There's a reason houseplants are such a tried and true way of sprucing up a home; they bring in a natural source of greenery to even the most minimal of spaces, while also providing points of visual interest. As a bonus: they, along with their pots, function as beautiful decor.

Take Seth Rogen's collection of plants, for example. As seen on the award-winning comedian and filmmaker's Instagram page, and we loved the stunning simplicity of his greenery decorating a corner of his home.

The array of plants (from ficus and palm to alocasia) add dimension to the area, as the leaves sprout in different shapes and hues. Their handmade, ceramic pots, in shades of terracotta and mustard yellow, give the plants a complementary touch. It certainly makes the case for decorating with houseplants.

According to experts, the assortment of plants that Seth has gone for is a fantastic blend; however, one plant in particular needs some extra TLC.

'Seth Rogen has created a beautiful houseplant display in this corner,' says Gardens content editor Tenielle Jordison.

'The alocasia on the far right is particularly eye-catching, though they do require some particular care. Alocasia does best in bright light and with consistent, but not soggy, moisture levels. This makes them an excellent companion to ficus plants (far left), which also appreciate brighter light. Ficus plants are also best placed out of the path of cold drafts, which can cause them to drop leaves.'

With that in mind, it's crucial to ensure you have some solid plant food on hand, as well as a watering can.

You can also experiment with plant heights to avoid the cold draft Tenielle mentioned. If you place the plants on stools, like Seth has done, you can place them lower or higher depending on your home's layout and proximity to a window.

Finally, playing around with pot colors is a surefire way to make these plants look as aesthetically pleasing is possible. We are partial to the warm, sunny hues Seth has on display, but cool tones can work well, too.
