I wanted to follow the spa bathroom trend without spending a fortune – these Drew Barrymore-designed towels made it possible (from $20)

The foundation of a serene bathroom begins with a soft, plush towel – Drew Barrymore uses this exact product in her home (and I can't believe the price)

As a celebrity style editor, catching glimpses of the world's most beautiful bathrooms is part of my everyday life, and often, this allows me to keep track of the design trends that unite figures together.

Unsurprisingly, I've seen many celebrities (including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, and LeBron James) showcase their spa bathrooms. These impeccably designed spaces often include sunken tubs, spacious shower/steam rooms, and, of course, an abundance of marble to emphasize its luxury. So, how can I hope to enjoy an element of their luxury in my tiny home?

The secret is in the towels, where another celebrity, Drew Barrymore, comes into play. The Beautiful by Drew Barrymore collection is known for offering chic homeware at an affordable price, and the towel sets (available at Walmart) epitomize this ideology. They're so soft, in fact, that Drew is known to use them in her own bathroom. That's enough reason to invest in its own right.

However, as experts explain, finding the perfect bath towel is the key to a spa bathroom on a smaller scale.

'The bathroom is the place to bring in soft and nurturing textures. They are also key to creating a spa-like feel in your bathroom. Nothing says spa quite like a fresh stack of plush towels placed over a towel bar, rolled in baskets, or stacked neatly on a shelf,' comments Joanna Ross, the general manager of product and innovation at Sheridan.

The feeling of the ultra-soft towels (and robes) is among my favorite touches when I treat myself to a spa day, so it makes sense that I'd want to recreate this element at home.

Unlike the features I love to see in celebrity bathrooms, these towels are available from as little as $20, and they fit into the smallest of spaces (and city living means mine is at a premium). Mike Whitfield, a luxury interiors expert at LUSSO, agrees. However, he adds that finding beautiful storage is also key to mastering the look.

'The key to creating a relaxing and romantic spa bathroom is by adding little touches that contribute to the feeling of luxury, without making the space feel cluttered and chaotic, which will detract from the relaxing feel,' he says.

'Decant unsightly toiletries from their containers into elegant vessels [such as this dispenser from Amazon] that fit within your bathroom aesthetic. Hide spare towels and flannels in stylish storage units to cut down on clutter, whilst proudly displaying ready-to-use towels and bathrobes for convenience and a subtle lived-in feel.'

Meanwhile, I'm shopping for more towels, designed by Drew, below. They also make great gifts (but only once you've stocked up for your bathroom).
