Some of us like to infuse greenery into the home the natural way – through decorating with plants – while others like to introduce this nature-inspired hue through furnishings and decor.

When it comes to the latter option, we are looking to Martha Stewart, who recently shared a clip of her green, regency-esque armchair on her Instagram page, giving us some green room ideas.

With its wood legs, the key lime seat beautifully colors the otherwise netural space, which features a beige rug, and antique dishes hanging on the greige-wallpapered wall. It's just the right addition of sophisticated vibrancy to the area.

According to experts, the color's reminiscence of the great outdoors makes green a highly versatile color choice, meaning it is a safe selection for a piece of furniture like a sofa or chair.

'A green accent chair serves as a bold statement piece that adds both elegance and comfort to any living space,' explains designer Nina Lichtenstein. [It] makes you feel surrounded by the comforts of nature. It’s an effortless way to bring the calming influence of the outdoors inside, fostering a sense of relaxation and well-being.'

To accessorize a green chair or sofa, Nina recommends implementing visual appeal with textured elements.

'Add depth and texture with a mix of cushions, throws, and rugs,' she suggests. 'Choose complementary colors and patterns that enhance the green without overwhelming it.'

These complementary colors include neutrals like soft creams, grays, or browns, which we can see pair perfectly with Martha's green chair via the wood legs.

Nina also suggests bringing in real greenery and other natural pieces to accentuate any green furnishings, particularly if you are working within a Japandi or organic modern design scheme.

'Incorporate plants, wooden furniture, and natural fibers to emphasize the connection to nature. These elements can bring out the best in your green sofa, making the space feel organic and cohesive.'

Whether you opt for a more modern or traditional seat, green is a fantastic choice if you are searching for a furniture color that will both set and transcend trends.
