The 'Super-Skinny' Tree Is 2025's Most Unorthodox Christmas Trend, Led by Martha Stewart's Skeletal Choice – It's Bizarre but So Stylish

Christmas may be a holiday steeped in tradition, but that hasn’t stopped contemporary trends from influencing how some of us decorate. We’ve been patiently waiting to see which craze would shake up our 2025 holiday arrangements – and now we have an answer: Martha Stewart’s super-skinny Christmas tree.

The original influencer was pictured in front of an almost skeletal-style Christmas tree that's not dissimilar to some other thin alternatives that we've already spotted this month. In her case, the tree is dressed in a colorful beaded garland (much like this one from Amazon) and eclectic ornaments, including red birds like this one from Target.

Shop the Look

'I have to admit this look is a little odd at first glance – there’s something striking about a tree that’s almost skeletal in shape – but that’s exactly what makes it so captivating,' comments Jennifer Ebert, the Editor at Homes & Gardens.

'Martha Stewart’s take proves that a super-skinny tree doesn’t have to feel bare when layered with colorful garlands and eclectic ornaments. Interestingly, I’ve already seen a few other trees this year following a similar approach, which suggests that this minimalist-yet-vibrant style might be the unexpected trend of 2025. It’s a reminder that sometimes the most unconventional Christmas decor ideas can feel effortlessly stylish. Plus, this is Martha-approved, so we're not going to argue with that.'
