For some of us, closets are ongoing works in progress, wherein we are trying to perfect our storage solutions for an accessible and impeccably tidy space. Jennifer Garner proposes vertical storage, and after seeing her closet, we are convinced.

The 13 Going on 30 star recently shared a clip in her walk-in closet on Instagram, and we were taken by how well she maximized storage space by hanging items in vertical rows.

We can see that her closet features two hanging racks for optimal clothing storage, closed drawers for smaller/concealed items, and cubbies for shoes. In short, it's giving us some major closet organization ideas.

According to experts, utilizing vertical storage space is not only efficient, but one of the most aesthetically pleasing design choices you can make in a closet (and beyond).

'Done well, vertical storage isn’t just a space saver,' explains designer Nina Lichtenstein. 'It’s a design statement. It draws the eye upward, celebrates the architecture of the room, and proves that practicality and beauty can climb side by side.'

However, it is crucial that items within vertical storage are organized effectively for maximum visual impact.

'Styling is where vertical storage comes alive,' she continues. 'Balance function with aesthetics: reserve lower, easy-reach shelves for daily-use items and let the higher spots hold pieces that add character. Lighting also plays a critical role: an LED strip under each shelf or a pendant nearby can transform storage into display.'

Jennifer has illuminated her shelves with these lights, while shoes are smartly lined up on the ground and in cubbies for easy reach. Keeping smaller items, like socks, underwear, and activewear in drawers is also a tried and true method of organization.

If you have some dead space in your closet, consider incorporating shelves or racks to maximize your space to its fullest potential.
