When my partner and I moved in together, I only had one rule: she had to get rid of her netted, ergonomic desk chair. While I understand the need for back support, my background in design writing won out. I couldn't stomach the thought of having a piece of furniture that so extremely favored function over form in our beautiful city apartment.
As I scoured the internet for a more stylish alternative, I became even more disillusioned by the desk chair options. Anything comfortable enough to offer 8 hours of lumbar support had the chicness quotient of the average teenage boy's bedroom, while anything design-led was basically a glorified dining chair. That's why I was elated when I finally came across Kelly Clarkson's Louise Velvet Modern Task Chair.
The affordable, mid-century modern-inspired piece is the perfect marriage of style and substance. Its slightly curved back creates a stylish circular shape in the home office, while also cushioning the back comfortably. Similarly, the velvet material is both soft to the touch, and soothing to the eyes. Better yet, Kelly Clarkson's chair is quietly 40% off this month.
Though I previously wouldn't have known that Kelly Clarkson's Wayfair collection is one of the best places to buy office chairs, now I can't imagine getting one anywhere else. The combination of a great price with a beautiful design and comfort is too good to pass up.

Though I haven't yet seen anything as effective as Kelly Clarkson's desk chairs, these pieces all caught my eye. Many of them have swivel-capability, making them great alternatives if you're looking for something similar but a little bit different.
