Bringing the outdoors in is a timeless trend in interiors, from Japandi to rustic modern design. Nikki Reed has taken this approach quite literally with her bathroom, which features a chic, cozy interior that even her horses approve of.

As seen on her Instagram page, the space features a crisp, white standalone tub, lush greenery, and wood furnishings, which come together effortlessly. It's a masterclass in rustic modern design.

'It all started with a vision: a bathroom designed around the magic of bathing while horses wander up to open windows to say hello, listening to the sound of squirrels chasing each other through the trees,' she states in the caption. 'A claw-foot tub with old-world elegance and rustic wood tones to create a distinct farmhouse feel. I closed my eyes and I could see it, and now, it’s here.'

According to design experts, rustic aesthetics are timeless in their appeal, making them a great style to adopt in a space like the bathroom.

'Rustic bathrooms, for example, will always be timeless in design,' says Louise Ashdown, head of design at West One Bathrooms. '

Blending rustic natural elements and blending with a contrasting surface basin creates a unique, warm space. We have had clients source reclaimed oak slabs and use them as countertop shelves, teaming with colored basins for an added statement.'

While Nikki used fixtures from the bespoke brand Signature Hardware, you can achieve the look with affordable accessories, like this plaid bathmat from Target, or a simple, wood bath caddy from McGee & Co.

If you incorporate a blend of natural materials and textures, and of course, some heat-tolerant plants, then you can't go wrong. Just take it from Nikki.
