Joanna Gaines' Seasonal Styling Idea Is My New Favorite Halloween Hack – It's So Easy To Adapt For The Holiday

Joanna Gaines says vases are out and cloches are in – I'm using her tips to create a rustic centerpiece this Halloween

The best hosts aren't afraid to experiment – or get a little messy. This, at least, is what I took from a recent Instagram video from Joanna Gaines, in which a lingering shot of a floor littered with foliage is replaced by one of the most show-stopping centerpiece ideas I've seen in a while. The secret? A vintage-style glass cloche.

It's Joanna's alternative to displaying seasonal flowers and foliage in a regular vase – and I think, with just a few on-theme tweaks, it'll make the perfect Halloween table decor idea. While I love any excuse to invest in shiny new tableware and luxurious decor, sometimes the simplest can be the most spectacular.

From Terrain's 2025 Halloween collection to Target's Halloween table decor, I've been busy browsing the latest Halloween decorating ideas from my favorite brands. As soon as I saw Joanna Gaines' glass cloche hack, however, I just knew I needed to try it out at my next party.

While Joanna fills her cloches with a variety of seasonal stems, I'm planning to give mine a gothic twist using eerie foliage (like these faux moss pads from Wayfair) combined with carefully placed on-theme ornaments, such as McGee & Co's paper mache skulls or Pottery Barn's woven pumpkin vase fillers.

There really are endless ways to customize your glass cloche with different decorations for the seasons and events that you're celebrating, and I can't wait to get stuck in. I'm even thinking of filling mine with string lights or pillar candles to set the mood (I think Target's flameless black wick candles have just the right amount of spookiness).

Trust Joanna Gaines to share a dazzling tablescaping idea just as I'm planning my Halloween party. I'm thinking about using few smaller, but mixed size glass cloches as a table centerpiece but equally they'd look great on a mantel, console table or windowsill. Here's what I'm shopping to create my own.
