‘Finally, a Smart Doorbell That’s Actually Smart’ – I’m Upgrading to the Newest Ring Battery Doorbell Pro with $70 Off This Black Friday
It's worth the switch for its pro-level features
Ever since I was lucky enough to test the Ring Battery Doorbell Plus earlier in the year, I've been loving the simple, sleek design, easy-to-use app, and excellent camera quality.
For that reason, I'm so excited to see that the newest Ring Battery Doorbell Pro is now reduced for Black Friday, and I have decided to upgrade my model to make the most of the limited-time discount.
So, if you've been on the fence about investing in one of the best video doorbells, there's no time like the present. Here's why we think this one in particular is such a great model, and such a brilliant deal.
I'm Upgrading to the Ring Battery Doorbell Pro
All prices were correct at the time of publication.
Enjoy the widest field of view and best low-light sight of any Ring model with this new upgrade, which is actually Ring’s best battery-powered doorbell camera. In particular, I truly appreciate how safe and secure the head-to-toe view my current version offers, and this one allows you to see even more of who is at your front door.
As I've already mentioned, I reviewed the Ring Battery Doorbell Plus back in September, after upgrading from an older model that I already had installed, and was supremely impressed by the camera quality, clever features, and user-friendly app.
And, after such a positive experience, I'm now upgrading to the brand new Ring Battery Doorbell Pro available at Amazon, snapping it up while it's reduced for Black Friday.
You may be thinking that this is an unnecessary purchase at this moment in time, as I love and recommend my Plus model so much, and you'd probably be right. But, after reading the specifications of the new Pro, I'd argue that my purchase is perfectly justified, and I'm sure you will too. In fact, I'm convinced this smart tech gadget will transform your home.

For starters, this new model offers some serious pro-level features with 1536p Head-to-Toe HD+ Video, 3D Motion Detection, and Bird's Eye Zones and Bird's Eye View, which amazingly allow you to configure Bird's Eye Zones up to 30 feet away on an overhead map of your property, so you can pinpoint movement specifically where it matters to you.
Like my current model, it also features person and package alerts, both of which I've found so useful. It is important to note that package alerts are not free to access, and are instead included as part of an upgraded Ring subscription feature. I pay for Home Premium, which costs $19.99 a month, or slightly cheaper at $199.99 a year if paid upfront, and the same applies to the Ring Battery Doorbell Pro, too.
Competitors such as the eufy E340 video doorbell, which our team has reviewed, include these features without any additional monthly subscription fees.
The new Ring video doorbell also boasts enhanced imaging sensors for improved low-light sight, to provide clear images and color, even after dark, and handily uses the same chargeable batteries and mount as my old model, so I don't need to reinstall that when I swap them out.
The new Ring Battery Doorbell Pro fits on the same mount as my Plus, which avoids having to put any more holes in the wall.
To find out more about whether this upgrade is worth my money this Black Friday, I spoke to our home tech editor and testing expert, Dan Fauzi.
'If you're wondering whether this is a worthy investment, I'd say yes, one hundred percent,' they say. 'It features some of the most advanced features in a smart doorbell I've ever seen, and at an impressive price point this Black Friday.
'Plus, if you have an Alexa at home, you can connect it to your doorbell to get instant alerts, control security features by voice, and even answer the door to visitors hands-free. It's easy to set up, too.'
I can testify to that – my last model, though I was initially a little confused by the installation instructions, took mere moments to connect to my phone and get up and running in the app.
As one satisfied shopper on Amazon, Dillion Baity, leaving a five-star review, put it: 'Finally, a smart doorbell that's actually smart.'
'This Ring Battery Doorbell Pro has exceeded all my expectations,' they explain. 'The standout features for me are the package detection and how it seamlessly calls my phone. It's a game-changer.
'The package notification is incredibly accurate. I've set up a specific zone, and every time a delivery driver places a box within that area, I get an immediate alert on my phone. The 1536p HD+ Head-to-Toe Video is fantastic for this, as it gives you a full view of the front door area, so you can see exactly where the package is placed. No more wondering if the package was left behind a planter or if it was ever delivered at all.
'And the best part? When someone rings the doorbell, my phone rings just like a regular phone call. I can answer it from anywhere – at work, at the grocery store, or even just in another room of the house. The Two-Way Talk with Audio+ is crystal clear, so I can speak with visitors or delivery people without any static or delay. This feature alone provides so much peace of mind and convenience.
'Between the precise package alerts and the phone-call feature, this doorbell feels less like a security camera and more like a true extension of my home. It's a top-tier product that delivers on its promises.'
So, with Dan's advice and Dillion's review ringing in my ears, I'm adding it to my cart immediately. I'll be reviewing it as soon as I've had a chance to test this brand new battery doorbell, which I'm already deeming one of the best security measures to have at home, so keep an eye out for that!
What to Shop
I can't wait to get my hands on the brand new Ring Battery Doorbell Pro. The best part is, if you're upgrading like me rather than trying Ring for the first time, you won't need to drill any more holes in your walls or install a new mount – you can simply pop this model on the one you already have up.
If you'd prefer to spend slightly less on a new smart doorbell, I would definitely recommend option for the Ring Battery Doorbell Plus. I've experienced months of seamless notifications, alerts, and amazing battery life, and have been recommending this model to others ever since I tried it.
This super affordable Blink video doorbell, which we reviewed, made its way into our best video doorbell round-up, and it just got even cheaper for Black Friday. With an incredible two-year battery life and no subscription needed, this is a no-frills option that delivers everything you need at an enviable price point.
Punteha van Terheyden, the Head of Solved here at Homes & Gardens, tested and reviewed the eufy e340 video doorbell and found it fantastically reliable, easy to use, with crisp and clear sound and audio, and a superb safety feature. No monthly fees are needed to access the features.
Jennifer Oksien tested and reviewed Arlo 2K Video Doorbell and rated it four stars overall, owing to its crisp daytime video, easy customizability, and the fact it includes a Chime with it. She did, however, think a few features and the app could be improved.
I've got a Ring chime paired with my current doorbell, and this is the newest iteration. It allows you to hear real-time notifications, like when someone is detected on your porch.
