Kate Moss and Johnny Depp's former penthouse merges New York luxury with pared-back industrial bones
Built in 1826, the Federal-style brick carriage house is a West Village jewel – and it just sold for approximately $12 million
A West Village brownstone, home to Kate Moss while she dated Johnny Depp between 1994 and 1998, has sold for just over $12 million.
The Federal-style brick townhouse dates back to 1826, and its history is rooted in architectural details that made this listing one of the most exciting in Lower Manhattan. Stand-out original features include hardwood floors, mahogany molding, exposed brick, and high ceilings in true raw NYC style.
The listing contains four adjoining rental homes, but the couple's former 'love nest' is the property's crowning jewel – combining unmistakable industrial decor with a refined city glamor that will transcend any passing design trends.
Moss and Depp's home, named The Carriage House, was originally built as an artist's studio and later served as the Little Theatre in the early twentieth century – remnants of which remain visible through its unique architectural assets. The two-and-a-half-floor space has a dramatic skylight, soaring 17-foot beamed ceilings, and a mezzanine level that overlooks the open-plan kitchen and dining area.
The kitchen, with its copper ceiling and timeless white cabinets, flows into the living area and follows a similar color palette. The space combines brown bricks and subtle wooden hues with vibrant blue accents and white textures that bring a sense of interest to the raw space.
Alongside the living and dining spaces, the home features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms (including a spa-like space with a freestanding tub), and an additional 1,200 square feet of private outdoor living space.
Arguably the pinnacle of the property, the roof terrace is an indulgent celebration of its urban zip code, boasting views of the Empire State Building and other jewels among the New York City skyline. The space also boasts an outdoor living room covered by a leafy trellis and a space to cook and dine al-fresco (when the weather allows).

Beyond the home's interiors and its classic brick façade, the West Village neighborhood is just as noteworthy. This famously cool area continues to attract a host of celebrities including playwright, essayist, and advocate for justice Lorraine Hansberry, according to Corcoran's.
Depp and Moss' former townhouse was listed at $13,500,000 and recently closed at $12,005,000 after being listed by Compass's Randy Baruh and Meris and Kenny Blumstein of Corcoran's Blumstein Team.
