Goldie Hawn's bedroom taps into a timeless color trend that both soothes and brightens her space
The actress's blue and white, floral wallpaper perfectly complements her decor in a design move that experts say is timeless
When it comes to dynamic color duos, blue and white ranks high as one of the most versatile and pleasing combinations. Ranging in style outcome from nautical to country-chic, crisp white is perfectly complementary alongside its deep, blue counterpart, making for a color scheme choice that never disappoints.
Actor Goldie Hawn is a fan of this palette, as evidenced by her blue-and-white bedroom. The Death Becomes Her and The First Wives Club star posted a photo of her pale blue-wallpapered room to her Instagram page, and we couldn't help but admire the variety of white and cream accents, such as her cloud-like duvet and antique-inspired table lamp.
Often associated with coastal decor, blue and white rooms typically evoke a sensation of being by the ocean thanks to the colors' water and sky symbolism. However, experts say that careful color shade choice can determine a blue and white room's aesthetic.

'Nautical decor is a natural fit for a blue and white room; however, this color scheme actually fits into a lot of more current (and timeless) trends,' H&G's editor, Jennifer Ebert, says. 'Navy blue and white gives off a luxurious feel, or you can try a true-blue denim shade, which works particularly well in the bedroom along with small white accents for a soothing space.'
Blue and white patterns, like Hawn's floral wallpaper, are also fantastic for incorporating a dose of color and visual interest. While delicate Chinoiserie pieces, which are known for their blue and white color palette, are often found in living and dining areas, there is another popular design scheme that works well in bedrooms.
'Toile de jouy is a beloved, French decor scheme with roots that date back to the 18th century,' Ebert explains. 'These patterns paint intricate scenes in blue and white, which would look charming on wallpaper in a country-inspired bedroom, or even a entryway.'
Finally, Ebert recommends experimenting with the ratio of blue to white.

'These colors do not need to appear in equal amounts,' she says. 'Try a blue-dominated room with white accents for a surprisingly calming space or a mostly-white room with touches of blue for a space that feels airy and expansive.'
