It's certainly no secret that I'm a minimalist, and my favorite celebrity kitchens follow a sleek, clean aesthetic inspired by my own clear countertops. The only thing I love more than a minimalist kitchen, however, is Dolly Parton – and in style that's true to her personality, her kitchen is filled with fun-loving, colorful accessories that are a testament to her warm, light-hearted spirit. They're a reflection of the figure behind the home – something that, I admit, my minimalistic kitchen was lacking, until now, at least.
This is where the idea of 'curated clutter' comes into play. This concept involves intentionally filling a space with eclectic items in a thoughtful, aesthetically pleasing, and personal way. Dolly's white kitchen is the ultimate blueprint.
Her countertops and open shelves replace utilitarian appliances with design-led accessories, including house figurines (like these from Wayfair), pink rattan baskets (also at Wayfair), and a glass flamingo (at Amazon), naturally. I've rounded up some buys inspired by her iconic space below.

This sweet village set features three half-timbered porcelain houses that capture the charm of small German and Austrian villages. Two smaller homes and one larger home include built-in lights that glow warmly through the detailed windows. Place them around your kitchen shelves for Dolly's eclectic look.
Add texture and some pink fun to your kitchen with this 3-piece set of handwoven seagrass baskets. Perfect for storing fruits, utensils, or pantry staples, their unique patterns and natural tan bases bring both style and function to your shelf or counter.
It's hard to find a sculptured house as quaint as this one – cute enough to display on any kitchen shelf (like Dolly), or also as a unique night light in a child's bedroom. Its sleek porcelain exterior makes it feel like a real heirloom piece.
Keep your kitchen tidy with this woven rectangular basket, designed to bring natural texture and effortless organization to your space. Lightweight and easy to move, it offers plenty of room for everything from linens and pantry items to cookbooks and everyday essentials.
Brighten your kitchen with this modern ceramic planter, finished in a smooth yellow glaze that adds a cheerful pop of color. Perfect for windowsills, shelves, or countertops, it’s an easy way to style herbs or small plants in your everyday space, just like Dolly.
Add a playful touch to your kitchen shelves with this handcrafted flamingo figurine, a charming symbol of love and warmth. Each glass piece is uniquely made by hand, making every pair one of a kind. It's a light-hearted addition that Dolly would surely love.
I am not alone in my observations. Bo Hellberg, CMO at Scandinavian design icon String Furniture, echoes my newfound argument, reiterating how 'clutter should be seen differently in a kitchen.
'Curated clutter in the kitchen embraces the idea of a curated, yet layered, aesthetic that adds depth and narrative to a space. It’s not about excess, but rather the artful arrangement of objects, textures, and materials that reflect individuality and evoke a sense of personality in the kitchen,' he says.
'By incorporating elements that can evolve with a space, whether through the integration of unique design pieces or versatile storage systems, curated clutter becomes a way to craft personalised and dynamic spaces that are both functional and visually striking.'
I confess, Dolly’s kitchen has made me rethink my own approach entirely. I’m not about to abandon my love of clean lines and clear countertops, but I’ve realised that a kitchen can be both calm and characterful. Curated clutter, when done thoughtfully, doesn’t disrupt a space; it adds a personality my counters never had before. These are the details that turn a kitchen from simply stylish into something that feels truly lived-in.
