When it comes to home paint colors, we tend to focus on interiors. However, an often overlooked but underrated aspect of painting a house is coloring the exterior. Not only can it increase curb value, but painted homes can give an intentional first impression to guests as soon they come to the front door.

Sofia Richie Grainge – a notable proponent of the quiet luxury trend – is a great example. The model and influencer recently posted a photo on her Instagram page showing off her baby bump, along with her monochromatic, greige door and matching exterior walls (in true Richie Grainge fashion, she coordinated her pants with the paint color). The exterior paint color blends seamlessly with her clay planter and white, spherical light fixture, leading us to propose greige as the new black.

A middle point between gray and beige, greige is ever popular as a neutral hue and fits perfectly within color palettes for trends such as organic modern and quiet luxury. Its versatility makes it a top choice for both interior and exterior color choice, real estate experts say.

'Gray-painted façades are an excellent way to add modern and timeless style to a home while also providing a neutral backdrop to showcase the home’s unique features,' says Boyd Rudy, the team leader and associate broker at MiReloTeam Keller Williams Realty Living. 'It can also be used to create a sense of unity between the home’s interior and exterior design.'

An effortless shade, greige and gray are also highly durable and able to withstand natural elements, making them suitable for outdoor use.

'Gray is a very versatile color that goes with almost any other color, making it easy to accessorize with plants, furniture, and other features,' Rudy says. 'Furthermore, it is a low-maintenance color and does not require frequent re-painting or other upkeep.'

Finally, because it is so adaptable, Rudy says that gray is a fantastic exterior paint choice due to its undeniable curb appeal.

'When it comes to adding value to a home, gray façades can be a great way to set a home apart from its neighbors and attract potential buyers,' the designer states. It's also a foreshadowing that the interior of the home is just as chic – after all, nothing creates a first impression quite like our home's façade. And nothing oozes modern, quiet luxury quite like this model-approved hue.
