power) is another. If the space allows, interior designer Laura Hammett explains that you should double-up with your accent chairs and place them alongside two sofas for the perfect arrangement.
'In the living room, the seating arrangement should be centred around a central zone but not feel too tight or close. The layout should allow the viewer to imagine the potential for relaxation and conversation,' she says.
'Consider placing two sofas along two sides, and on the third side, place two accent chairs with a small cocktail table between. This will be the side with the access route to the rest of the living space to open the flow of movement and make the home staging feel intentional and functional. This setup around a large coffee table creates an easy flow, ensuring the space feels open yet intimate.'

If you're looking for smaller living room seating ideas, I recommend placing your chair at a slight angle toward the sofa, rather than directly opposite: it feels cozier and takes up less space.
To make the process simpler, I've rounded up some more of my favorite accessories that are versatile enough to pair beautifully with this chair and any sofa you may already have.
Crafted in India from 100% cotton with an organic texture, this pillow’s cover is surrounded with a thick tassel fringe for a bit of boho appeal. It's the unique addition you've been looking for.
Create a calming and sophisticated living room decor scheme with this textured cream pillow, complete with fringed edging for added interest.
If you want to upgrade your accent chair for fall, this pillow is perfect. Boucle might not be an inherently fall-themed material, but when it's made in this soft tan color, it feels perfectly fitting for the season.
