With the 2026 BAFTA Awards unfolding last night in London, all eyes were on Hollywood's biggest stars as another round of accolades was announced – but I'll admit that I was just as transfixed by the red carpet.

Fashion and interiors have always been intertwined, and nowhere is this clearer than at an award show like the BAFTAs. The hottest trends are on full display, providing plenty of design inspiration – and I'd say that Chase Infiniti's spectacular burgundy dress is all the fuel I need to start bringing this bold shade into my home.

Chase Infiniti arrived at the BAFTAs yesterday with a Best Actress nomination for her role in One Battle After Another. Her stunning gown was a custom Louis Vuitton creation, and it's a clear indication that burgundy is dominating the design world this year.

Naturally, it can feel risky to experiment with a block color as bold as this one – especially when it comes to interiors. Soft neutrals and warm minimalism will always be a safe bet, but burgundy can bring instant personality to a space, and it's more versatile than you might expect.

If you're playing around with paint colors, I'd say that classic red requires restraint: get too excited, and it can look kitschy and even garish.

In contrast, many designers will tell you that burgundy is one of the best colors for color drenching. Since it's a richer and more sumptuous shade, it's ideal for bringing depth and dimension to a space – and in smaller areas of the home, like powder rooms or guest rooms, it can create a wonderful cocooning effect.

Naturally, a purple-hued burgundy like Chase's can seem like a particularly daring choice, but it all comes down to decorating with intention. Burgundy can provide a striking backdrop, whether you choose the color drenching approach, opt for a statement wall, or simply build in a few focal points like seating or soft furnishings.

The secret to a design scheme as elegant as Chase's gown? Plenty of visual interest. Ruffles bring some unexpected shape and movement to Chase's dress, and this can be replicated using decor with playful trims or striking silhouettes. Details like these will ensure that your space feels dynamic and fresh.

And while Chase demonstrates the timeless allure of a deep block color, burgundy interiors work best with a little more variation. Layering materials like metal, wood and marble will break up your design scheme and draw the eye across the room.

Chase's gown is certainly a bold statement, but it's rooted in elegance and tradition. Burgundy has long been associated with opulence and luxury – and yet Chase proves that it also lends itself to more playful and modern design.

Ultimately, burgundy is synonymous not only with elegance but also with warmth – and experts say that this is what's driving the design world forward in 2026.

'Deep oxblood maroon reads historic and cinematic, yet deeply intimate,' says interior designer Angela Reynolds. 'We are seeing a real shift toward expressive, personality-driven spaces that feel collected, architectural, and soulful. When deep color is handled with restraint and material richness, it feels timeless and yet completely current.'

So, while award shows continue to celebrate worlds created for the silver screen, I'll be thinking about how I can bring some of that glorious red carpet fashion right into my home – starting with a dramatic burgundy color palette. Nothing says Hollywood glamor like deep red hues, after all.
