These $14 Large Lidded Bins are Perfect to use as Halloween Storage Tubs in November – They’ll Keep Pests and Dust Firmly Out Until 2026
Clear bins instantly create an easy, visual organizing system

I love making my house look spooky for Halloween, but after the trick-or-treaters have been and gone, I get that itch to square it all away as quickly as possible, and usually on November 1.
Last year, I ran out of lidded bins and used hardy bags to store my items. It was a terrible mistake, as some of my favorite Halloween items became moldy or smelled mildewy by the time I unpacked them from the attic this year.
That’s why I’ve been keeping an eye out for large plastic lidded bins, and these $14 ones from Amazon are just right. Deep and stackable, they’ll hold plenty of items and keep out pests, dust and prevent mold from taking a grip.
It’s a nifty Halloween decor storage idea, and as they are clear, it means I won’t pull out a spooky box when I’m actually hoping for another set. I'm loading up for a festive shuffle in November as soon as Halloween is finished.
Why Pros Recommend Clear Bins for Halloween Storage Tubs
Measuring 17.91"L x 13.19"Wx 10.63"H, this set of latch-lid plastic bins are stackable, enabling you to easily use the available height in your storage space without taking up too much floor or shelf space. These work out at $14.24, which is a competitive price.
NYC-based professional organizer Barbara Brock, Founder & CEO of Barbara Brock Inc., a professional organizing and staging company, says, ‘It’s never too early to get ready for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the holidays. Anxiety happens when you leave things to the last minute. So, get started early and relax through the season.’
Stocking up on plastic bins that latch closed securely will certainly help you efficiently pack away what you don’t need, and grab what you do. It’s especially helpful to go for clear bins so you can easily find what you need when you return to repeat the Halloween decorating cycle in 2026.
Barbara adds, ‘Plastic bins are a great solution to corral fall and holiday decor quickly. As you go through the house, collect items to be saved and stored in a bin. Plastic containers come in all sizes and can be stored in multiple places: Under the bed, attic, basement, an out-of-the-way shelf, or closet.’

In the past, I have used very sturdy plastic bins with two-part lids that fit together like a jigsaw saw as Halloween storage tubs. Not only did the items inside have to be perfectly level for the two sections of the lid to close properly, but it was also hard to get a good seal.
That’s why I now go for latch lids, available at Amazon in multiple sizes and quantities, so when I’ve snapped that lid handle closed, I know my Halloween items are securely stored, no pests are getting in, and no mildewy smells are going to build up in the 12 months till they see the light of day again.
One thing I always do before storing away my seasonal items is make sure they are clean and fully dry. This is especially relevant where I live, which is quite humid and rains a lot in the fall. I usually lay the items out in my spare room before packing them, and, after cleaning my decorations, allow them to fully dry before storing.
This will reduce the risk that any humidity that’s worked its way into my more porous items will remain trapped in my Halloween storage tub and cause a nuisance next year.
What to Shop
Stack these Halloween storage tubs in basements, garages, attics, or spare rooms and cabinets where you have the space. The latch lids will help keep pests, dust, and mildewy smells out till you need the items again in 2026.
If your decor is stored in a climate-controlled area, such as a guest room, make use of the closet. Barbara says, ‘A new approach to storing decor is to use a hanging closet organizer. Items can be separated into categories, and it’s visually more creative because you can see what you have and what you might need next year.’
Don’t be deceived by their height, these wheeled under-bed storage bins have 57 qt capacity. They’re great for slipping under sofas too and the split lids make it easy to get what you need without having to lift the entire thing off.
Color-coordinating storage is a smart visual organizing system to help you, or whoever you’ve sent to the attic or basement to fish out bins for you, find what you’re looking for quickly. While these purple 18-gallon bins are not clear plastic, by virtue of their color, you’ll know immediately that it’s your Halloween collection.
For more delicate Halloween items, pack them in these handled bags with clear viewing window, and hang them on a nail in the wall or attic beam. This will help avoid them getting crushed by accident between now and next year. They're also great for storing artificial Christmas wreathes.
Not only can you disassembled 9-feet long decor in this, the sturdy material is waterpoof, and the bag can be rolled to where you need. Avoid back injuries with this easy-to-manouvre storage bag, suitable for a range of festive decorations.
