Even neutral-lover Joanna Gaines has embraced the colorful vintage Christmas trend this year – here's how her eclectic yet chic tree looks for 2024
Joanna's switched out her classic rustic style for the ever-popular retro trend. Let's see how she decorates her tree with fun, vintage-style ornaments

Joanna Gaines is known for showcasing her neutral, rustic style in her design projects and around her own home, but much to our surprise, this year she's gone for a colorful and retro-themed Christmas tree.
There's been a revival of vintage Christmas decor recently, with tinsel and colorful ornaments gracing the homes of social media. And much like many of us, Joanna has chosen to embrace the nostalgic look this year too.
Covered from head-to-toe in the most classically festive ornaments and hundreds of twinkling lights, Joanna's Christmas tree is something out of a beloved Christmas movie. Her tree stands harmoniously under the living room's wooden beams, evoking an image of classic Christmases, proving that even the neutral lovers among us can make this playful trend work.

Distinctly glossy and vivid ornaments like Joanna's have been an integral part of many household Christmas collections for years. They have such a feeling of nostalgia for many of us, creating an instantly cozy, comforting scheme. And if you don't have a box already in the loft, then so many brands have been re-creating a similar look with whimsical and whacky ornaments.
Joanna's collection is clearly pretty vast, as her Christmas tree is covered entirely in fun retro baubles. But what keeps it from clashing too hard with her more laid-back rustic style are the classic warm white lights. You get all the nostalgia and kitschy vibes from the ornaments but the lights give the whole tree more of a cohesive look that leans into the more rustic and neutral scheme in the rest of her home.
This is such an easy look to replicate in your own home, and despite it being a trend for 2024, this Christmas decor style is timeless and involves decorations that you can bring out year after year.

Joanna places retro glass baubles like this one all over her tree and you can see why. You'll want to bring out this charming and colorful Santa ornament every Christmas, it's classic and fun.
This Gilded Swallow will soar around your tree and make an elegant accompaniment to any display. With its glistening sparkle and characterful features, this little bird is so hard to resist.
For all the green-thumbed garden lovers, this cute little gnome would make the perfect little friend to have on your tree this year. It's so kitsch in color and style and couldn't be easier to place on your tree with the handy clip fastening.
Joanna decorates her tree with bright red baubles, much like these from Pottery Barn. Red pairs well with pretty much any festive color, making them a super easy choice to slot in between your favorite retro pieces.
So, it seems that the retro can't be resisted this year, even for lovers of neutral, rustic, and minimal style. Joanna's taught us a lesson in classic elegance by combining vintage-style baubles with simple festive decor pieces, an easy yet effective look to recreate.
