Formerly part of St Gabriel’s College for female teachers, this amazing 1908 chapel has been lovingly converted into a spectacular yet highly comfortable four-double bedroom home.
Complete with its own pulpit, majestic stained-glass windows, and Latin frieze, the reincarnated chapel is ideal for those seeking a unique piece of architectural excellence in Camberwell, south London.
The 20-year transformation was a labour of love for Peggy Prendeville, who lived on site in the chapel from 1999 as she converted the church into an enviable four bedroom, two bathroom property, that was once a part of Goldsmith College of Art.
'I lived on site whilst most of the work was taking place, I had a little spot at the top of the staircase where I would tuck myself away with a phone and a fax machine,' she said.
Peggy Prendeville has previously transformed a plethora of grand hotels and properties across the world, as well as a library in an 18th-century ballroom for auctioneers Sotheby's.

The property was originally created as the chapel for a women's teacher training college. It was later used as a seminary for Anglican priests and eventually became part of Goldsmiths College of Art, where many of the Young British Artists polished their skills in the 1980s.
'The conversion has been carried out to the highest standard with such expertise and care that it is easy to forget you are in a chapel. Instead you are transported to a cavernous theatre which is built for both family living and entertaining whilst all the while maintaining a cosy and charming demeanour,' explain the estate agents at Fine & Country.
The Chapel is securely situated within a private gated community. It overlooks Myatt’s Fields, a large park that has recently been transformed into an upmarket, splendid family public area with tennis courts and a charming cafe.
The house is on the market via Fine & Country for £3,000,000. You can view the property here.
