Whether you have been keeping up with the Kardashians or not, you are likely familiar with their influence. Beyond their televised personas and glamorous wardrobes lie divinely decorated homes, such as Khloé’s former California residence. This estate boasts a spacious terrace surrounded by lush greenery and an inviting outdoor pool, perfect for the warming days of spring 2026.
Styled by British interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, the terrace is one of the most relaxing zones within the $18 million dollar home. By featuring a swing sofa, a low stone table, and an elegant canopy for shade, Bullard conceptualized the quintessential hub for winding down and enjoying good company.
As the gardens begin to bloom this season, the mindful placement of seating optimizes both comfort and the flow of conversation. This space demonstrates how a well-structured design can look stunning while actively encouraging people to connect.

This low concrete coffee table captures the same vibe as the one on Khloé’s terrace. With its rustic finish, it offers a minimalistic yet sophisticated touch to any outdoor or indoor space.
Crafted for both indoor and outdoor use, the Conrad pillow combines softness and durability with intricate stripes and tasseled corners. Layer it with florals and plaids from the collection for a rich, inviting look.
This seating group creates a relaxed lounge area perfect for unwinding the Khloé way. A solid acacia wood frames showcase the natural grain, while angled silhouettes add a modern, architectural feel.
Inspired by those on Khloé’s chair, these boho black pillow covers feature a hidden zipper closure and a seamless design for an elegant look, making it easy to insert pillows or filler.
In a small size, this cylindrical pillow adds shape and style to a mix of throw pillows, or make a statement with a single extra-long bolster on a bench or lounge chair, similar to Khloé's.
Inspired by the plant-filled bowl on Khloé's table, this stone piece is a versatile alternative. Made from durable resin, it's weatherproof and fade-resistant, staying strong and vibrant season after season.
The specific arrangement of Khloé’s terrace was no accident. It utilizes a simple yet effective layout hack known as the 'conversational seating technique'. Designers use this method to orient chairs in the best possible way to spark dialogue. Mike Durbridge, CEO of Andrew Martin, explains how placing two particular sofas directly opposite one another achieves this effortlessly.
'Conversational seating is all about balance – keeping outdoor furniture such as seating at a comfortable distance, avoiding barriers that disrupt eye contact, and incorporating soft textures to enhance a sense of warmth and ease. In this case, the symmetry of the layout adds a structured elegance, while the outdoor setting makes it feel effortlessly sociable.'
The inclusion of a neutral swing sofa and soft furnishings further enhances the relaxed atmosphere. During a seasonal get–together, visitors can engage in deep chats, laugh, or lounge. The blank canvas of the seating allows Khloé to incorporate whichever seasonal or chic accents she desires.
Placing two large seats opposite one another also gives guests the choice of sitting side by side or face to face, depending on the intimacy of the conversation.

'The furniture placement of two sofas directly opposite each other with a coffee table in between creates an intimate yet open arrangement, ensuring that guests are naturally oriented toward one another,' Mike says.
Regardless of where guests sit, the space's inherent layout ensures they feel connected. It is secluded but spacious, intimate yet inviting. If you are looking to elevate your patio or terrace as the 2026 sunshine arrives, consider how your furniture is positioned.
If you enjoy a catch-up over coffee, conversational seating is ideal; however, if you prefer to host garden parties, prioritizing numerous tables for food and drinks will be more important. As ever, go with what's best for your needs and how you like to socialize.
