Trends come and go, but reclaimed wood furniture transcends passing styles. Both durable and distressed, natural wood furniture is a fixture in aesthetics ranging from organic modern to rustic farmhouse, and in our opinion, it works particularly well as a material for large furnishings.
Alicia Silverstone's dining table drives this belief forward. The Clueless star recently shared a photo of herself sitting at her natural, wooden table, and we can't get enough of the warm yet tasteful look.
When considering dining room ideas, the foundation of a table is an excellent starting point, and we can't think of a more versatile material than wood.

Small dining rooms meet their match with this 42-inch, rounded table, with a contemporary feel and fluted pattern. It would be the perfect accent in a kitchen breakfast nook to add both function and flair.
Contrast a reclaimed wood dining table with rough gorgeous boucle seats. The mix of textures is perfect for adding interest to a room.
There's 20% off these scallop edged placemats – two trends in one – and you can also get the matching Tyna rattan coasters to complete the set.
Design experts say wood is a good material for a table due to its adaptability and longevity.
'First up and probably the most important factor in picking a durable dining table is the quality of materials,' explains Sam Deeble, furniture specialist at Woods Furniture. 'Tables made from solid hardwoods like oak, maple or walnut are incredibly durable, can be repaired if needed, and actually look better as they age. If you want a table that’ll go the distance, I’d steer clear of particleboard or MDF; they just don’t have the same staying power as solid hardwood.'
He also says that wood tables are a safe buy, as they will truly never go out of style.
'With so many inspiring interior trends, it can be tempting to choose furniture that fits a particular style of the moment,' he says. 'However, when selecting a dining table, it’s wise to opt for classic designs in neutral colours as they’re more likely to withstand changing trends and stay timeless. Styles like traditional, mid-century modern, or rustic have enduring appeal, making them a solid choice if you’re looking for a piece that won’t feel outdated over time.'
