I'm So Over Sad Beige Seasonal Decor – Pottery Barn's New Halloween Collection Is Nostalgic, Playful, and Exactly the Unserious Look I'm After
Memories of Halloweens past come back to life in Pottery Barn's latest drop, packed with pieces that'll excite your inner child and appease your adult taste
When I shop for Halloween decor, I'm not looking for overly sophisticated, high-end pieces – despite my usual preference for all things polished. It's one occasion I want to go a little kitschy; I want to feel the nostalgia of decorating for Halloween as a kid – which is exactly the vibe of Pottery Barn's new Halloween drop.
With witches, ghosts, and skeletons galore, this collection is so over the sad beige era of seasonal decorating. Decorations like the Hanging Ghosts and the Lit Broom remind me of how my parents used to decorate outside for Halloween when I was a kid, whereas the Skeleton Candy Bowl makes me think of trick-or-treating in my neighborhood and scurrying away from houses that spooked me a little too much.
Clearly, the collection is packed with pieces that'll delight your inner child. However, it certainly isn't devoid of elevated design features. Like the French Glaze Pumpkins or the Skeleton Wine Glasses, some of this decor effortlessly blends adult taste with childlike excitement – giving your home a playfully eerie edge without sacrificing your mature sense of style.
