Jake Arnold designed Julianne Hough's new 'warehouse' style bathroom – where industrial bones meet SoCal chic

When we learned that dancer Julianne Hough had commissioned one of H&G's favorite designers Jake Arnold to decorate her LA home, we inevitably had high hopes – and naturally, he didn't disappoint.

The Dancing with the Stars professional recently shared a glimpse into the designer's handiwork, beginning with the modern-industrial bathroom that brings elements of a NY loft to SoCal – complete with metal-framed windows and rustic wooden cabinetry.

Furnishings and finishings aside, Jake Arnold's earthy color choices also tap into one of the most therapeutic bathroom trends of the year, but despite its 'trend' label, these grounding neutrals are much more than a fad. And yet more experts agree.

'Describing earthy colors in the bathroom as a current trend feels misguided, as they have been popular for several years now. However, it would be remiss to ignore their ongoing popularity and their ability to create a calming and relaxing atmosphere,' say the teams at Roca and LAUFEN in their latest bathroom report.

These hues are a naturally suitable choice for the bathroom where we choose to detox and unwind (especially before sleep). However, as the Roca and LAUFEN teams explain, these colors have their durable benefits, too.

'These colors are a practical choice, as they can be used as the main color or as an accent, and they pair well with other colors, making it easy to create a cohesive design,' they explain.

To follow Jake's lead, we recommend opting for a soothing off-white shade – with almost green undertones – that complements our view (just like Julianne's). Designers at Roca and LAUFEN similarly recommend a light gray or terracotta that will 'evoke the soft tones typical of the Mediterranean landscape.'

And in case we need reminding of Jake Arnold's expertise, it's worth noting that the British-born designer has already established himself as one of LA's most in-demand figures – counting the likes of Chrissy Teigen and John Legend among his clientele. And among his favorite rooms to design is (fittingly) the bathroom.

In 2020, aged 30, Jake Arnold launched his interior design firm – mastering in tactile, atmospheric interiors that will stand the test of time. He has since gone on to design homes for the most fashionable figures in Los Angeles, including Chrissy Teigen and Sophia Bush. In 2021 he also co-founded The Expert – an industry-first platform that creates connections for one-to-one online consultations with over 130 respected designers.

'Bathrooms are one of our favorite rooms to design because who doesn’t dream of staying in a tub all day,' Jake says via Instagram. And with Chrissy Teigen's pink room and Julianne Hough's earthy space both a part of his portfolio, it's easy to see the appeal. And, of course, the tub is never a bad idea.

Colors aside, we're buying our way into Julianne Hough's space with these three buys below.
