Pottery Barn has just launched here in the UK. Those of us in the interior design space have been eagerly awaiting this launch for quite some time with unstinting curiosity to see what is in store, quite literally, for us. It is safe to say, it is well worth the wait.

Across the pond in the States, Pottery Barn is a well-known and much-adored homeware brand. Here in the UK, though, it has been something of a mystery, other than its brief appearance in 'Friends', which some of us remember fondly and with a chuckle. However, the reality is that Pottery Barn is a leader in setting home decor and furniture trends, and it's almost inevitable that this revered homeware brand will become a stalwart in this country, just as it has been since the 1940s in the US.

Here's everything you need to know about Pottery Barn here in the UK, and my top picks of their products to get your hands on before stocks inevitably run low and run out, once all of us interiors-obsessed, longtime fans of the brand flock to their site in hordes.

Here in the UK, Pottery Barn is not a tepid, halfhearted version of the fully-fledged US store; it is genuinely just as exciting, brimming full with living room ideas, bedroom ideas, rugs, curtains, lighting, furniture, and tableware.

Everything on their UK site, from bedding to light fittings, is a durable blend of aesthetic form and function. While their furniture designs have an essential clarity with a hint of character, items like their quilts, cushions, dinnerware collections, and tablecloths are far more unapologetically fantastical and decorative.

They have just launched their Autumn Lookbook, which appears to have drawn inspiration from the Scottish Highlands, featuring warm, earthy colors and illustrations of stags and grouse. You can also shop their collaboration with fashion brand Love Shack Fancy and, of course, their Coatsal Lookbook, which is a one-way ticket to achieving that unerringly chic Nancy Meyers aesthetic (Diane Keaton's old-money coastal style in Something's Gotta Give - yes please).

Home, though, is where Sophia's heart is. While she adores a wide variety of interior styles, she prefers interiors with a uniqueness that challenges any definable style. That said, there's little she finds more indulgent than walking down Pimlico Road and admiring the window display at Robert Kime; she has always found his interiors perfectly judged for a home that exudes an easy, unforced elegance.
