She says, 'One of my favorite things at Christmas is to decorate the Christmas table and to do that, I sometimes decorate my candlesticks.'

Martha begins the DIY with some wire. She explains, 'What you have to do first is cut a length of wire (Martha recommends 18 or 20 gauge wire, such as this 18 Gauge Dark Green Floral Paper Wrapped Wire from Amazon) and form this into a ring of a size that would fit around your candlestick base.' Pointing to her wreath, she says, 'This is your mini wreath frame.'

Once the wire base has been created, you can then attach your sprigs of foliage. The beauty of the look is its versatility. 'You could add a pinecone', suggests Martha, or other wintry motifs like berries, fir branches or even mistletoe.

Simple yet effective, Martha says, 'These are very festive and very practical. They'll protect your table tops and your best linens from dripping candlewax. They're a good thing.'
