To the public, Shania Twain is defined by an immense cultural presence. Yet, her latest project turns inward, focusing on something more intimate: the atmosphere of the home.

The debut of the Shania Twain Rose – a luxury Hybrid Tea variety bred by Rosen Tantau and cultivated by April & Ashley – functions less as a typical brand collaboration than a genuine extension of her own story. Her formative years spent working in the forests of Northern Ontario shaped a lasting connection to the natural world, fostering a dual appreciation for both raw landscapes and the comfort of refined interiors. That balance is mirrored in the rose variety itself.

With its striking pink-and-yellow petals, the Shania Twain Rose introduces a sophisticated warmth to living spaces, while a portion of proceeds supports food security for families in need – anchoring the design in a deeply personal purpose.

When considering how to integrate this distinctive palette into a space, Shania looks beyond traditional floral tropes, adopting a more versatile, unexpected design philosophy.

'Roses were my mom’s favorite, and they remain close to my heart – anyone who knows me knows I love my roses,' Shania begins, in an exclusive interview with Homes & Gardens.

'People usually associate them with romance, Valentine’s Day, all that good stuff, but to me roses are also wild, feminine, elegant. It’s part of where my new song "Dirty Rosie" came from. I was imagining a soft pink work truck, dirty from being out in the woods. There’s so much more versatility in a rose than most of us think, and I think my rose could elevate a space for a fancy summer picnic or give you this natural, outdoors-y feeling as you transition between spaces in the home.'

Beyond the visual styling of an interior, the rose’s subtle, fruity fragrance introduces a further sensory dimension. It is an invisible layer of design that, for Shania, is inextricably linked to personal history and reflection.

'My new album Little Miss Twain is really a reflection and looking back on my life. That’s the feeling the smell of a rose gives me – peace, comfort, compassion,' Shania says.

'When I think of them in my house, I think of that room being the most welcoming. It’s part of why they’re such an important flower to me, and why we chose them in our partnership to support the Shania Twain Foundation’s goals to improve food security for children and families. I’d always told myself I’d try to help kids like my younger self, and a rose is symbolic of a better, tranquil place to me.'

That interplay between nature and nurture ultimately sits at the heart of the collaboration. While the bloom brings an organic elegance to a garden edging or tabletop arrangement, it also reflects a personal duality that Shania returns to throughout our conversation: a lifelong affinity for both untamed landscapes and thoughtfully curated interiors.

'Listen, you know I’ll always be an outdoors girl at heart. That’s what a lot of my new songs are about,' Shania says.

'My fans may not know that side of me as well, that I grew up working in the forest and spending all this time outside. Like anyone, I like nice things too. To me, this rose is the perfect blend of that rugged, pure feeling and that elevated, luxurious sensibility. It feels like the two sides of me, in one flower. I love how you can use them in the home while bringing some of the world’s natural beauty into your living space.'

For Shania, the rose is more than a beautiful accessory. It is a reminder of her roots, the values she carries forward, and the tranquility she seeks to cultivate both in her home and the wider community. In that sense, its true resonance lies well beyond its role as a piece of living decor.
