Those of us with pools practically live in our backyards during the summer. As such, we are firm believers that as much effort should be put into making an outdoor pool like aesthetically pleasing as would be put into any interior styling.

Our latest obsession? Alexandra Daddario's Scandi-style lap pool, which she showed off on her Instagram page last year.

When brainstorming pool ideas (and let's be real, they can always use some upgrades), we returned to it because it perfectly exemplifies why clean lines and simple accessories are the perfect combination for a chic backyard.

While curvaceous pools are undoubtedly popular (and timeless), there is a certain appeal to a lap pool like Alexandra's. As its name suggests, it is perfect for those who like to use their pool for exercise purposes. Beyond that, it also is a strategic way to save space in a backyard. Due to its long and narrow size and shape, lap pools are perfect for accessorizing around with lounge chairs, umbrellas, and tables.

Alexandra has opted for two lounge chairs at the head of the pool, though these can easily be placed on any and all sides.

Additionally, lap pools serve as a great base to experiment with lighting. Try adding solar-powered lights directly to the pool in the evening for a glowy look, or place a solar lantern nearby to set the mood when hosting guests.

Just be careful not to over-accessorize; the beauty of Alexandra's pool is in its minimalism, so selecting just a few seats, lights, and tables is the move.
