It might be omnipresent, but it's for good reason: the white kitchen is truly the workhorse of the home culinary space. A staple shade in ever-popular aesthetics like modern farmhouse and Scandi-style, white works wonders in practically any kitchen, large or small.

Kat Dennings' space is further proof of this enduring color palette. The actor recently posted a photo of her modern, minimalist white kitchen to her Instagram page, and we love the varied textures and materials that she has layered in the room.

Design experts say that mixing and matching whites and light neutrals is particularly trendy at the moment.

'Throughout the past year, our design team has noticed clients leaning towards a combination of blonde and warm-toned woods, off-white cabinetry, and tactile stone surfaces in the kitchen,' Tom Howley, Creative Design Director of the eponymous bespoke kitchen company, explains.

'This Scandi-inspired look continues to evolve with the addition of reeded glass, patina finishes, and natural stone flooring.'

While many of us choose to change up our interiors seasonally, other designers say that mixing lights and darks in the kitchen is a fantastic way to ensure that your space is as versatile as possible.

'If you are one for restyling as the seasons change, then choosing pale and earthy tones for your kitchen is important,' Mor Krisher, Head of Design at leading surface brand Caesarstone, says. 'Neutral cabinetry and light worktops – such as a veined, marble-inspired design – pair beautifully with a vast range of other hues, giving you the flexibility to change your décor throughout the year with ease.'
