As cool as it is elegant, blue is one of my personal favorite colors to decorate with, anywhere from the kitchen to the bathroom, and Reese Witherspoon is clearly of the same camp.
The actor recently shared a clip from her reading nook, and I was immediately drawn in by her vintage-inspired, muted-blue armchair (much like this one from Wayfair), which perfectly complements her white-and-gold sconce and neutral wallpaper.
As we can see in the video, decorating with blue adds a fantastic pop to the space while complementing the existing color palette, making it one of the most versatile shades for a home library.

Featuring a delicately pleated shade and a gold base, this Novogratz-designed sconce will transition into any reading corner, of any style. Pair it with a warm bulb for a glow that radiates all evening long.
Design experts agree that blue can (and should) be introduced in a variety of design schemes, from traditional to modern.
'Whether your home is minimalist or full of unique treasures, you can seamlessly incorporate blue within your home decor,' says Charlotte Ford, senior marketing director at Ruggable.
'For a maximalist style, cobalt blue pairs well with mid-century modern furniture pieces, bright pink or coral colourways, and a mix of fabrics and textures such as velvet, silk and linen. You can even play with patterns, too, through colourful, geometric rugs and wall art.'
She continues, 'Alternatively, for a more minimalist interior look, you should opt for neutral colours in your home, such as brown, especially rich, coffee-inspired shades, which pair perfectly with vibrant blue shades. The best thing about interior style is that there really are no rules, so just style things how you want.'

To recreate Reese's blue corner, start with a solid accent chair, like this one from Wayfair. Accessorize with plush throws, like this Williams-Sonoma one, and add an antique-style sconce, and you've got yourself a timeless sitting area.
Whether you’re channeling a cozy reading nook or adding a bold accent to your living room, blue proves time and again that it’s both versatile and timeless. Take a page from Reese’s book: mix it with textures, patterns, and a touch of vintage charm, and you’ve got a space that’s effortlessly stylish (and entirely your own).
