Kesha’s 'clean and minimal' bathroom color scheme has benefits beyond its good looks, experts say
With proper organizing techniques and a muted palette, a bathroom can feel much larger than its actual size
What does Kesha's breakout 2000s track Tik Tok have in common with white bathrooms? They're both instant classics.
The singer-songwriter, who recently performed her smash hit with Renee Rapp at Coachella, favors clean, minimal interior decor, so naturally, she's opted for a light and airy bathroom design. In an Instagram post, she showed off her textured white bathroom, complete with a freestanding tub and ceramic sink. The result is a space that feels as clean as it does open.
White is a sought-after color in the bathroom not only because it pairs well with practically any color, from neutrals to brights, but also because it has expansive properties that can aid in maintaining a tidy space, as experts explain.

'Kesha’s clean and minimal white bathroom is a great inspiration for those looking to create a space that feels bright and open, particularly for those who are working with smaller spaces,' says Vlatka Lake, storage expert at Space Station. This color and its ability to make a room feel larger works in every room (naturally). However, arguably, no space benefits more than a bathroom; as Lake explains, it is notably prone to clutter.
'Bathrooms often become a dumping ground for clutter, bursting with skincare, bulky shampoos, and cleaning products, so it’s crucial to find storage solutions that work for you and your space without feeling cramped,' she says.
To keep clutter at bay, Lake recommends organizing bathroom accessories in containers. Ones made from natural materials, such as linen, will especially highlight existing white features in a bathroom.
'If you have space to spare, you may want to opt for some simple yet effective storage boxes to house your belongings and toiletries,' Lake suggests. 'Storage boxes can be more versatile than traditional bathroom cabinets and look great when paired with a white bathroom, to help give the illusion of a bigger space.'

Kesha has utilized subtle storage solutions in her white bathroom, such as wood soap dishes and metal trays, but hidden storage also helps (i.e., her closet door and under-the-sink space). Regardless of existing storage solutions, Lake encourages us to try out different methods to keep the space clean.
'As a neutral color, white bathrooms are a great base to build from, so don’t be afraid to experiment with your storage choices, all while making the most of your space,' she says.
