As summer is now in full swing, can we tempt you to escape the city and head to the forest? Or, to be specific the New Forest? At our latest Summer Series event, we’ll be enjoying an afternoon at the beautiful Lime Wood Hotel, just outside Lyndhurst.
If you’re not already familiar with Lime Wood, you’ll soon want to be. Set in the heart of a national park, it’s the perfect secluded hideaway and only an hour and a half from London. Design fans will fall in love with the architectural features designed by Charles Morris and Ben Pentreath, and the interiors created by Susie Atkinson.
Foodies will make a beeline for the restaurant, where two of Britain’s greatest chefs, Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder, do the cooking. And if you’re in the mood to be pampered, the Herb House Spa offers treatments, a huge sauna with forest views and yoga classes in the sublime setting of a rooftop herb garden.
Our afternoon starts with a little indulgence, when champagne and nibbles will be served in the Drawing Room. Sophisticated and stylish, tae in the the decor that’s a smart mix of striking modern design and county chic.
Then hear us grill Susie, the brains behind the hotel’s interiors, for her tips on how to create a beautifully layered scheme. As you’ll discover, Susie has a truly timeless approach to decorating, using colour, natural materials and layers of texture to bring interiors to life.
Afterwards, explore the gardens at your leisure. Be sure to visit the Green House, where fresh produce is grown for the restaurant, and the wild flower meadows that draw you through towards the forest.
