Personally, I've never thought of a knife as one of the most essential garden tools, but Martha Stewart does.

In a recent interview with QVC, the doyenne of homes shared that her most-used pruning tool is a tomato knife (available at QVC). She stated: 'In my garden bag, my essential tools include, well, the tomato knife, which is great for pruning.'

Lucky for those who want to emulate all of Martha's garden ideas, it's on sale for under $30 as part of her QVC collection. Martha swears by the affordable brand. She explains: 'Not only do you get really beautifully designed and manufactured products, you get things that you actually need and want. That's why I like QVC.'

Why does Martha need the knife? Gardening is an essential part of her life.

She explains: 'Do I prefer a vegetable garden or a flower garden? Well, I have to have both. Essential. I love to eat from my garden.I love to pick from my garden. If I could only use one recipe for the rest of my life, it would be a mixed salad.'
